Prop 8 and Obama and Jasmyne, oh my: Part one

This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

And now, for something completely different: take my new poll on whether L.A.'s voters should recall Villaraigosa. It's at http://TheWalterMoorePoll.com

The ugliness of Prop 8 will ultimately disappear and California will return to equal rights for all. Sadly, it will take a struggle.
Stay strong.

Petra, I disagree with you strongly.
I voted Yes on 8 and I'd do it again.
I have no problem with gays having some kind of "civil union" or partner certificate in order to protect their legal rights....and I really think that when it boils down to it... this crusade is really all about legal rights.
The State has no right to interfere in the practice of religion. And when the State declares that something like "gay marriage" exists...it is an infringement on religion.
EVERY major legitimate religion has taken a stance against gay marriage because it violates the basic tenets of their faith.

OK Phil.
Time will prove one way or the other.
Still no on H8.
Have a nice day.

PHIL, How can a grown person be so uninformed about so many things.
Marriage is a CIVIL union. You have to go to a courthouse to get a license.
The church part is ceremonial only. One has nothing to do with the other.

Except for Walter's off topic post promoting his blog here and the response it generated, these are all good posts here.
Do you notice no one (or is it noone?) that writes for Mayor Sam posts off topic promotions of Mayor Sam on Walter's blog?

Why does Ms. Spinaza always use this same image every time she writes something? Is that her on it?

And now for something completely different? How rude! Who do you think you are Mao Tes-tung? If it was something relating to this post, that's one thing. But to pipe in on the first comment, "And now, for something completely different" is especially rude since you have your own blog and website. No offense. But would love to read your take on this topic.

Phil,
Religions have no right to infringe on the rest of us by imposing their beliefs on the public. Religion is a choice, being Gay is not. Religion is a lifestyle, being Gay is most likely genetic/biological.
Gay people have been on this planet long before any religion came into existence. Religions infringed on their rights and continue to do so today. You are, as usual, incorrect.

Walter is very off-putting. Maybe that's what it takes to be a leader. But not a good one. He's kind of the "Jack Weiss" guy on the grass roots side.

Wacko Walters still stalking the mayors job and hoping to overturn the will of the voters. Even on a post about gay marriage. Walter ran for 8 years and couldn't win a runoff with 8 candidates helping him. And he turned against those candidates wanted to help get ZD arrested. Mr. 77,000 votes.
