The End of Boring Politicians?

Dan Walters of the Sacramento Bee has a good piece today about the "end of the boring politician era." When GREY politicians become a thing of the past, how well does that bode for folks like Jim Hahn?

To be sure and fair, there are some other LA politicans who are charismatically challenged such as Alex Padilla to name one. Yea, a Nate Holden doesn't come along often, but there are a few out there right now such as Eric Garcetti, Jack Weiss or Dennis Zine who can make us laugh once in a while.

Who else fits the GREY mode in LA?

Janice Hahn has more balls then all those guys except Garcetti. Everyone loves him. Lameboy Padilla is a wimp, Zine lost his integrity and honor when he left LAPD, and Weiss is a complete moron and made an ass out of himself with the press conf he held slamming Hahn on OT for Van Nuys city hall before remembering that city council approved the OT back in Nov. and his buddy ADV voted YES>

Rick Orlov.....Councilwoman Janice Hahn, a more-than-outspoken advocate of her brother, was proudly releasing a survey of University of Southern California students who ranked the 11 speakers who visited a political science class being taught by Democratic political consultant Joe Cerrell.

The councilwoman was ranked fourth on the list - far ahead of Villaraigosa and his ninth-place ranking. Another former mayoral contender, Bernard Parks, was ranked 10th.

The USC students said the councilwoman was well-informed on local issues, that Villaraigosa came off just as a politician and that Parks was "not interesting."

Booooring.

What ever happened to the Jesse Unruhs, the Willie Browns, the Art Snyders, the Gil Lindsays, the Richaerd Alatorres, the Ernani Bernardis, and the Nate Holdens?

Scamps all, but lots of laughs.

We need Antonio to provide us with some relief from the boredom of Jim Hahn.

Art Snyder was not boring because if you had spoken many years ago with any of his assistants, it was all about partying on tax dollars.

You have GOT to all be hacks, if "laughs" are the most important thing to you.

Try spending an hour with the real people of this city sometime, and you'll see... what they CRAVE is results -- not empty suits, not conman charisma, not funnny boys and laughing ladies.

You are all SO out-of-touch.

Visit a neighborhood council, or a civic improvement group, or even a church for god's sake. Stop in at a neighborhood watch meeting (not in CD14, though, they're all invisible.)

People are weary from broken promises and lies. They've all but given up on you "funny" hacks.

This is when it gets dangerous -- when they give up.

There is nothing wrong with a boring politician. That is, unless he's a corrupt moron who's administration bungles through everything. That's Jimmy Hahn. Now if you want a boring politician, look at Henry Waxman. You wonder why he's beloved by his constituents? Because he's really effective and hardworking even if he's not a showoff. I like boring politicians.....as long as they're getting results. James Hahn doesn't get results.

I like the responses to this post because, well they're all interesting, whether I agree or not.

And there (so far) is not one ADV cut and paste job here. This is the direction that I want the Sister City to go when the election is over. Lets chat about more than just two guys. Lets bash the City Council and talk about all the fun stuff we used to talk about like who is the hottest 4th floor employee (and unlike the old Fourth Floor blog we can post pictures here).

In regards to Jack Weiss, yes he is an idiot, but he's funny.

I agree some politicians like a Henry Waxman (though I totally disagree with him and would vote him out in a minute) can be boring while serving their contituents.

Executive leaders like Mayors, Governors and Presidents however should be dynamic and outgoing to lead the people.

Or at least funny like I was. We've had nothing but boring mayors since I got beat.

A very colorful Neighborhood Council Member is Jamie Cordaro. Remember, he's the one who forced Tony Cardenas into a run-off with Wendy when they were seeking Wachs old seat.

the near profanity on this site has made it unusable. Plus the sheer hatred of Hahn from guys who backed hertzberg and now want antonio makes it worthless. This is not the "home of Los Angeles politics" it is the home of antonio. And i can get better information on him by hanging out with skelton.

ADV is funny -- it's hilarious that he still takes himself seriously after being unable to accomplish a SINGLE thing in two years in CD14 with a large mandate and adoring fans.

That's funny, unless you live there.

I'd rather have a Hahn for Mayor than a Tony Villar, Alatorre or Nate Holden any day...they are all a bunch of crooks!!!
