Where is Charles Fitzgerald? Day Thirteen
Perhaps in a nod to Chief Parker the Villaraigosa campaign earlier today released this press release.
Where in the World is Charles Fitzgerald?
In 2001, Charles Fitzgerald sent two mailers attacking Antonio Villaraigosa, at a cost of $70,000. In that same election Charles Fitzgerald and his associated companies donated $23,000 to Hahn’s 2001 campaigns. One of Fitzgerald’s companies gave Hahn’s officerholder account a $1,000 check in November 2002. Jim Hahn says he can’t give back much of this money because the committees are closed – well this one is still open.
On March 11, 2005 the people who were demanding their money back from Charles Fitzgerald asked Jim Hahn’s campaign to refund this money to them. According to court documents Jim Hahn has refused to even answer their letter.
It’s a good thing that Jim Hahn can send the money back to the Fitzgerald’s victims – because Charles Fitzgerald is a fugitive who has fled to the South Pacific Island of Vanu Atu. Because this chain of islands has no extradition treaty with the United States it is a notorious haven for tax cheats.
Since Jim Hahn has been asking so many questions recently, he should be able to start answering a few that he has so far refused to answer:
Did Jim Hahn ever meet with Charles Fitzgerald – a man who personally spent $70,000 on his campaign?
What did he talk to Mark Abrams and Charles Fitzgerald about when he met with them?
Will Jim Hahn give back the $94,000 he took from Charles Fitzgerald?
If Hahn won’t give back the $94,000, how about at least giving back the $1,000 he took for his still active officeholder account?
Then later in the day i got this e-mail.
Councilmember Dennis Zine Abandons Hahn, Endorses Villaraigosa
Zine and Other Public Safety Professionals Say Antonio Will Make L.A. Safer
LOS ANGELES – After initially supporting James Hahn earlier this year, Councilmember Dennis Zine withdrew that endorsement today and announced his support for Antonio Villaraigosa. Zine is the latest in a series of leaders, including Earvin Magic Johnson and Controller Laura Chick, who have made the switch from Hahn to Villaraigosa.
“Today I enthusiastically announce my support for my colleague and friend Councilmember - and future mayor - Antonio Villaraigosa. During his tenure on the city council Antonio has shown that he has the energy, determination, and cooperative sprit needed to revitalize this great city. After over 37-years with the Los Angeles Police Department I have seen mayors come and go, but in all my years I have never seen someone as dedicated to improving public safety as Antonio. His ongoing support of Chief Bratton, and commitment to the dedicated men and women of the LAPD, assure me that Los Angeles will be a safer more prosperous city with Antonio Villaraigosa as mayor.”
“I am honored to receive the trust and support of Dennis Zine, someone who has dedicated the majority of his life to law enforcement and public service,” said Villaraigosa. “It is a pleasure to work with him on the council and as mayor, I will tap on his experience as a police officer to fight crime and make our neighborhoods safer.”
Zine and Villaraigosa were joined by law enforcement professionals at a news conference at the new West Valley police station. The visit marked day four of Villaraigosa’s “Leading on the Issues Tour.” Earlier this week, Villaraigosa outlined new education and health care proposals.
Today, he released several specific proposals for public safety:
--Double the number of Senior Lead Officers in our city from the 168 we have today.
--Expand an overtime initiative to provide an immediate boost to our force levels.
--Double the number of officers in our gang unit from 300 to 600. We will expand our violent crime task forces to target the worst of the worst and take them off our streets.
--Dramatically expand foot patrols in neighborhood business districts and parks and put more officers on bike patrol in neighborhoods throughout our city.
Villaraigosa spoke about his record of accomplishment in protecting our families and neighborhoods. This year, led by Villaraigosa, the city council approved measures to hire 359 police officers. In addition, Antonio authored an Enhanced Overtime Initiative for the LAPD that will dedicate additional city settlement funds for overtime patrols in hot spots throughout the city.
“As Mayor, I will build on my record of putting more cops on the street, provide officers with the tools and resources they need to fight crime, and increase punishment and tougher penalties for criminals,” said Villaraigosa.
While in the Assembly, Villaraigosa led the charge for tougher punishment against gangs including stronger penalties for gang members carrying concealed weapons. He co-authored the Community Law Enforcement and Recovery Act (CLEAR) that provided funding for aggressive response to the threat posed by gangs.
As Councilmember of the 14th district, he has worked closely with community leaders to fight crime and establish dozens of new Neighborhood Watch Associations.
Law enforcement organizations supporting Villaraigosa include:
Latino Police Officers Association, California Chapter
L.A. County Probation Officers Association -- AFSCME #685
Latin American Law Enforcement Association (LaLey)
Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation
Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacific Islanders (LEAAP)
No e-mails from Hahn means no posting for Hahn.

Mayor Sam,
If I find Charles for you, will you promise me you will stay in that island with him and never come back?
Your Blog Topics are so way off, its pathetic, but I guess this is what amuses you, Ace. Spin it, Censor it, Deny it all you want, however the people will know the truth, not the bias crap you fork out for cat fights.

Maybe Zine can do personal duty and protect Villaraigosa from angry Florida politicans, home builders, health management CEO's, drug dealers...the list goes on...and that does not include all of the angry people he has locally.

Athena (aka Parke Skelton),
Don't try to deny this one. All the money in the world will not replace the way he acquired majority of it, by laundering and illegally.
Parke, just wait until the Republicans start a grass roots conversion, you will be looking for another state to live in.

Remember Skelton,
June 4, 1991?

Skelton,
Go look for some rent control intitiative you might want to fight for, ADV will not give you the outlet you crave, he will bring you down with him if he loses.

With Antonio outraising Hahn by at least $50,000 a day, don't be surprised if Antonio has a half-million advangtage or so over Hahn when the filings are released today.
Well, well, well, what we have here is someone proud to have raised funds regardless of it's source. You have land thieves, drug dealers, unethical health management CEO's involved in fundraising scandals, company owners, employees, and family members connected to airport business...where else can this money be from? Oh Yes, the teachers union, the group that achieved, on their own, to create an embarrassing 50% plus drop out rate here in Los Angeles, and many more disclosures to come soon.

Chief Parker says, "I don't really care who gave them the money"
Guess what?
The people do care!
The voters do care!
Ethical people do care!

Chief Parker,
If you feel that somber about the election, then maybe the people should just stay home and not vote. Why should they vote for two corrupt individuals that have no merit. Each candidate charges the other is incapable of leading this city. Maybe they both are speaking the truth on that particular issue--both candidates are mediocre at best. There should be a recall on both money laundering candidates, right? It doesn't matter how long the crime record is, what matters is that a crime was made and they should pay for their crimes-accountability!
This entire Mayoral race is a sham, and has cheated the voters out of a real competition. Why should the people have to settle for them. There should be a recall on both, no Mayor, let the NC's govern themselves, I am sure they would do a better job. Let the department heads do their job without a pretty boy telling them what to do...that would be real government, by the people, not crooks.

Fitzgerald
Meruelo
No diff...

Murelo stole the school site and is spending more on Anti-Hahn than Fitzgerald did. He's too arrogant to hide, so far. But ADV embraces him!!

Your SO smart, Chief Parker you KNOW ADV isn't corrupt.
Just like you know where all the 80 invisible neighborhood watches are!
HA!
You "know" nothing; and your opinions are worthless.
Anonymous said:
NC's should have a bigger role and control, however I disagree with you thinking Villaraigosa is not corrupt--it's in plain view--Villaraigosa is corrupt. Muruelo and Fitzgerald are two different situations. I agree they are both corrupt too, but the cases are different. The Muruelo case implicates Antonio directly.

L.A. Sentinel is not one of the top 5 ethnic newspapers serving the African American communtiy in L.A. It's loud but small circulation less than 20,000 and shrinking. Hasn't been a major factor in L.A. since the Watts riots.

Thanks for the comment Chief Parker, but Villaraigosa is liberal and corrupt. You and I agree on more power to NC's but disagree on pretty boy candidate Villaraigosa. Based on facts, evidence, he is corrupt.

Funny, no one outside this blog gives a rats ass about Charles Fitzgerald... Post it till day 999 -- no one's biting.
Write a history book, the news media is picking up the dirt in THIS election, not the one 4 years ago, or in between.
THIS time ADV is a criminal at worst, or a really stupid pol at best.
Either way, his slide down continues.

The corruption with Villaraigosa is not just Muruelo, it is also other people and sectors of government he has compromised. Theres no crediblity on raising millions if it's mostly dirty money.

Funny how you have to keep going FURTHER and further back to:
-- Find OLD dirt on Hahn (that's never been proven or connected to him);
AND,
-- Find ACCOMPLISHMENTS for ADV to brag about.
Sounds like maybe Tony should have won the LAST mayor's race, and was the better candidate then, but that's water under the bridge.
THIS YEAR, he's a do-nothing councilmember who neglected his district to position himself for payback, and Hahn is a moderately successful big city mayor with a lot of unproven innuendo circling around (at ADV's insistence).
It sitting on your ass and collecting $300,000 for doing nothing in CD14 isn't CORRUPT, then no one is. That's MORE money than Murelo, Fitgerald and all the Florida giftshop companies combined have played games with.
But that was THEIR money. Do-nothing ADV stole OUR money, and used it to support his lifestyle without earning it. He pimped his district to get a better job.
That IS corrupt, period, exclamation point!!!

The way Villaraigosa's staff has spun this Muruelo, or the attempt to spin it, shows how relevent it is to the election.
Everytime the camp raises Fitzgerald, they sound childish. It makes Villaraigosa's image as immature. When you scold a child, you don't have time for the child to be pointing fingers at everyone else instead of taking responsibility. Villaraigosa puts an image of taking responsibility, but when he gave the money back with hestitation, after alot of pressure, he just wanted the whole issue to go away. Things don't quite work that way AV.
Anonymous said:
The two choices are mediocre, but Villaraigosa will guarantee chaos. Did you notice the school racial tensions escalated during the mayor's election. The thought of the First corrupted Mexican American Mayor does not sit well with everyone. If Villaraigosa was not corrupt, maybe he would have had a chance, but he really has not worked in the last two years, or brought the community closer. I have never seen this community with such friction before, Villaraigosa has accomplished a divisive tactic on it's residents.

LA Sentinel owned by Danny Bakewell, Mr. Violence who wanted the blacks to riot not that long ago. He's the most racist black in the city. Zine made himself look like an ass. The rank and file don't support ADV and have said there will be a MASS EXODUS if ADV wins. They hate Parks and ADV's alignment with him infuriates them. Funny MEAT ADV had only 1 officer with him today. ADV opposed having gang members register with local law enforcement while in assembly. YEs, it sounds like he's for public safety. He has 15 homicides in his own district and hasn't done anyting. Sure sounds like he's proactive. Zine has proven to be a two faced coward and a kiss ass to the wrong person. He's the one who wanted PARKS gone more then Hahn. He just was to balless to let anyone know.

ADV is excited the little police organizations endorsed him. Let's see LA LEY those old time Latino cops who have a photo riding in a low rider on their website and can't get passed the 60's. Oscar Joel Bryant who have less then 50 members and are the racist blacks on LAPD. Their mentality is stuck way back saying they've been slaves for over 100 years. Then you have Asian Pacific with less then 30 members and is headed by Cmdr. Kim. Kim's 12 yr old daughter had to call Long Beach police because DADDY Kim was beating the hell out of mommy. He was booked and arrested. His buddy Parks promoted him knowing this.Yup, these are the type of coppers ADV has backing him. Think they all have one thing in common. They are uneducated, classless, men who have no brains and are stuck with the same victim mentality.
