Money Race is on for Northeast LA/ East Los Angeles Assembly District
Blogger Notes: As Californians await the final act of the supposed Citizen Redistricting Commission on August 15, three connected, aspiring politicos are raising money in their quest to replace Assemblyman Gil Cedillo in Sacramento. If no further changes are made to the boundaries, this district will include Echo Park and parts of Silver Lake (not including Assemblyman Mike Gatto mom's home) in the west, to Eagle Rock on the north, stretching south to unincorporated East Los Angeles. Below, we briefly highlight the three top-tier candidates based upon the most recent financial data.-- Scott Johnson
Latino Gay Activist Luis Lopez has $103,443 on hand and figures to harness the financial resources of the Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Community. In addition, former Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg is supporting Lopez's campaign.
Union Political Director Jimmy Gomez is the early money leader with $185,906 in cash on hand. Gomez's campaign is being steered by Mike Shimpock of SG & A Campaigns (ie. Parke Skelton), who wasted no time in touting Gomez's early monetary advantage and endorsements. Interesting to note the "returned contribution" from a "Michael Trujillo".
Current Assemblyman Gil Cedillo's District Office Director Arturo Chavez has $70,009 on hand but since his initial announcement, Chavez has fallen behind in the money race to both Lopez and Gomez.
Your thoughts..............
