This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Good coverage on elections
Not mentioned is that Huizar’s firm, Escovar, Avila, Christopher & Ruiz, was until a few weeks ago registered as a city lobbyist, or that his former firm, Weston Benshoof, lobbies for Browning-Ferris Industries and some of the city’s biggest developers. Anything wrong with that?
No. As far as I know, lobbying is still a LEGAL profession.
Who is going to replace Jose on the Board? Will the Board appoint someone? Please say it ain't so.
Maybe someone should look into whether Huizar directed District work to the law firm of Alvarado, Smith (now Adorno, Smith) in exchange for Alvardo, Smith sending work from the City of South Gate to Escovar, Avila, Christopher & Ruiz. Now that is interesting back scratching.
