Hahn's campaign is like Humpty Dumpty- "All the king's horses, all the king's men, and even all of the Republicans, can't save Jim Hahn from electoral oblivian!"
The Republicans helped elect Antonio to city council two years ago -- but only after he lied about being one of them -- a card-carrying, right wingnut, just like Ronald Regan (he was even trying to imitate him at the debate "there you go again Jim Hahn..."
In 2003, ADV's slime campaign hacks paid $thousands$ to have Antonio featured in a mailer that had GEORGE BUSH'S PICTURE on the front and said SUPPORT THE REAGAN REVOLUTION. It was a TRICK to make uninformed rightwingers in Northeast L.A. think that GW HIMSELF was endorsing Villaraigosa over Pacheco. and it worked with hundreds or thousands of them.
When his left wing supporters found out (they weren't supposed to see it, mailed to only GOP voters) -- first they said "OH IT'S A DIRTY TRICK from his opponent," Then they were shown the official records of campaign expenditure reports for "Reagan-boy" Antonio, and it showed that they had paid XX Thousand dollars to an ORANGE COUNTY company -- even the check was made out to SUPPORT THE REAGAN REVOLUTION.
There you go again, ADV, what Reagan Revolution are you supporting now? Going to put millions of homeless on the street, or wage war on tiny 3rd world island nations?
His "progressive" homies asked "how can you do that" align your name with REAGAN of all people -- and Tony and his campaign people said "OH, EVERYONE does it."
Every race he runs in is laced with lies and deception from start to finish. He isn't running for YOU, people, he's running for TONY, only.
SO, please do "JOIN THE REAGAN/VILLARAIGOSA Revolution all over again (and also yell at real Republicans for voting for Hahn for what he HAS done to help the city -- made it safer, one of their main concerns).

Antonio Villaraigosa broke his promise to his constituents that he would stay as council member for the full four year term ending in 2007, by not running for mayor. Villaraigosa claims that it really wasn't a broken promise because those same constituent put pressure on him to run for mayor.
Now it turns out that Villaraigosa has filed an intent to run for Gil Cedillo's senate district 22 seat when that position is up for re-election in 2006, before his council term is over. Are we to suppose that his constituents put pressure on him again for a backup plan just in case he loses the mayor's race?
Lies that say "SUPPORT THE REAGAN REVOLUTION" may be "cost effective" Parke, I've heard you give that BS support before in public almost, word for word but it's INTENTIONAL deception, with GW's picture on the front, ONLY mailed to GOP voters, and ADV's NAME inside as "one of us" (with a tiny asterisk hiding the truth!)

Otherwise, even the most INCOMPETENT councilmember would be able to accomplish more than ADV has since 2003. Nearly-indicted Alattore (ADV's buddy and supporter) got more done in any two years in office than ADV has. Nearly recalled Snyder (ADV's mentor and buddy) got more done for the district in any two year period than ADV has. And coked up druggie Mike Hernandez (ADV's buddy and supporter) got more done for his district in any two years than ADV has in CD14.
And damn, Pacheco got more projects complete WHILE fighting Villaraoigosa to keep his seat in the last six MONTHS of his term than ADV has in 2 years - 4 times as long a period.
No doubt about it -- by taking his paycheck, ADV has OVERBILLED the city by a MUCH higher percentage that Dowie and ALL his scam flacks at F-H did on their billing.
Someone should be indicting ADV for fraudulent overbilling, too. I can't just show my call sheet at work and say "I earned this" if nothing ever gets accomplished.

If you really wanted to win, you'd be out raising money for Hahn, because he really needs it.
He is raising money at a clip of about $30,000 a day; Antonio is pulling in about $100,000 a day.
The difference is that when the rubber meets the road, the last two weeks of the election, Antonio will be flooding the airwaves and mailboxes and Jimmy will not be, spending less than one third, because his expensive staff has to be paid as well, and that comes off the top. Carrick does not work for free, nor does Kam Kuwata.
The political reality is that he will lose by about ten points, no matter how mad you are at Antonio.
You see, you've probably never run for or been elected to a public office; at the end, it takes the money to do it. M-O-N-E-Y You know, dinero, the green stuff.
All the money Hahn spent in the primary is gone; only new money since March 8 can be spent. Hahn is sucking air, despite your rants, so go to the streets and raise the money if you really want him to win. Stop wasting your time blogging where no one reads or cares what you say. Whatever happenned to Alex Padilla anyway? He used to be real Hahn supporting asshole (or so it seemed). I remember in 2001, he was a big Hahn supporter and I thought he was aligned with him, although apparently not anymore. Maybe he, like the rest of the city woke up and realized what a crooked, corrupt, and incompetent guy Hahn is.
Now even though Padilla is (or at least was) and I thought he was on the incorrigible (at least according to this blog) Team Hahn, I still never strongly disliked him. Many people don't remember but in 2001 on September 11th, James Hahn was out of town and Padilla was our mayor for that period.
JUST REMEMBER 2001!! we're making ADV lovers nervous with all this stuff cause they know the media reporters are beginning to read this blog. To give an example of how controlling and how ADV likes to censor people who have their own ideas all of a sudden he's having his staff get signatures and you have to RSVP to a community meeting on April 30th. That's never happened before. WHY? Because ADV doesn't like to be embarrassed especially in front of cameras and he knows there are sooooo many CD14 constituents who don't like him they may show up and give it to him. I say to them SHOW UP AND BRING YOUR SIGNS. Let the media know what he hasn't done in the district. Let them know the truth. They sure as hell won't hear it from him.

Hahn ordinarily owns the bland brand. We wouldn't go so far as to say he sparkled in Sunday evening's debate, but for someone whose administrative style runs the gamut from uninspiring to invisible, he came across as commanding and confident. "
The unsmiling Villaraigosa must have checked his charm at the door, if not deposited it in a blind trust for the duration of the campaign.
What is surprising about this campaign is the lesson Villaraigosa learned from that defeat. We just hope he hasn't over-learned it. He needed to do that, but he is going too far in dampening his optimistic message.
What is disappointing is not Villaraigosa's outspokenness in his own defense but his seeming unwillingness to inspire and energize voters. Villaraigosa on Sunday not only stammered his lines, he repeated them over and over, so determined to stay "on message" that his message is out-blanding Hahn.
Where was the candidate who saw Los Angeles as a grand experiment, a city that spoke multiple languages but sometimes failed to communicate a common vision?
In politics, when you are ahead of your opponent by double digits with only a month to go, it is wise to avoid stepping on your dick.
You don't have to win anything, you just have to avoid a huge gaffe.

I wish a reporter would Ask Antonio why he doesn't support neighborhood councils? MEAT says he doesn't think much of them. Yet, at city council on Friday they actually were so powerful Councilman Cardenas who had a motion to assert jurisdiction over the MOU/DWP retracked it. After public comment from the NC's Cardenas decided to have a discussion with them instead. It took a lot of character for Cardenas to do that in council.

DAMN, that "projection" psychosis is apparently contagious -- Villaraigosa has been running for mayor for 5 years now off and on (actually ON and on), and has ALWAYS been "surprisingly devoid of specific solutions" even when given the reigns to one part of the city and millions in dicretionary funds (mostly unspent) to create solutions.
They should make that his campaign slogan, "Buy the empty suit, the specific solutions will follow."

I called CHARO offices and the representative that answered informed me that she has no idea of the April 30th meeting, also that if there is such a meeting taking place then Villaraigosa people are just using their facility. They have nothing to do with this event, and have no affiliation to it.

As to the money question, keep in mind, Hahn isn't exactly a poor man. His father left him and his sister quite a bit of property. Don't worry, the message will get out even if Hahn and his sister have to pony up their own dollars. As for Tony, what property does he have? Didn't he sign his house on Mt. Wahington over to Corina - with some cash by the way, so that Corina can continue playing the wife part. Parke, don't you think people know about this already that Tony's marriage is a sham. Glenn Spencer, one of the hardest line anti-immigrant ideologues now operating, founded the Voices of Citizens Together (VCT, which is also known, like his web site and radio show, as American Patrol) in 1992.

He posts material on his site from such men as H. Millard, an infamous columnist for the racist Council of Conservative Citizens who once bemoaned the "slimy brown mass of glop" that immigration and interracial relationships were making of the U.S. population.
Spencer sent every member of Congress a copy of his videotape — "Bonds of Our Nation" — that purports to prove the Mexican government and Mexican-Americans are plotting to take over the American Southwest and create the nation of Aztlán. Hand-delivering the videos was Betina McCann, the fiancé of neo-Nazi Steven Barry.
On a weekly radio show that airs in several cities, Spencer has hosted a series of guests like Kevin McDonald, a professor who accuses Jews of devising an immigration policy specifically intended to dilute and weaken the white population of America.

I just read some comments angry at chief parker for what he has requested. I do not agree with almost all of Chief Parkers posts, but this request is pretty valid. I know it clearly sounds like censorship, but some of the topics are so sensitive that only the adults are responsible for their actions, not their kids. I just used the word, but to make a point. Again, I do not agree with majority of CP comments, but this one was a valid request.
Uh OH, looks like ADV's hacks are threatening to not invite Parker to the Conservatives for Villaraigosa celebration after the next debate.

I have not been posting as far back as many of you have, but I felt the request was not a big deal, but Chief Parker, some say this term has always been used. Now I am curious, why are you making such a request all of a sudden and not before?
I'm sure that if people want to go to the Public Safety Forum to get information, criticize safety issues, and contribute to the discussions about what will make the area better for everybody, they should be let in.
If people are going to go there to make a scene and asses out of themselves, they'd be better off hanging out at King Torta down the street and enjoy some tacos.

The reason for the RSVP at the Safety Forum is simple. ADV's people are under fire to product proof of their claim that they have created 80 new neighborhood watches (in a district with only 12-15 distinct neighborhoods).

A riot to me is a scene, but when people gather to voice their opinions loudly because the CM ignores them, I do not see that as a scene, I see that as the community engaging and comming together because they care about their community.

Moron field staffer Dora is calling certain organizations in CD14 to find out if they are going to Public Safety meeting. IF they are she needs their names and questions. When ADV had the 1st meeting 2 yrs ago it was an open meeting, anyone could attend, questions were asked on the spot.
ADV's staffers have handed out tons of flyers that didn't have the rsvp or questions in by April 28th. What will they tell those people who just show up? You didn't rsvp so you can't come in. It's all about censorship and control. ADV wants to look good in front of cameras. He'll have nothing but HIS supporters there who will say what a great job he's done.
