Right Back Where I Was
No doubt, I had hoped Bob Hertzberg would do better than he did, but here we sit. You can get into all the would have beens, should of beens - even being pissed at that fucking moron Walter Moore (you should see some of the goofball emails we got from him in the last few days) - but alas, its all water under the flood control channel bridge.
I salute Hertzberg for offering something different, for stepping up and working hard. I also salute Bernard Parks and Richard Alarcon for doing the same.
So here we stand. And rather than pussyfoot around, one of the main goals of this blog will be to continue one of our original missions - to dump James Hahn.
In 2001, I supported another moderate, San Fernando Valley voice for Mayor in the primary - Joel Wachs. He didn't win, so my vote in the general election did not go to James Hahn. I voted for Antonio Villaraigosa.
Therefore I, Mayor Sam - meaning me the person not necessarily the site as a whole or the other contributors to the site - am formally announcing my endorsement of Antonio Villaraigosa for Mayor. I'm right back where I was.
Antonio no doubt concerns me in many ways. But James Hahn concerns me even more. Antonio has issues, but he has some vision. Antonio didn't want to tax poor people to pay for more police officers like Jim Hahn does. Antonio doesn't support an $11 billion boondoggle at LAX like Jim Hahn does.
And I even have to question Jim Hahn's mental state following his near meltdown - almost coming to tears - on a radio program yesterday (And yes Kevin Roderick on LA Observed tried to sugar coat it, but I've listened to the tape three times now. Hahn nearly loses it.).
So we go forward. To be sure, we won't be shilling for Antonio left and right, but we'll continue to bring up issues as they come forward and discuss them in the rough and tumble way we always have. To be honest, I am looking forward to talking about other aspects of local government that have been nearly drowned out by the mayor's contest.
In the end, we have to say MEAT was right. Now blog away dum, dums.

MAYOR SAM HOW COULD YOU? There are so many of us anti-Attention Deficit Villaraigosa people you insult us. ADV is a known LIAR, SNAKE, COWARD, AND ALL AROUND SLEAZY person. I'm not calling him a man cause a man wouldn't act like a crybaby the way he has. We will do everything to let people know his stand on issues he's been hiding and not speaking about.
Hey, MAYOR -- I won't rag on you. No way you could endorse Hahn now... considering everything you've said in the past. I can appreciate consistency - but stay tuned for the next 10 weeks. The people who know the attention-deficient one best will speak louder and have more facts to show his worth(lessness); the people accusing Hahn of so much have shot all their ammo in the primary just to get this far. I ain't Pro-Hahn, I'm pro-L.A (and CD14), but it would be a crybaby shame to change horses in midstream when the other horse (ADV®) has yet to carry a rider across ANY stream all the way.
You're wrong -- but consistently so. Picked a 3rd-place losing horse in the primary; now you've picked a (two-time) 2nd-place losing horse in the general. Your batting average won't suffer, in any case.
When Hertzberg fans begin to put the blame on Walter for Hertzberg losing the runoff spot, just remember me, Ryan Gene.
I was Walter's head volunteer and I drove around the entire city, 5,000 miles of roadway plus some, getting the vote out on Walter and look what happened. You're so-called "Perfect Candidate" failed to make it into a run-off by just 6000 votes caused by my hours and hours of effort.
Remember, it wasn't Walter's fault Hertzberg didn't make it. It was mine. Think of that! A 19-year-old college student from Texas helped prevent Hertzberg getting into a runoff. I call that progress.
Thanks ever so much, RG (and to your counterparts in Bitter Bernie's equally fake GOP campaign as well... we got their confusing mailers with Hahn's picture on front that looked they were FOR Hahn). Thanks for providing L.A. with a real "Republican" sort of choice for a change -- between a presumed crooked liberal and a lying (big "S") socialist con-man. Do yourself a big favor and stay home from any future GOP rallies (or don't ID yourself). Some of them ol' boys up in horse country still knows how to use the business end of a rope.

This is why people will vote for HAHN come May. ADV had his campaign manager Ace Smith go to Hahn's press conf. and pressure reporters to ask Hahn hard questions. Yet ADV says "let's stop the blame game." Then he has on his website the funniest lines ....."It's about electing a Mayor who will restore the people's trust in their government. (he needs to restore trust in CD14)....It's about electing a Mayor who will be a hands-on leader. Looking at the number of votes cast in the valley, it is shameful, disgraceful and un-american. The whining valley idiots always crying how they are the stepchildren of the city had their chance with Hertzberg and blew it.
Valley residents: I pray that all your streets fill with pot holes. I pray that your infrastructure fails, that your sewers clog, that your services suck even further, I pray that the LAPD understaffs your area big time so that the rest of the city could benifit off your lousy existence.
On behalf of the rest of the city, I ask you to SHUT UP. No more nagging, whining, crying and tearing.

Tony V. is marching into power and before you know it the valley will be THE trash dump of the city. I believe that the first order of business is for all released inmates to be bussed into the valley to begin their "rehabilitated" lives.
No big diff for the Valley. Tony V. was just as much opposed to succession as Hahn. He doesn't want to be mayor of only the 5th or 6th largest city in America, especially after wasting $4 million or so in campaign contributions in three local races to try and finally get there.

I wouldn't underestimate AV. Everyone has the same playing field. They just have to know how to play. And no, it won't be pay to play because people are watching.
I believe that AV will get more done in 4 years than Mayor Poopy could have done in 8. The people (that's you and the other pathetic souls who should have voted yesterday) need to hold our politicians accountable and those of you who are putting AV down for not doing what you say he didn't do in CD14 are in your own denial because there is a process if a majority does not believe their leader is effective. Anyone in their right mind would be STUPID to risk being dealt with like Gray Davis.
Sacs Night, is it possible a person with AD can be a better multi tasker and get more things done in a shorter amount of time than a person who has to run to the big Unions, pay outsiders to convince voters that Poopy is the right person for the job??? Couldn't a person as charming as Poopy get people from the City to make these calls instead of hiring telemarketers?

Quick answer. NO. 1000 times.
They only appear to start lots of things -- and never finish ANYthing. That's the legacy of the last two years in CD14. Check the CD14 transition memo from mid 2003; check the Tony V. 18-month accomplishments list for the district. Same lists, almost nothing completed (including some 6-month projects), several projects in danger of total failure for lack of attention, many missed windows of opportunity, and dwindling funds. Again, NO!
ADV supports vendors and illegal immigrants and gangs (remember he was one and got busted by police)so the Valley people better get ready to have vendors over flow your communities the way already do parts of CD14 downtown and over CD14. ADV won't touch them. ADV is laughable as a leader. Word now is that people in the valley and westside may be rethinking voting for him in May because as the 1st Latino Mayor (HE says to Eastside) with over 45% Hispanic in LA give pay back to his own people.
