And you want to re-elect this clown? How do you let a wacked out, less than a million population burg catch this tremendous opportunity over the second largest city in the nation?

I posted here weeks and weeks ago that San Francisco would be the HQ of the stem cell initiative. It was a done deal before the screw up by the mayor's people. No excuse, of course. But a perfect proposal from LA would not have secured a winning bid. (However, I understand the stem cell people had a good laugh about the inclusion in the LA proposal of the use (sometimes) of Eli Broad's jet)

If ADV's "stellar" campaign staff let large contributions through undetected from 20 completely unbelievable sources (secretaries, CSR's, etc.) at one company looking to do business with the city, while they bragged about their fundraising capabilities, just THINK what's next on the assembly line of botched campaign tactics.
Can't ADV, with ALL that money, cut a NEW ad for TV that 95 percent of the viewers haven't seen 95 times already since February? Is this campaigning or socialist indoctrination techniques.

There were several requirments stated in the RFP.
One was for two floors to be connected with an internal stairwell and the other was for a guaranteed term of lease on the facility. This was not brain surgery.
Deputy Mayor Renata, and therefore, LA, omitted to include compliance with these two REQUIREMENTS.
You guys can have your own opinions, but you can't have your own facts.
The facts are the facts, and the facts are that LA did not properly respond and was DISQUALIFIED.

Dang, his moronic staff couldn't figure out how to START (not COMPLETE, just START), an $80,000 dog parke INSIDE the city of L.A. working with just CITY departments and the CITY attorney, given more than a YEAR to do it. And all THEY they had to do was send some memos back and forth to start the process. All the REAL work was being done by OTHER departments (who were ready, waiting and puzzled by the delays).
And that was one of the EASIEST of the 30-40 projects sitting on the shelf for TWO YEARS in the district -- no opposition, plenty of precedence in the city for how to do it. A cookie-cutter process.
But Tony's "cookies" aren't hired because they can "cut" it (if you know what I mean -- wink, wink).
I don't know who this Renata is, but I GUARANTEE she's Einstein compared to the smartest person ADV has ever hired in CD14. Hell, she's TWO Einsteins. If they got the application in the MAIL, they're light years ahead of ADV's staffers.

His qualifications are: He was a union leader (a negative), he was president of the American Civil Liberties Union (a negative), he is a California Democrat (a negative, but so is Hahn), he was a leader in the California Assembly when California was falling into the pit (a negative), and John Kerry and Maxine Waters endorse him (a negative). Question: Why would you endorse him? You should know your enemies.
And James Hahn? Everything negative you have said about him is true. Again, you should know your enemies. I think it is time to demand a "none of the above" option on the ballot and, in this case, leave the office vacant for four years. At least, if there is no mayor, the mayor can't hurt you.

In the editorial "Villaraigosa for mayor" (May 1), the Daily News says the "choice could not be clearer" and also expresses a concern that Los Angeles does not become two cities, one rich, one poor, without a thriving middle class.
Unfortunately, both candidates have similar backing and similar ideas. Antonio Villaraigosa's creation of well-paying jobs appears to be more through mandates, rather than good business growth, and both candidates favor oppressive, investment-killing regulations when it comes to the most prevalent and historic way (rental housing) for many people to achieve middle-class (and higher) status.

James Hahn has made public safety a top priority for Los Angeles. Crime is down. Hahn brought back community policing and our senior lead officers. We have one of the best police chiefs in the nation, William Bratton, and the Los Angeles Police Department's rank and file, depleted under Chief Bernard Parks - we lost 1,000 officers - is increasing.
On the other hand, there is Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa, who while a leader of the ACLU opposed gang injunctions. Villaraigosa thought more of the rights of gang members than those of hard-working families. Boyle Heights in his district has 15 homicides, and Villaraigosa has yet to address that a problem even exists. He's been too busy campaigning. The choice is obvious: Mayor Hahn.

Hahn has "paid" me for four years by doing a decent, although not excellent job as mayor -- but nevertheless decreasing crime, holding our utilities stable while the state was browning out, giving us better constituent service through 311, expanding after school programs, listening to and equippping neighborhood councils whose board members I voted for, and bringing some new jobs and additional cops to L.A. in spite of a tough economy and a do-nothing (L.A. Weekly) city council.
ADV, on the other hand, has "rewarded" me and other CD14 residents with inept and arrogant staff hires, negligent or usually non-existent constitutent service, absentee and ineffective representation on City council and in key committees like Transporation and Educations, inattentiveness to ANY kind of community input - including the advisory neighborhood councils, ignorance of all city operations to the point of stagnancy in civic upkeep and improvements in the district, inability to move any substantive project to completion in the district, inability to move any progressive program though city council.
ADV will "pay" the city the same type of "rewards" given the opportunity.
He knows no better. . . he is a only a "rhetorical" public servant.
Oh, and I forgot, ADV also "pays" himself to run for mayor using the salary designated for a functioning city councilmember -- something he's not!

They don't know enough about how poorly things have worked in CD14 for the last two years to post this kind of stuff. This is coming from on-the-ground, eyewitness accounts of the moronic decisions and paralytic movement from CD14's field staff and their absentee boss.
Even many of his supporters, close to the Holy Hill, know this, and just turn a blind, somewhat embarrassed eye and say, "Well... he'll be 'better' as mayor... it's more 'big picture' and he's more visionary."
What? I thought he was "hands on"... are his ads lying? (yes)
Please -- his VISION is ONLY trained on the next job, already (and I don't mean MARE of L.A.)
MARE... that's right. How come the people who beat Bush up as a "moron" for not being able to pronounce the three-syllables of "Nu-cle-ar" correctly, look the other way when ADV can't say the two-syllable May-or, without sounding like he's talking about a female horse?
(Save the "ethnic/racist" barbs... has nothing to do with that). Those syllables aren't pronounced anything like MARE in Spanish, either.
Attn: For all of you that are saying Villaraigosa does not work, think again, he is supposed to be working on May 7th, 2005.

Not enough time? Are you kidding. They're lucky if they have to file one story at day at the TIMES. Why do you think they call it the "velvet coffin" in the trade. Good, energetic reporters get hired in there and become soft and die of atrophy.
Rip the wire, read the news release, makes 3-4 phone calls, take a 2-3 hour lunch with cronies, surf the net for a couple hours, crank out 1,000 words or so a day. Clock out by 4:30.
Tough gig. No wonder they're impressed with ADV's "energy".
PLEASE, community clean-ups are photo-ops for ADV. He scheduled more in the 6-8 months SINCE filing for mayor than during the 1+ year before. Public works supplies the materials, he shows up to grandstand.
Show up, give a pep-talk, push a broom for a few minutes, shake some hands, avoid the media's questions, be at a fundraising coffee by mid-morning, while your staff stands around watching people pick up scraps of paper.
DO YOU REALLY think he's going to dedicate 4 hours on a Saturday 10 days before the election to CLEANING the district he's ignored for TWO YEARS.
This is ANOTHER example of the city paying for his campaigning.
Then they count the crowd, multiple by 4 and tell people you had a thousand volunteers take part. I've been there... the reports afterwards are like the "great crop success" reports that used to come out of Pravda in the Soviet Union, while the people were living on bread and water.
No charge on that last one -- Jim Hahn!
For real 9:04 a.m. -- to look at ADV's list of "community leader" endorsments you would think he was the CM of Bernard Parks' district, not CD14.
Does this mean there ARE no community leaders on the Eastside? Could have fooled me...
Villaraigosa's piling on with a Barbara Boxer endorsment today... or I should say she's piling on his bandwagon.
It's a shame this guy doesn't have one-tenth as many real ideas as he does back-scratching endorsements. He might even be worth voting for -- but what was his last idea not stolen from someone else?
Run the school system (scratch that, too).
Most of the valley leaders have not forgiven Hahn for what he did to us during the secession and the only ones who endorsed him are the same old racist farts we have been trying to get rid of for years.

And why is there a three page posting on Miami Vice? No one really give a rat's ass about Miami.

The Miami cash-in is a prime example of ADV's arrogance and feeling of invulnerability. He has the Nixon yes-man following that won't allow him to see the truth and makes him feel impervious to even his own mistakes being discovered.
This is why 2001 shocked him so much, and why he still cries "foul" -- why doing the same thing in reverse to his opponents.
This is why 2005 will disable him politically, for good.
He's done in L.A. politics and will have to retreat to Sacramento where rhetoric is king.
More likely Jimmy will be moving back to San Pedro, to spend the other three hours a day he wastes now in LA with his kids.
Then he can be there 24/7 instead of 21/5 and 24/2.
The number of people who've counted Hahn out incorrectly in past citywide races could field a basketball team (a bad one, but the number of players would be right).

ADV is the most bitter of the Hahn-whipped alums, or else he would be keeping his promises and working on CD14 problems right now.

Every once in a while i get a random phone call from someone telling me my name has appeared on this site. Thanks for the mention, but usually the stuff folks blame/link me too are wrong. I now know how all those celebrities feel like when they read about themselves on grocery tabloids.
It's a weird feeling, this is about the 4th time i think i've blogged on here to give a very simple message. I am not MEAT. When i originally wrote this, it was during the primary campaign. I had then and still do have friends in every camp. I plan on keeping these friends, i have no interest in saying anything negative about anyone.
P.S. As for the poker -- it's a fun hobby.
