Daily Kos Chimes In

The #1 political blog in the nation Daily Kos has chimed in on the Mayor's race.

Kos is singularly responsible for getting Congressmembers elected and Howard Dean as DNC chair.

His leadership in the blogger community is unparalleled.

I hope he continues to track out little race here in Los Angeles.

Hahn's campaign is like Humpty Dumpty- "All the king's horses, all the king's men, and even all of the Republicans, can't save Jim Hahn from electoral oblivian!"

The Republicans helped elect Antonio to city council two years ago -- but only after he lied about being one of them -- a card-carrying, right wingnut, just like Ronald Regan (he was even trying to imitate him at the debate "there you go again Jim Hahn..."

In 2003, ADV's slime campaign hacks paid $thousands$ to have Antonio featured in a mailer that had GEORGE BUSH'S PICTURE on the front and said SUPPORT THE REAGAN REVOLUTION. It was a TRICK to make uninformed rightwingers in Northeast L.A. think that GW HIMSELF was endorsing Villaraigosa over Pacheco. and it worked with hundreds or thousands of them.

When his left wing supporters found out (they weren't supposed to see it, mailed to only GOP voters) -- first they said "OH IT'S A DIRTY TRICK from his opponent," Then they were shown the official records of campaign expenditure reports for "Reagan-boy" Antonio, and it showed that they had paid XX Thousand dollars to an ORANGE COUNTY company -- even the check was made out to SUPPORT THE REAGAN REVOLUTION.

There you go again, ADV, what Reagan Revolution are you supporting now? Going to put millions of homeless on the street, or wage war on tiny 3rd world island nations?

His "progressive" homies asked "how can you do that" align your name with REAGAN of all people -- and Tony and his campaign people said "OH, EVERYONE does it."

Every race he runs in is laced with lies and deception from start to finish. He isn't running for YOU, people, he's running for TONY, only.

SO, please do "JOIN THE REAGAN/VILLARAIGOSA Revolution all over again (and also yell at real Republicans for voting for Hahn for what he HAS done to help the city -- made it safer, one of their main concerns).

Didn't anyone tell you to never to trust a slate mailer? Just look for the asterisk to see if the candidate's campaign paid to be on that mailer. A lot of people don't look!

Republicans are a significant voting bloc and one that even Democrats have to pander to in order to get elected.

Does Antonio buying onto the "Support the Republican Revolution" make him a Republican, a conservative or a right-wing nut? The answer is no! He's just using a cost-effective campaign tactic to get more votes. I guess you missed that less in Campaign School 201.

Antonio Villaraigosa broke his promise to his constituents that he would stay as council member for the full four year term ending in 2007, by not running for mayor. Villaraigosa claims that it really wasn't a broken promise because those same constituent put pressure on him to run for mayor.

Now it turns out that Villaraigosa has filed an intent to run for Gil Cedillo's senate district 22 seat when that position is up for re-election in 2006, before his council term is over. Are we to suppose that his constituents put pressure on him again for a backup plan just in case he loses the mayor's race?

Play the game all you want, but don't criticize Hahn for saying "I accepted only money it was legal to accept, as if he's dirty"

Hell yeah, how else do you think Tony has stockpiled two years worth of community improvements funds (to give away to supporters' projects if/when he leaves to be mayor). By NOT taking care of community needs -- in some categories, since 2003.

One neighhborhood council member was pleading for ADV (not present, neither was his staff) to help them write letters to MTA and private companies to put ONE stinking bus shelter at mudpit the Hillside Village people have to stand in to catch the bus. MEANWHILE he's got last years AND this years transit shelter funds collecting dust in the city vaults, virtually untouched.

What the HELL did you think "transit shelters" were ADV? Places to store you political baggage while you run away to the next job.

His pobrecito community members are standing in mud and getting back in the sun on Huntington Drive in El Sereno and he's hiding $120,000 in funds intended for JUST that kind of project.

YES, God YES, he is, it's called his DISTRICT paycheck. When you accept a full time job, and then immediately begin spending some and eventually MOST of your time and energy on leaving it for another one, you are STEALING your salary, and using it to pay yourself to be a mayoral candidate!

Otherwise, even the most INCOMPETENT councilmember would be able to accomplish more than ADV has since 2003. Nearly-indicted Alattore (ADV's buddy and supporter) got more done in any two years in office than ADV has. Nearly recalled Snyder (ADV's mentor and buddy) got more done for the district in any two year period than ADV has. And coked up druggie Mike Hernandez (ADV's buddy and supporter) got more done for his district in any two years than ADV has in CD14.

And damn, Pacheco got more projects complete WHILE fighting Villaraoigosa to keep his seat in the last six MONTHS of his term than ADV has in 2 years - 4 times as long a period.

No doubt about it -- by taking his paycheck, ADV has OVERBILLED the city by a MUCH higher percentage that Dowie and ALL his scam flacks at F-H did on their billing.

Someone should be indicting ADV for fraudulent overbilling, too. I can't just show my call sheet at work and say "I earned this" if nothing ever gets accomplished.

Only a conman like ADV would not only steal his paycheck for 2 years, but then try to move to a higher, better paying job in the city besides.

Jeez, guys, give it a rest.

The Anti-Antonio ranting has reached epic proportions. Who wants to read this garbage?

Does it give you pleasure to release all your hostilities here?

If so, keep it up, since this is the only place Hahn is finding any success.

If you really wanted to win, you'd be out raising money for Hahn, because he really needs it.

He is raising money at a clip of about $30,000 a day; Antonio is pulling in about $100,000 a day.

The difference is that when the rubber meets the road, the last two weeks of the election, Antonio will be flooding the airwaves and mailboxes and Jimmy will not be, spending less than one third, because his expensive staff has to be paid as well, and that comes off the top. Carrick does not work for free, nor does Kam Kuwata.

The political reality is that he will lose by about ten points, no matter how mad you are at Antonio.

You see, you've probably never run for or been elected to a public office; at the end, it takes the money to do it. M-O-N-E-Y You know, dinero, the green stuff.

All the money Hahn spent in the primary is gone; only new money since March 8 can be spent. Hahn is sucking air, despite your rants, so go to the streets and raise the money if you really want him to win. Stop wasting your time blogging where no one reads or cares what you say. It is too shrill and too personal. Lighten up and deal with the reality of the moment.

I wish you all well, really. No one wants to see an election this hostile. We are all Americans and Angelenos and we all need to come together after this election and do what we can for the City, no matter who is elected.

Don't lose sight of this fact or you will be lost in your own misery. That is what has happened to the Pacheco people and they are still in their misery.

Last point: If Hahn gets anti-Latino (he will, because he is desperate) Padilla and Cardenas cannot stand by and merely observe. They will suffer if they do, so look for them to unite behind Antonio as well.

OK, pobrecitos, blog away!

I remember in 2001, he was a big Hahn supporter and I thought he was aligned with him, although apparently not anymore. Maybe he, like the rest of the city woke up and realized what a crooked, corrupt, and incompetent guy Hahn is.

Now even though Padilla is (or at least was) and I thought he was on the incorrigible (at least according to this blog) Team Hahn, I still never strongly disliked him. Many people don't remember but in 2001 on September 11th, James Hahn was out of town and Padilla was our mayor for that period.

Antonio, Come Home
Hahn ordinarily owns the bland brand. We wouldn't go so far as to say he sparkled in Sunday evening's debate, but for someone whose administrative style runs the gamut from uninspiring to invisible, he came across as commanding and confident. "

The unsmiling Villaraigosa must have checked his charm at the door, if not deposited it in a blind trust for the duration of the campaign.

What is surprising about this campaign is the lesson Villaraigosa learned from that defeat. We just hope he hasn't over-learned it. He needed to do that, but he is going too far in dampening his optimistic message.

What is disappointing is not Villaraigosa's outspokenness in his own defense but his seeming unwillingness to inspire and energize voters. Villaraigosa on Sunday not only stammered his lines, he repeated them over and over, so determined to stay "on message" that his message is out-blanding Hahn.

Where was the candidate who saw Los Angeles as a grand experiment, a city that spoke multiple languages but sometimes failed to communicate a common vision?

Got beat for mayor by a "boring" candidate (despite all the supposed "charisma"), had to settle for being on council, which even the media talked about as being a "de-motion" -- can't cut it there (never has one CM done SO little in two years), and now he's falling apart uttering redundant vague non-promises even his supporters know he can't keep. He's losing points daily against the same "boring" mayor -- this time one he and his Kumbayah buddies have been beating up for six months and who they've accused of everything BUT stealing milk money from Head Start programs (ADV's people are saving that for next week).

Respect? For what... capitalizing on his bogus "abused" childhood, while hiding the abuse he's handed out to others?

I have more respect the the three-card-monty guy down on Broadway. He makes a living, usually avoids getting pinched for doing it, and moves around almost as often as ADV. At least HE doesn't pretend his scam is some "public service" or that he's fleecing you because he "just loves this city!"

Well, Well, Well guess who works at the CHARO office where Antonio is having his public safety meeting on April 30th? Yes the corrupt Alvin Parra. Seems Antonio is trying to get him into Boyle Heights and this is a favor ADV is doing for him having a community meeting at the place he works to get attention, network and promote CHARO. Alvin is the sleaze bag of El Sereno. Remember that letter he wrote that was published in LA Times for his wife? Poor wife got in so much trouble because of it. He works like a crook that's why he an ADV are friends. In fact, ADV promised to help Parra run for CD14 seat along with Jose Huizar and others.

HEY, wait a minute, Attention-Deficit Villaraigosa already promised ME that council seat in CD14, weeks ago.

What's going on here? Is ADV® making promises he CAN'T keep now (in addition to the regular ones he doesn't INTEND to keep).

This is going to get VERY confusing. He's going to need TWO sets of bogus calendars just to keep track of the promise-breaking schedule.

(Parra, isn't he the guy who runs the typo-riddled little throwaway newspaper in El Sereno that announced there was going to be a recall election this month for the NC presidency - that he also wants - only to find out that DONE was going to decertify them instead?) I hear he got shouted down so badly by stakeholders for trying to stage a coup there that his tail is still between his legs.

CHARO'S reputation is going to get hurt maybe temporarily but it will suffer a bit by having this meeting. THe meeting is not the problem, the problem is going to be when people show up and they are turned away because they did not RSVP, then the media present witnessing this havoc, I feel bad for the well intended CHARO CORP. being involved in the AV bribes.

For instance, even if I do not RSVP, shouldn't I be allowed to enter the premises since I am a resident of this area and it is a Public Meeting?

Let's count up the REAL charges and REAL indictments and REAL sentences ALREADY handed out to the "stellar" characters following ADV around these days... anyone with a calculator with several spaces? Let's add up his inner circle of Alattore and Hernandez and Snyder, the Bowery Boys of Eastside politics. Not only will they NOT go away, ADV finds THEM useful and keeps them JUST far enough "off" the books to avoid detection - but ALWAYS on his heels (pun intended).

When will ADV "fire" or ask these fine examples of misused and abused public servanthood to "leave" his campaign camp? After he's used up all their influence and connections?

Why not bust ADV's balls over the near- and recently convicted over his shoulder everyday -- the ones that have seen more subpoenas in the past decade than most marshals, that have NOT left his inner circle -- as opposed to playing word games over HOW Hahn may have ditched someone questionable under this watch.

Since everybody (or somebody) seems intent on posting all this bullshit from americanpatrol and mayorno, let's review who they are. Here's a little blurb from the Southern Law and Poverty Center, a group that tracks hate groups like American Patrol/Voices of Citizens Together:

Voices of Citizens Together/American Patrol
Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Glenn Spencer, one of the hardest line anti-immigrant ideologues now operating, founded the Voices of Citizens Together (VCT, which is also known, like his web site and radio show, as American Patrol) in 1992.

In 1994, VCT lobbied hard for passage of California's controversial Proposition 187, which would have denied educational and other benefits to illegal immigrants and their children. (Although it passed, 187 was later thrown out by the courts.)

Four years later, Spencer claimed 3,500 subscribers to the VCT newsletter. Spencer takes a hard line on immigration, demanding that the armed forces seal America's southern border. He also displays a bigoted and vulgar side quite openly.

On his web site, he attacks Mario Obledo, a leading Latino activist and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, as "Pinche [literally, fucking] Cockroach and 1998 Asshole of the Year." A cartoon character is depicted urinating on Obledo's picture.

Spencer posts dozens of immigration-related articles but replaces the words "illegal immigrant" with "illegal alien," among other editing touches. In a 1996 letter to The Los Angeles Times, Spencer wrote: "The Mexican culture is based on deceit. Chicanos and Mexicanos lie as a means of survival."

He posts material on his site from such men as H. Millard, an infamous columnist for the racist Council of Conservative Citizens who once bemoaned the "slimy brown mass of glop" that immigration and interracial relationships were making of the U.S. population.

Spencer sent every member of Congress a copy of his videotape — "Bonds of Our Nation" — that purports to prove the Mexican government and Mexican-Americans are plotting to take over the American Southwest and create the nation of Aztlán. Hand-delivering the videos was Betina McCann, the fiancé of neo-Nazi Steven Barry.

On a weekly radio show that airs in several cities, Spencer has hosted a series of guests like Kevin McDonald, a professor who accuses Jews of devising an immigration policy specifically intended to dilute and weaken the white population of America.

A riot to me is a scene, but when people gather to voice their opinions loudly because the CM ignores them, I do not see that as a scene, I see that as the community engaging and comming together because they care about their community.

AV needs to know his lack of representation (leadership), projects, etc...He needs to know things that he probably does not want to hear, this is the American Way. We should be able to voice our opinions without questioning us what we plan to ask or say! We do not live in a communist country, last time I checked we are in America. AV is clearly using socialist tactics. If he really cares about the people, he should let them all in and let them all SPEAK!

You can call Hahn a Gotti, you can call Tony ADV (with respect to Sacramento Nighties, who has copyrighted this term) but kids, canidates or anyone elses should not be part of the discussion.

If children were mentioed before and i missed it, my fault for not clamping down then.
