Jim Hahn vs. The Valley

Valley VoteA member of the Hahn Cut & Paste Crew decided to bring over a negative letter on Tony Villar to the Sister City from today's Daily News. He forgot to bring over the other one in which a Valley resident praised Tony Villar and detailed some of Jim Hahn's many broken promises to the Valley.

Re "Villaraigosa for mayor" (Editorial, May 1):

Thank you, Daily News: Your endorsement of Antonio Villaraigosa was refreshing and 100 percent correct. This Valley voter wants the guy that gave LAFCO the $1.3 million to study secession so my neighbors could have a chance at independence.

This Valley voter wants the guy that opposes Van Nuys airport noise pollution. Wants to shut down Sunshine and Bradley dumps - as a city councilman he has provided 359 cops, compare that with Hahn's broken promises. Hahn's only accomplishment in his four years is his penchant for FBI investigations and DA inquiries, what an embarrassment.

Michael Trujillo
Mission Hills

Cityhood! We remember that Jim Hahn is the one who - through what many would call corrupt campaign practices - opposed our drive for indpendence in the Valley, that which we truly deserved. That is why we will punish Jim Hahn and secede from him on May 17th.

Some of those with a hard on for Jim Hahn have accused us of not promoting articles in the local press that could benefit our lousy Mayor. We sort of figure that most of you know how to pick up a newspaper or surf the Daily News or LA Times website, but just in case you Hahn crew folks can't do that, here are some picks for you:

You liberals are pathetic, this is the way you feed out a cat fight. You get the Valley wild and crazy over this topic and gain a couple of votes for Villaraigosa. Either candidate is a lame excuse of a politician. You have one who will accept and do favors for money from any source regardless if it's illegal, another who has another scandal in his hands and these two are what is left in the candy jar. The candy must be old and moldy. Los Angeles has been cheated out of an honest and sincere election. Ethics have been thrown out the door, and this biased site should be called, blog here the site that asks Villaraigosa what we can and can't post as topics. You liberals are literally insane and this is why the city is going to be more corrupt with either candidate. As for the title "Jim Hahn vs. The Valley" it is a clear attempt to falsly engage the Valley residents into a non existent issue of what this blog is "Jim Hahn vs. Villaraigosa." Villaraigosa will not favor a secession in the future, he says that now, but look at his entire voting record. He has plans, and he needs the Valley in order for his plans to work. So Mayor Sam stop spinning so much, you might just fall sooner than you think. As for the Mayor's race, the Republicans should engage in a grass roots campaign for the next major election to convert the voters to the Republican party. The day this happens then you will see your buddy Villaraigosa crying for Hahn to unite and fight the other threatening party-republicans...

You also forgot to mention there were three VERY Anti-ADV letters in the initial post-endorsment blast the day before, with nothing pro-Tony. The Valley readers are NOT responding 50/50 to their homegrown paper's choice... not even 70/30.

Parsing, and selective cenorship doesn't serve your cause well in a wide open media world -- just makes you look as out-of-touch ad the bedheads on the ADV blog.

And you NEVER, EVER missed posting or linking a Times article that baked Hahn, OR ADV, pre-primary.

So you endorsed the little empty suit, does that mean you have to bend over and show him where to insert it? At least make him buy you dinner first, shit -- he'll probably go "dutch" with you at Kate Mantellini if you promise him a REAL good time afterwards. (Might even visit the men's room and leave a memento:

If life was fair, Tony would be the one in jail for attempted rape, drug dealing, brawling, gang banging, child abuse, the list goes on and on. Go on , give us a good reason why Pacheco should be in jail - if you can't, I suppose Mayor Sham whould remove your post, right.

And BTW, Michael Trujillo doesn't exactly fit the "Valley Voter" profile. As for being liberal Mayor Sham - tell me who your firends are and I'll tell you who you are - your best friend in the world right now is Tony - be sure to sleep with your back against the wall!

Ever hear of "bearing false witness," witless one. Okay, so here's the kicker. So ADV goes ahead and wins for mayor -- Rocky D. goes to state, and Hahn runs for that job, then IMMEDIATELY starts putting the screws to ADV's administration making his the most INDICTED and GUILTY (no, REALLY guilty) mayoral administration in 100 years.

HA, now THAT's payback, cuz' you KNOW ADV is SO very dirty, always!

With all the homicides in his district what a waste. If these officers are from Northeast then they're the same ones who keep telling us that ADV is the biggest player and they hope the women he's had affairs with come out. They don't want a mayor who has aligned themselves with Parks who destroyed their dept. and covered up RAmpart and made things worst for them. Let alone Antonio supports GANGS.

BTW, are you that proud of an LAUSD system that promotes people based on race and achieves an over 50% drop out rate. A school system like this in a respectable country would have been closed down. Why would the teachers union support AV. I believe they know even thought Mr. ripoff Muruelo is his friend, he won't make any waves or major changes that is threatening to their jobs. The teachers are sedentary in their ways and do not like changes, this is why the kids lose out. No competition. So the LAUSD performs on a bankrupt mentality and shortchanges the students from a real education. They lack positive achievement and promote by association. Why would Los Angeles residents want to keep this type of socialistic school system in place. One that has proven Not to work. The small school initiative is not going to work if they keep the same teachers, same beaurocracy, and same teaching mentality. You need innovation, new staff, new pay, and new competition.

FEDERAL INQUIRY

Deutsch's calls for a public airing of the probe into Penelas' fundraising is based on contributions to Penelas' campaign from associates and employees of CarePlus Medical Centers, whose owner told employees in March that they were each ''expected'' to give Penelas $1,000.

Such contributions are considered coerced and are illegal, and Penelas' campaign has said the mayor would not accept the contributions.

A Herald analysis of campaign finance data, though, found that Penelas took at least $68,000 from the company's employees, their relatives and business associates. The campaign has said the donations came not through the e-mail solicitation but from a fundraising reception held at the home of the firm's owner in May.

AP reports:

U.S. Rep. Peter Deutsch filed a complaint Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission alleging that Democratic rival Alex Penelas illegally coerced donations from a South Florida health care company in their U.S. Senate race.
The complaint by Deutsch, D-Pembroke Pines, accuses the Miami-Dade County mayor of receiving at least $49,000 in illegal contributions from 41 employees and their spouses of CarePlus Medical Centers Inc. Both are competing for the seat of Sen. Bob Graham, who is running for president.

The Miami Herald has more details:

Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas, whose campaign pledged to reject contributions for his U.S. Senate campaign resulting from a controversial e-mail appeal sent to employees of a South Florida healthcare firm, took tens of thousands of dollars from people associated with the company.
A Herald analysis of campaign finance records shows that employees, relatives and business associates of Michael Fernandez, owner and chief executive officer of CarePlus Medical Centers Inc., donated at least $68,000 to Penelas' campaign -- all connected to the same day in May that Fernandez hosted a fundraiser at his home.

After touting his plan to cut the cost of prescription drugs at Good Samaritan Hospital near MacArthur Park, Villaraigosa fended off questions from reporters about campaign donations from Florida that Hahn has made the central focus of his first ad.

"I want to talk about my vision for Los Angeles; I don't want to respond every single day to Jim Hahn," Villaraigosa said.

He said there was nothing "questionable," as a reporter had suggested, about the $47,000 in Florida donations that Villaraigosa pledged last week to return.

"I gave it back because I wanted to absolutely establish that there was no issue there," he said. "It was not questionable. I decided I'm going to separate myself from Jim Hahn, accept responsibility. If someone has a question, or an issue, then so be it."

The title of this post is "Jim Hahn vs. The Valley"

I'm confused here.

Yes, it is true, I've been gone a few years, but things seem to have changed.

I was looking at this thing and notice that Alex Padilla, the City Council President has endorsed Villaraigosa; Councilman Dennis Zine, who was supporting Hahn has switched to Villaraigosa.

I don't think Tony Cardenas has made a choice yet.

But, Laura Chick and Jack Weiss have been supporting Villaraigosa.

Other electeds, like former Speaker Bob Hertzberg, Senator Richard Alarcon, former Mayor Dick Riordan, Assemblyman Keith Richman and Congressman Brad Sherman support Villaraigosa.

Civic Leaders like Richard Close, Gordon Murley, Polly Ward and Dave Fleming support Villaraigosa.

Oh yeah, The Valley Green Sheet, the bible of the Valley (well, that's what it was when I was around) now known as The Daily News has endorsed Villaraigosa.

That's about all I can think of, except for the Hal Bernson crew, like Greig Smith, Bert Boeckmann and Ted Stein, who support Jimmy.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen much of Ted Stein lately. Wonder where he is...

So, how is it that Jimmy Hahn is claiming that The Valley supports HIM?

Am I missing something?

Isn't he still collecting his paychecks? When is someone going to call him on being the most absentee councilmember -- practically ever.

Is there some unwritten rule that says that when you're suspected of being the leader for another job you can just skip out whenever you want.

There were voted being cast today that were critical to his district and the city? But he LOVES this city, right?

But he only "loves" this city if he can BE ON TOP of it, apparently.

Give back the paychecks, ADV. You've got tons of money now -- and you're holding back one million from your district.

How about using the salary you haven't earned in two years to pay 3-4 cops for a year.

MEAT, again, don't know SHIT about neighborhood watches -- even invisible ones.

If ADV while absent from the city for weeks on end HAD started a bunch of new watches, somehow, they would NOT be in Northeast.

Most of CD14 -- nearly 2/3 is in Hollenbeck. The pieces of CD14 in Northeast are the quieter, wealthier, least crime-ridden areas of his district. The larger pieces of NE, like Highland Park, have had watches for ages. The highest CRIME areas in NE are in CD1.

Any POSSIBLE growth in the number of watches would have been in the central and south of the district -- NOT in NE division, and NE officers don't even know the NAMES of most of the patrol officers across the freeway, let along what does on there.

BS, BS, BS, squared, cubed, and petrified. I can smell the BS though my computer, you stupid MEAT moron.

(from L.A. Times)

The Los Angeles City Council took a key step Wednesday toward creating a prescription drug discount program for residents, a victory for the plan's author, Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa.

The mayoral candidate has been stung
by frequent criticism from Mayor James K. Hahn that he has done little in his two years on the council, but with 12 days left in the campaign, Villaraigosa has an important legislative accomplishment in his pocket.

Antonio Villaraigosa has said during his campaign for mayor that fixing Los Angeles' schools is a top priority, but the city councilman has skipped 46% of the meetings of the council's Education and Neighborhoods Committee since he was appointed to the panel in 2003.

(YES, it also says Hahn's been absent from key committees).

But HOW MANY COMMITTEES IS ADV on in city council... Two, three maybe. And he MISSES half of the meetings for the one that's his PRIORITY!

Villaraigosa has missed 21 of the 220 council meetings held since he took office in July 2003, about 9.5% of all sessions. He is chairman of the council's Transportation Committee and has missed 5 of 34 meetings since he took over in 2003.....12 of the 26 meetings of the Education and Neighborhoods Committee.

Let's not forget the $20 million Antonio forgot to collect for parking fines last year as Chair of Transportation Committee.

What an idiot! This late in the game he comes out. Zine has shown people what a two faced coward he is.

If you don't like what I have to say post a freaking comment and disagree with me moron.

Just because three people write anti-Villar letters to the Daily News does not mean a groundswell for/against Tony. Lots of people write letters to the Daily News all the time, so much so they print a list of all the letter writers at the end of the year. Vic Viercek was one of those anti-Villar guys, he is a longtime Republican activist, anti-CRA guy.

Just because your mommy says you are, doesn't mean you're a man, shit for brains.

Fact of the matter is those people's letters get read and of course the Daily News never mentioned the ACLU connection in their endorsement. I use to like Zine. If it wld have been the other way around of him switching I wld still call him a coward coming out so late. I'm sure officers will let him know what they think. They don't want to see a gang supporter and a mayor who has a police record.

What do these two have in Common?

They are 3,000 miles apart but the bond that keeps them together is Joe Ramallo. He is currently the communications director for Villaraigosa and used to be Asst. Director of Policy for Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas (during his illegal fundraising probes that are almost identical to what Villaraigosa's current tactics)

NO, we are ALL excited about the recall.

We have been promised a success by Eliseo so that this election, which is going badly for us right now by all indications, can be turned around, once the people of Los Angeles know the true feelings of the voters in CD 14.

The recall is the opportunity to share this support with the rest of the city!

Eliseo has led the charge and should be honored for his success by all who want to take down ADV.

I say, I am interested as well!

We are all waiting to honor Eliseo!

Eliseo is King!

"Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas...A Herald analysis of campaign finance records shows that employees, relatives and business associates of Michael Fernandez, owner and chief executive officer of CarePlus Medical Centers Inc., donated at least $68,000 to Penelas' campaign -- all connected to the same day in May that Fernandez hosted a fundraiser at his home...The e-mail cited potential reforms by Penelas ''that could represent opportunities for companies like ours to increase revenue.'' The e-mail asked that each person donate $1,000 to the mayor's Senate campaign..."

Nobody's saying you need to be fair, MS. You endorsed ADV, and that sure ain't fair to the city of L.A. is he wins.

You just shouldn't try to pretend your basing your opinions on reason or rationality. You hate Hahn -- not for what he's done or hasn't done (because ADV has and will do less in EVERY category).

You have your reasons, and it MUST have something to do with Hahn having made you his bitch at some time in the past. Nobody gets THAT worked up over just politics. It HAS to be personal. It is for ADV, always!

Well, we know who that's most likely to hurt -- ADV has raised more money, from more diverse, questionable far flung sources.

Hahn's been raising money longer, and the story's JUST come out. Badda bing, ADV's the target of most of the new investigations.

He'll soon be the "most investigated mayoral candidate" in the City's history.

Again, trapped and tangled up in his own clever taglines.

Hahn BLASTS ADV in Eagle Rock today over missing the most critical meetings of his "priority" education committee and has some other education rebuffs of Tony V..

ADV's spin back is LAME -- "nothing important going on in that committee". . .

SO, slacker ADV is ONLY on two commitees (most CM are on 4-6). He loses $20 million in the ONLY one he chairs, and the other one is not "important" enough to even attend.

Hell, we apparently don't even NEED a CM in CD14... good thing it's him minding the store and hording the $1 million-plus in district funds. Wouldn't want to waste anything more than an EMPTY SUIT on that make-work, government job, would we?

Now if we could only get the $300K in salary he's stolen the past two years back!

FYI, Richard Meruelo's favorite tenant Dov Charney of American Apparel.

Since 2003 American Apparel owner Dov Charney has openly threatened employees and interfered the their attempts to form a union with UNITE!

American Apparel has been sited by the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board), but policies toward the workers have not changed.

Why do we continue to tolerate so called "progressive" corporations who use left-wing politics as a marketing scheme? Why accept advertisement from them?

$300K -- that would almost pay for his LAPD bodyguard contingent.

Why does a guy with an "81 percent approval rating" -- "30 points up in the (bogus) poll" (HA!) - who's MR. CONSENSUS and "brings people together" - need a bodyguard?

Because all of the above is a lie, and spin.

He's made more enemies than the last 3 CD14 councilmembers combined, and in ONLY two years. And it's NOT because of Hahn -- it's because of lying to the district and using it as campaign fodder, neglecting the hard work of its people.

The joke in CD14 is where's WALDO? (Antonio) ADV screwed up blasting Hahn for the last year. Then he turns around and gets caught doing much worse. Agreed poster the media picks up stories here. Mayor Sam and Chief Parker use to be more balanced. Since you endorsed ADV the articles you post in one day are a sure sign of desperation. Glad to see you posted the newspaper articles on this one. Gotta give tons of credit to David Z of Daily Breezew. He made the others look like grade school reporters. David shld have his own talk show like Geraldo, Hanity and Combs, maybe even O'Reily. RIGHT, ADV is getting death threats... more like "I need to go into my 'victim routine' - that's always worked best for me."

I'm not "good" as the hard charger... works better if people "pity" me and fell the need to "protect" me from the baddies, sez ADV.

Bogus, bogus, bogus. Next he'll be going into a fake Jacko-in-court routine -- hyperventilating, calling for on-site medics.

What a wimp! I don't believe this guy really grew up on the Eastside. Must have been a REAL pussy town back then.

Villaraigosa staffer (in the know) mentioned it was because of a death threat, but I did not believe it either. That his neighborhood is getting hostile from the lies spread around the district.

I also think he did request it, but the reason he gave is BS. With 16 homocides in the area, he should understand that every life is important, not just his "pretty" face. Have you seen him lately, he should have a cosmetic surgeon connection, he needs one.

It's all true. Hahn did almost nothing for the Valley and until recently didn't have any decent staff to go out there and at least pretend he cared. But Villariagosa is married to Miguel and Elena and they will run the city while he is out running for some higher office. If you want the unions running the city even more than they do now, you vote for ADV and if you can live with the status quo, for four years, you vote Hahn. Three mayors is too much of a crowd for me.
