Where Is Mayor Sam?

Now that a new Pope has been elected, I can come home and get back to work.

Wacko Walter is going to be guest hosting on KABC radio Sunday night. I think their colon powder infomercials are more interesting.

Does anyone think that Rocky settled that FH lawsuit so it wouldn't go to trial and embarrass the mayor? FH and the mayor both dodged a bullet for now.

Go play on the freeway morons!

I'm glad Rocky brought the truth out about Laura Chick. She tried to take credit for discovering FH overbilling AFTER Rocky filed the lawsuit. Why isn't anyone going after her for signing a check for $4 million and then after the fact questioning it? How many other bills has she signed off on and not questioned? Antonio at Jefferson High was a joke. Why hasn't he been in his own community where 15 homicides to date have occurred? I don't see him leading a prayer for his own people.

Obviously, Fleishman would rather spend millions to hush this whole thing up. Corporate America-got to love it.

Settling the civil suit just ends the discovery phase and limits the ability of the criminal investigation to learn extra stuff.

This settlement still has to be approved by the City Council. Cardenas is questioning it.

Keep your eyes on Tony and Alex. If Hahn starts trashing Antonio on the Mexican thing, they will be compelled to defend him, or risk censure by their base.

Interesting dynamic, huh?

Chick didn't question the settlement, even though Rockard dissed her in the process. The rest of the so-called "overages" were just guesses on her part -- and neither she nor Rocky would ever be able to prove them in court. You can't "prove" how long it takes sometime to write a flak release, or how much time they spent on the phone planning an event, or meeting with sub-contractors.

L.A.'s is lucky it was a flak house that knows the value of good PR, what a long nasty trial means to them, and their other govt. business -- not to Hahn. They couldn't care less about his image -- he cancelled their contracts and forced them to lay people off. And, he certainly hasn't been sticking up for them -- he gets as close as an ex-city attorney can to calling them crooks. F-H owed him nothing -- their only concern was for their bottom line.

The spin is dizzying. First it's Hahn's fault that the city "lost" money on PR contracts, then when the city gets 6X what they could prove the lost back, it's his fault (not Rocky's) that it wasn't 20X and they must be "covering something up."

All the "covering" is being done by F-H, and by paying this out to L.A., they also diminish the case against them by Dowie, by being able to say "Hey, this guy cost us $6 million, we HAD to can him."

You amateur "dicks" need to go back to watching court TV for legal thrills...

Let's not forget the fact that Richard Riordan was the one who hired Fleishman Hillard. I'm sure if they look far enough they will find a lot more during Riordan's tenure as mayor.

F-H dodged a bullet, Mayor Sam? Having to pay $6+ million - something 700 percent of what Delgadillo said he could prove they overbilled? You can't be serious.

This wasn't even one of those -"okay, I'll pay up, but I'm not admitting any guilt" corporate deals." They came out of the confessional screaming I'M SORRY!

"Figures lie and liars figure."

We will never know how much Fleishman-Hillard stole from us because the people receiving the services were not watching or approving the billing. No way to corrolate and go back and match up the numbers. A Million dollars a year in Dodger tickets to give away by F-H and their buddy Frank Salas (another Hahn pal who has "left") over at LADWP? That was OUR MONEY. Sweet racket, huh?

Nor will we ever know how much those sweetheart deals at the Airport and Harbor cost us either. Those duty free shops are a gold mine; a true monopoly, and they renewed the contracts last meeting (way early, just to be sure the Hahn Commissioners got it done before they were replaced by the new administration).

Nor will we know about a pile of other contracts let by Hahn Commissions overseen by Troy Edwards. But we do know that it has been reported that Troy threatened people that they'd never get a contract if they didn't pony up to stop the secession, because people went to the authorities.

We also know that it has been reported that Leland Wong told someone that they couldn't get a contract at the airport unless they hired Art Gastelum's daughter-in-law, because they went to the authorities.

We also know that it has been reported that Ted Stein sat in interviews by airport staff and intimidated the staff to select the Hahn donors.

All of these and millions of dollars more in defaulted loans (City money) to Commissioners and Hahn pals James Acevedo and Chris Hammond.

How much does it all add up to?

I sure can't total it up, but I bet there could have been a lot more police officers in CD 14 if we had the money that was stolen and wasted to spend on cops instead of Hahn buddies.

That's where to place the blame folks. When Antonio becomes Mayor, if he soesn't fix it then, when he can deploy the funds, blame him. But not now. The Mayor has the purse strings, when he's awake.

In the case of Hahn, his Commissioners had them, but used them for their own gain.

And you can PROVE that how?

Liars also point fingers and spread innuendo.

I can CLAIM anything I want, including the fact that you sleep with pink elephants.

I can't prove it -- any more than you can.

Words lie even BETTER than figures sometimes.

In response to "Figures lie and liars figure" Get your facts straight buddy, Art Gastelum doesn't have a daughter-in-law so how could Leland Wong have "reportedly told someone to give her a contract" when SHE doesn't exist! And what is this site, a he-said she-said and/or another way to spread more unsubstansiated gossip for losers who have nothing better to do then to pretend they know what's going on in City Hall????
