There is only ONE way to fix LAUSD and it is not popular, but extremely necessary.

All magnet programs must be eliminated. Every family in the City should have to purchase or rent a house/apartment in the school district they want to live in.

We have kids on buses from 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM. That is crazy. Then we try to blame the school board for all of the problems.

People who teach their children to lie to get into a school is teaching their children to lie about everything else for the rest of their lives. What kind of parenting is this??

Schools should be the fabric of the community. Kids should all know their neighbors and they should all walk to school together. We have junior high and high school students in my neighborhood who have their parents drive them 3 blocks. Just to add to the traffic congestion and smog; not to mention endanger a couple of the other children's lives.

Instead, we have entire neighborhoods of children who live 1-2 streets away from each other and never see each other. That is very sad and doesn't make for lifetime friendships.

I know this idea is too radical, but it is needed. This city doesn't have the balls to do that anymore than they have the balls to fix their other problems.

They'd rather pander. That sucks so bad.

Good Morning Mayor! Just heard on the news that LAUSD has experienced LOW ENROLLMENT for the 3rd year in a row, & Will lose approximately 1 million dollars.

The Magnet schools are fantastic, although it does discriminate if students from outside LAUSD districts are taking spaces away from neighborhood kids within the LAUSD.

LAUSD enrollment is DOWN, but Huizar is building 160 new schools at costs of multi-millions?

Who the hell is running this asylum, anyway!?

Ask the building inspectors on the Eastside about how they were told to turn a blind eye to Huizar's lack of proper permits to fix up and expand his own home, how he flashed his "I'm LAUSD" status around to get a pass on city requirements -- and how one inspector threatened to take it to the press if his superiors didn't back off and let him do his job.

One courageous nitwit with integrity trying to hold the line against the "old-ninyos" network. . .

7:05 - you continue to show your stupity. The "City" isn't in charge of LAUSD. You seem not to have a clue about basic Civics. (Also - your 4th paragraph - "People who teach . . . ARE" not "is." This is first grade English.) Good parents will do whatever it takes to provide their child a quality education!

LAUSD already requires residency and parents must show proof.

Magnet schools provide parents choices and encourage children to grow in areas where they have the most interest and flourish.

9:26 AM PLEEEEEEAAASE!!!!!!!

Show residency? Baca, Meyers live out of this district. Head east and you will find where the liars do live. (out of LAUSD district)

Will it take a lawsuit with proof of my allegations to reorganize Magnet Schools. Do investigate. Mentioned two families out of thousands.

Anon 7:05, who knows who this person is, but 9:26 claims to be King of English Grammar, so go ahead and teach at LAUSD jackass.

I didn't claim to be the king at all. I just pointed out that you can't perform basic English conjugation.

Go ahead and sue. You think some little lawsuit like that is going to eliminate Magnet Schools?

You're a bigger moron than you lead on.

Your friend,
Jackass

Dear Jackass,

Magnet schools are not a problem. This program is necessary in our school system and beneficial to students. What is wrong is the excessive fraud from non district student's parents who by all means, use several methods of this fraud to put the kids in Magnet. This fraud causes district kids to be shun away from an opportunity in the Magnet Program.

This same argument is used by Culver City, Santa Monica and other school districts, claiming that LAUSD kids end up in their districts.

I haven't heard about the rampant push for people to get their kids INTO LAUSD, rather the opposite.

Today's article in the LA Times seems to back up this argument.

You really hate to comprehend. I will say it for the third time, I am against FRAUD. I am against parents who commit fraud in order to get kids into the Magnet. I am not against the magnet program, on the contrary, parents who lie shoulc be held accountable.

The problem with LAUSD is neither fraud nor parents the miniscule number of parents who lie to get their kids a better education.

LAUSD is managed poorly and is FAR TOO BUREAUCRATIC. Your petty complaint fails to measure up to being a serious problem. It's comparable to arguing that the oil crisis is a result of drivers who don't keep their tires at the recommended pressure levels and waste gas.

That's why you're a moron!

Love,
Jackass

Ok Queen Starbucks,

You said, "The problem with LAUSD is neither fraud nor parents the miniscule number of parents who lie to get their kids a better education"

The parents who chose to LIE live in neighborhoods which provide adequate education. Example, Covina, West Covina, Bell, Alhambra, and Duarte. These are just a few I have mentioned. Why do you feel these kids will get a better education if they live in good areas? These middle class kids take away space from LAUSD kids. From what I gather in your responses, it is ok for a student from Covina to attend (fraudulently) an LAUSD Magnet?

October 12, 2005 10:36 PM

Yeah, that's why there are 20,000 fewer students enrolled in LAUSD this year - because kids from outside areas are flooding our schools.

I repeat, YOU ARE A MORON!

20k LESS KIDS THIS YEAR. WHY IS YOUR SUP CONSTRUCTING MORE SCHOOLS. BY THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING, NO NEW SCHOOLS ARE NEEDED.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR JOB IS THREATENED. THEN GO TEACH AND STOP BULLSHITTING JACKASS.

What are you talking about? I'm opposed to the bond measure for new new schools. It's an incredible waste.

This School Board can't graduate the majority of kids. They wasted $100,000,000 on one fuc*in' high school. And test scores are abyssmal.

The only thing I've said is that its moronic thinking to suggest that a few parents who may be lying to get their kids into a magnet school is a critical issue.

Reading comprehension - it's a challenge for the LAUSD students too.

Respectfully,
Jackass
