Morning musings and open thread

Quick shout out, where is the nearest "Work Source Center" for a out of work "Field Director"?? But I digress....

What with the continual comments about Jamiel Shaw Jr.??

Last shots from the "Sniper" at City Beat

"Red Spotism" from the "WWG Roderick", Delgadillo to sure Time Warner Cable

Who are the local political winners (Maria Elena Durazo) and losers (Villar) in the Obama/Clinton Race??

Word is out that the "BIG HUG" will not run for office in 2009, or is he??......

Okay, Higby, this should put it to rest even for you: David Z reports tonight
that Hertzberg definitely is NOT running for anything this year or next. Says
he'd love to get back in the game, but obviously realized that he doesn't have a
chance. Sayonara.

and this..

Jesus, are you guys off; Huggy WILL DEFINITELY run for City Attorney, if not the Mayor's office.Bank on it. He personally told ME.He was going to "just" run for city attorney, because Jack Weiss is such an arrogant, recall-ish, idiot. But he never expected that Antonio would be such a screw-up that he's now considering that office. Can you please show pictures and ask why Antonio always has that idiotic, OPEN MOUTHED grin? He even LOOKS like an idiot in addition to being one.

Outtakes from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE"

Good, wet Valentine's Day to all!!

No word whether Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa got wet during his "carbon intensive photo junket" to the Owens Valley.

Flying by helicopter, Villaraigosa, dining buddy David Nahai and assorted staffers touch down for a quickie on the Lower Owens River to keep the eco lobby in denial about the true "green creed" of the City Terrace native.

On the subject of green, this relating to the waste of in the funding of gang programs. Both Laura Chick and the "Clowncil of Fifteen" are out with their plans to improve the bottom line. Notice the word that is missing, "a-u-d-i-t".

LA Weekly's Marc Cooper takes out after the "FORMER OFFICIAL STATE WINE TASTER" and his "MOO BOY LACKEY".

In spite of vigorous protests from the French national Chamber of Commerce,
distraught at losing one of its most loyal and profligate consumers, it's
strictly adieu Fabian, as the speaker lost his bid for a six-year term extension
when the voters wisely kiboshed Proposition 93. No more $2,562 shopping sprees
at Louis Vuitton's Paris outlet, no more $5,149 wine purchases from Bordeaux
(and no more $2,701 gift belt buckles for Arnold) funneled out of Mr. Speaker's
campaign funds. VoilĂ ! No more Mr. Speaker.

The "Sniper" rides along with the "POLITICO FORMERLY KNOWN AS MAYOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA, tony villar". He has a few choice words for "TRAILER PARK ZELL" aka "CEO of BIG TRAILER PARK and TRIBUNE".

The "four year community college" on Jefferson and Fig. You know the one where the band plays two songs, has a "glue white horse" and "paid for" athletes??, will not be moving anywhere, anytime soon.

.....and in the spirit of love, the City of Santa Clarita will be cracking down on illegal flower merchants today. Only if this could happen in CD 14.

Is The Mayor Serious on Public Transit?

Allen Mittelstaedt writing at CityBeat de-constructs Mayor V's press conference (the one where he accused the LA Times' Steve Hymon of raining on his parade) about extending the Purple Line Subway to Santa Monica.

Mittelstaedt takes Villaraigosa to task for not staging the photo op at least at the terminus of the Purple Line at Wilshire and Western, for not working simultaneously with Zev Yarovslasky to end his subway funding ban (while getting Henry Waxman to remove his construction ban) and for not collaborating with the leaders of other cities on the line's route, such as former Santa Monica Mayor Denny Zane (no relation to Dennis Zine).

What was Allen thinking? That the Mayor actually had a plan and wasn't looking to get his picture taken?
