Hire Her

It seems like no man wants the Dodgers job, so they might as well give it to a woman. That's right, I'm saying the team I used to own should hire Kim Ng as its general manager.

Frank McCourt has already proven he has no idea what he's doing, after his ill-timed firing of Paul DePodesta. Now Pat Gillick has opted for Philadelphia. Gerry Hunsicker is in Tampa Bay. Theo Epstein has probably been scared off. And so there's nothing doing on the GM search right now.

The name Jim Bowden has been thrown out, but anyone who's followed his career knows Bowden would be a disaster in LA. John Hart was great in Cleveland, then idiotic in Texas ($65 million for Chan Ho Park???), and I really don't know why he left the Rangers so soon. I thought it was because he was tired, which makes his alleged interest in the Dodgers all the more perplexing.

So who does that really leave? Kim Ng! I am convinced that if Kim Ng were male, then she would have been hired as a GM three years ago. She is one of the smartest people in the game. No one knows arbitration better than her, which was proven after victories over both Mariano Rivera and Eric Gagne. She's been an assistant GM with both the Yankees and Dodgers, so she understands what it's like to work in a major market and a high-pressured environment. She knows the Dodgers players and their farm system as well as anyone. And she's been lavishly praised by everyone who's worked with her.

Wouldn't it be fitting that the first organization to break the color barrier, to open a Dominican Camp, to scout in Japan, to move West, would once again be pioneers by hiring the first female GM? Maybe I'm delusional, but somehow I think the vicious LA sports media would temper themselves in the presence of a lady. Maybe Bill Plaschke will wait only 10 minutes to bash Kim Ng instead of 10 seconds. Maybe she'll be given something of a chance.

It may be unorthodox, but considering the hole the Dodgers have dug for themselves, it's the right thing to do.

Oh, and as for the wrong thing to do, how about the Dodgers closing half of their Dominican camp, and offering to lease it to another Major League team? Way to lose some of that competitive advantage that me and my son Peter spent years building. What's the matter, Frank? Got more loans to pay off? What a disgrace you are to everything I worked towards.

All the CD 14ers are to busy pissing on cars in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium to realize what you are writing about. Smart Asian Women running a baseball team? No wonder there have been 0 responses. It can't compute for Los Dodgers fans.

Hey, if The Dodgers can fire Joe Cerrell and hire Howard Sunkin, they are capable of doing anything.

Anything, except of course, winning baseball games.

Why hire an Asian woman just because she's talented? Are you nuts? She just might ruin their plan to never win again.

They should just hire the Female Chink for Baseball!

What's next an Openly gay baseball player? Oh I forgot the Dodgers had that with Mike Piazza.

Archie
I seems you have a bone to pick with Asians. Last time it was Ted Lieu's win for Assembly, you used the same colorful label, "chink". It seems your not an equal opportunity offender when talking about other ethnicities in your rantings. I hope you would live up to the "Archie" you profess to be and insult everyone equally.
