Padilla the Next Unruh?

Anony-Blogger Marvin Lucas from Hack N Flak posts asking if LA's own Alex Padilla is the next Jess Unruh. Lest A-Pad get to happy, they quickly add that a certain Cindy Montanez stands in his way...
Democrat LA City Counncilman/wunderkind Alex Padilla is certainly making all the right moves (however, he is no Tom Cruise!) in his quest to win Sen. Richard Alarcon's soon to be vacated Senate seat. The following was posted by Shane Goldmacher at CA Observer:

On the Rise?
State senate candidate Alex Padilla (and current president of the Los Angeles city council) is taking on a new job this week: the presidency of the League of California Cities. The League, against Padilla's wishes, endorsed Gov. Schwarzenegger's Proposition 76 last Saturday. Padilla will face off in a hotly contested primary next June against Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez in the race to succeed Sen. Richard Alarcon.
posted by Shane Goldmacher at 9:32 AM

As noted by Shane, he must first get through Assemblywoman extraordinaire Cindy Montanez and her unmatched ground operation and support. Cindy will take some hits for not supporting Mayor Antonio in his early campaign (Boxer and Feinstein have already endorsed Padilla), but her support will come from the district where it counts.

Montañez reported an endorsement from the Assn. for Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies yesterday.

For those in the know, obviously not "Hack N Flak," it is Padilla who's going to take the the major blow for not endorsing early. Three weeks before election day and after seeing the writing on the wall..doesn't buy you much, but saving your presidency.

Product placement by Padilla with AV most recently would like you to believe that it was his team running the SFV campaign office since December. Even after Cardenas endorsed, he still sent his staff to Hahn.

Lameboy Padilla needs to learn first how to be a leader and take control of those dumb city council meetings. They don't respect him and they're out of control 3 times a week and he just sits on his ass.

I am interested in one of the previous posts above claiming that AP's colleagues don't respect him. How do you know for sure?, other than his colleagues bouncing around during the city council meetings. Perhaps that is just the political culture at city hall.

Padilla has lost the respect of his colleagues--no one is sure what he has done policy-wise since he has been there, he leaves meetings for three to four hours at a time when he shows up (has to go to fundraisers and political events for his campaign during council time), he is SUPPOSED to be in charge, but can't get things under control. Not just his fault, but no leadership. And don't get his colleagues started on his "leadership" during Sunshine Canyon. Conventional wisdom also has him screwing up the LA Live project as chair of a committee that he set up to give him political benefit. Whoops! Stay tuned for some big Montanez news, too.

My favorite part is not that it's just Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez in a hotly contested battle ------

It's Assemblywoman Extraordinaire and her unmatched ground operation and support!

And as far back as I can remember, she backed AV. That was a given.

He was only suppose to be president for 1 term, 2 tops. He's a showboat, and tied up the presidency so no other councilmember could have the position. He and Acevedo have used the redevelopment money for launching Alex's political career and keeping the power.

How much money has Acevedo gotten to fix up those buildings?

I am definitely supporting Montanez over Padilla. She is more experienced and won't be sold to the highest bidder like him.
