Keith Brackpool's Cadiz proposal back in the Spotlight

Time for Mayor Villar's former boss, party friend, vacation host and confidant Keith Brackpool to move on ??
That is moving on with his water storage scheme in the Mojave Desert as the Los Angeles Business Journal reports.
Cadiz Inc. was the biggest price gainer Friday on the Nasdaq after announcing it signed letters of intent with five Southern California water providers to partner on a $200 million underground water storage project.
The proposal resurrects a water-banking project that the Metropolitan Water District killed in 2002 after opposition from environmentalists and questions that arose about the finances of the Los Angeles natural resources company.
The project would involve pumping Colorado River water into an aquifer beneath 35,000 acres Cadiz owns near the U.S. Marine Corps base at Twentynine Palms. The water would then be stored and piped to Los Angeles and other Southern California counties.
The prior effort died when environmentalists argued that pumping the aquifer would harm the desert’s delicate ecology. Other critics questioned Cadiz’s ability to carry out the project, given the company’s high debt load.
Brackpool who employed Villar as a consultant after his 2001 loss in the Mayoral Race, has the support of Governor "Kennedy Republican" another politician with waning political capital.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is among several politicians and labor leaders backing the new proposal, which he claimed is environmentally sensitive.
“This innovative project, utilizing sophisticated water conservation practices, will sustainably recover more than one million acre feet of water that would otherwise be lost to evaporation and make it available to help provide a reliable source of water for Southern California,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. (payed for with stock options ??).
The resurgence of the Cadiz is sure to spark a slap back from within the environmental community, but who will lead the battle. or could this spark a civil war among environmental groups ??
As seen with the recent Los Angeles Magazine Article on Tejon Ranch, the likes of the Sierra Club, who's Desert Chapter led the fight against Cadiz the last time, is more apt to compromise than fight these days for conservation issues (one must remember that DWP Director of Human Resources Susana Reyes is the Sierra Club's Los Angeles County Political Director).
Your thoughts......

This shows you just how lazy Mayor Villar really is. The entire city and county of Los Angeles sits on water tables i.e. aquifers. However, the water is so polluted that it would be too costly to clean it up and it would take too much of an effort to educate and create community outreach to prevent aquifer pollution. In some areas in Los Angeles, water is 10 feet below the ground. Many areas 50 feet. Oil companies, run-off from traffic, household, industry and animal waste pollution cannot be cited and regulated, because it is once again, not a priority to make sure the Regional Water Quality Control Board is fully funded by the State to investigate, cite and mitigate issues concerning water well and aquifer pollution.

The Regional Water Quality Control Board should be working with the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, the DWP and the Department of Recreation and Parks to help figure out a solution to our water contamination issues. Like building a plant to clean up storm water, like Orange County did.

But noooo! Mr. Mayor wants to make his buddies rich. That is much more important. If you can't be respected as a friend and leader, buy your friends! Forget the city and department that can solve our issues. It's not important that they get funded to do their jobs!

I expect more of the same from Mr. Mayor lame duck. Just you watch. Now that they have bankrupted the people, they need to start sealing from each other, because the people can no longer afford to support their greed.

I say test all the nested wells and lets see a report on what state of pollution our aquifers are in rather than importing water and paying off some fat cat.

First of all, it's all true and I am concerned about my physical body, as you can imagine. But, how ironic that on my worst week ever, my blog cranks out #2 on BNN. The ying-yang is killin' me. And look how the crybabies will go to my blog then recap what they are complaining about here. (Not like their spinning or taking hits at me, LOL!)

Anyway, it is possible to be barely able to move and stressed out but be able to sit in one place for 16 hours in front of a computer.

It's not like I said I was dying and built the Taj Majahl.

Anyway, I know...it's amazing. AND, of course part of why I am still typing...ALL of why, actually, is because each day there are a couple folks who help me keep my feet on the ground and keep blogging for the stars.

And I'm glad ZD gets to keep his under dogg status, cause I'm only #2, so I'll try harder.

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he's "happy" illegal immigrants get state services and says they're not to blame for California's $24.3 billion budget gap.
Schwarzenegger, an immigrant himself, says the estimated $4 billion to $5 billion the state spends on illegal immigrants annually is a "small percentage" of the deficit.

Red Spot you need a new thread. Neighborhood Councils should storm the PLUM Committee meeting on Tuesday at 2p to speak out on the Marijuana shops popping up all over the city thanks to Huizar and Weiss. AND What the hell are city council members doing by wasting time dealing with "school uniforms" for LAUSD again from the idiot Huizar? This is just crazy bullshit from our council idiots.

Why doesn't SLEAZY HUIZY list the

ALLOCATE $1,120.61 in the Council District 14 portion of the Street Furniture Revenue Fund No. 43D/50, to AAA Flag & Banner Mfg., for the installation of banners FOR A COMMUNITY EVENT.

I think I am going to enjoy the new and cleanly comment section on this blog allowing the reader to more easily focus on good info from the community, like 9:03am. That's the true benefit of this comment section.

Anyway, since some of the lies posted earlier on this thread were deleted by the blog administrator, I deleted my responses to those purposefully deceitful comments.

Thanks. And sorry that a few people have lost their only platform. You abuse, You lose!

8:44 a.m., where did your retard brain get the idea that PLUM and Huizar and Weiss were somehow causing the sprouting of MJ clinics? Is this another brainless Zine propaganda effort, like that bald headed retard spread on wingnut radio about other illegals, billboards and everything else just to campaign for that phony Trutanich with the help of Limbaugh clone Kevin james? To those idiots facts mean less than nothing, it's propaganda to the uneducated masses who don't question. WHAT the hell are you talking about you idiot? THINK for once. PLUM is Land Use, Moron -- Zine's more behind claiming "credit" for "controlling" the MJ clinics than anyone. AND Bill Rosendahl.

This Cadiz water storage deal was why Tony wanted his buddy Richard "sleazebag" Katz to head the MWD, but got thumped by other directors on the board who wouldn't go along. Got to respect Brackpool, though. Never give up.

When the wars over water begin, WHO will we be fighting with, I mean for?

It's sad to see the many Americans willing to just hand over one of our two most precious resources left to a foreign company.

I guess that leaves us with only Air.

Perhaps I am missing the part of the whole deal "a promise of eternal life" in exchange for control over are water system in California.

Congratulations Mr. Brackpool.
I will be thinking about you this July 4th.
