Mayor Sam's Morning Update

One day after Controller Laura Chick said she had "significant concerns about the safeguarding of cash and the proper management of parking operations at El Pueblo," Laura Chick will next set her sights on the Recreation and Parks Department in an audit to be released on Thursday. It will be intersting to see what she says. What she found at El Pueblo raises huge concerns. "It is mind boggling to me that some parking lot attendants are still storing cash in their pockets. There's no excuse for not providing basic, common sense safeguards to protect the public's money," said Chick. Stay tuned.

In addition to spending some time on KBIG Radio Thursday morning (don't expect to hear him on KABC anytime soon though), Mayor Villaraigosa will meet with NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue to persuade the league to bring a football team to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Villaraigosa is even proposing offering nearly $50 million a year in taxpayer funds to a pro team, even though the feeling of most in town is to not spend public funds on sports. Where is Joel Wachs when you need him?

Steve Hymon reports in the LA Times that Janice Hahn is less than pleased with the lunch choices at the LA Mall next to City Hall. Carl's Jr. and Quiznos are the two main choices. Its gotten so bad, staffers cringe at picking up her lunch lest Janice gripe about a toasted cheese and tuna sub or a western bacon cheeseburger. Hey, at least she's not parking in handicapped spots anymore!

Preventing parking lot attendants from stealing a few hundred dollars a week is well and good. But how about upping the ante and auditing Mayor Ameriquest to see what goods and services special interests are lavishing on him and his peeps?

Why don't Laura audit her own department and confess to how her very own drop the the ball on catching Fleishman Hillards' over billing. It was her department that approved payment at DWP, I don't see Laura taking responsibility for her department not doing the job required.

This can't be good news for one of the rumored LAUSD Board candidates.

Nice to see that Councilwoman Hahn is focusing on the big issues facing the City.

All I can say is that Laura Chick's audit of the Port backed them off a little bit when they were runing roughshod over the surrounding commnities.

For that, we will be forever grateful

"A culture of secrecy" indeed.

Whoa Archie, harsh words. Women hate that "c" word. Not me, of course - I could care less if someone called me that.

But you have such strong feelings about Laura. You must want to do her, eh?

Some of us know for a fact that if Hahn were to take those allegations to court - he would win and win big.

Archie's hot for Laura. Archie's hot for Laura. Come on dude, admit it. Ha Ha Ha Ha

She's a great leader and she'll make a great mayor when AV books for the governor job. Or the VP job with Hillary. Whichever one he chooses.

My husband doesn't want a football team in Los Angeles. He says it will then limit the games he can watch on Sunday because one channel will only cover the L.A. team. He keeps hoping and wishing that we don't get one.

Hey Archie,

What other political women do you find yourself jerking off to? How about Wendy? How about Janice? Since you are Archie, I have to assume you aren't attracted to Jan.

Come on - spill.
