Friday Hotsheet for a silly week
Capping off a week the Daily News is calling Silly Season, Councilmembers Jan Perry and Wendy Greuel were spotted hailing cabs with giant foam fingers and Police Chief William Bratton is taking flak from some West Hollywood pol for “outing” Lindsay Lohan.
But it looks more like Gloomy Season back at the Daily News. Denim is out, as is Chris Weinkopf, reports L.A. Observed. Employees unsure of what to wear are advised to “recall how you dressed when you interviewed for your position.” Columnist and Friendly Fire blogger, Weinkopf, will call it quits August 22nd. Perhaps we’ll see more meat on his personal blog in the coming months? Here’s to two ex-DN employees telling us how they really feel.

- José Huizar’s attempt to run roughshod over Boyle Heights residents became a P.R. problem.
- Ed Reyes, Eric Garcetti, and José Huizar offered up a room at City Hall for car wash owners and workers to negotiate a living wage.
- Mirthala Salinas resurfaced in Studio City.
- William Bratton delivered a very politically-incorrect celebrity gossip report.
- And more proof was offered that you must read Mayor Sam every day if you want to be in the know.

The word around some local TV newsrooms was there could be a delayed reaction to Bratton's remark. Apparently some gay celebs such as Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O'Donnell may speak out. Some local gay elected leaders are deciding if they're going to sit on their hands or not. They don't want to go after Bratton but with gay marriage on the ballot they don't want the notion that people "go gay" out there.
Silly week?
What week isn't "silly" at this blog.
Is Zine's PDID file is being leaked?
Because he might run for Mayor?
So if Bratton had said "Lohan has come to grips with her true sexual identity" - then everyone would have been okay with that, right?
The days are LONG gone when this town would ever give serious consideration to electing someone who is/was in law enforcement as mayor.
Tongue-tied bumbling Major Johnson would stand a better chance, and he has none. L.A. "intelligensia" that fund every city election here would forgive a pol anything from their past, expect being a cop or any other form of "law and order" person.
The Mayor of West Hollywood made a good point. He said gay celebs like Rosie, Elton John and others get hounded by the paps as much as the breeders do. So how does Bratton think Lindsay going gay helps? The big deal is that she and her girlfriend go to the store and buy dog food and the cameras follow everywhere. Does he read the gossip blogs? nothing has changed!
Bong Water Kim of D.U.M.B. for the "Ass Clown" of the month award.
Last week he also back-peddled over ent City Clerk-run neighborhood council elections and their multitude of errors, basically saying it "whew, it wasn't our department's fault" -- but it WAS.
This. after being one of the main supporters of allowing the Clerk to do them, and to start in this year, instead of giving the Clerk's office time to understand what they were all about.
And WHY was everyone in such a hurry to move them to the City Clerk?
Because DONE was ALREADY making a mess of them, year after year, with more screwy regulations and ponderous paperwork, plus constantly declining participation.
I know that Bill "I'm gay, I'm gay, I'm gay" Rosendahl is too much of a pussy to ever speak out.
The guy has the backbone of Smuckers Jelly.
And you forgot that the Dodgers got Manny Ramirez for absolutely nothing!
Now DAT's silly!!!
Bratton can say what he said for the same reason blacks can use the N-word.

Speaking of silly, I would like to point something out that strikes me as rather silly and that is, if you will, there are sots here in Hong Kong who are running around desperately trying to arrange "business meetings" for people who are either here to do campaign fundraising (whispers) for that is what it really is (speaks normally) or arrange some sort of foreign trade mission to occur at the back end of a trip to Bejing. (Waves at lobbyist) Halloo sot! Just fly in? (Sot glares at Captain Jack and extends middle finger).
(Winks) So the sots have come, and I expect that Tuesday and Wednesday we shall see certain folks go either missing or "on vacation." The question is, who will pay for their Olympic excusion, savvy?
If Rosie O'Donnell lashes out at him, it can only benefit Bratton.
Ellen might invite him to her show, where they'll joke about it and Zine will come out the fool he is.
NO NO NO...People are saying its about time someone in this city acting like a leader and had some balls to speak his mind. Read the Daily News and some dumb ass council person speaks against Antonio and can't even say their name. What bullshit!!! I'm tired of all this political correctness crap. I agree Rosie would help Bratton 150% because even the gay can't stand her. If Bratton's sister wasn't gay and he didn't speak out and support her it would be different. Little do you know he has been praised by the Gay and Lesbian folks for openly supporting gays.
Bratton's lezbo sister and planting trees for the gays in Israel doesn't give him a pass.
Even Jesse Jackson got in trouble for calling Obama a nigger.
Give it a rest, no one gives Lindsay's complaints about what's "inappropriate" any weight -- as if she would know. She's never been "appropriate" herself, but a PR hound.
Every entertainment talk show has shown her kissing that dyke-chick, and tonight TMZ did again too, despite running a phony poll to see if she should sue Bratton. They did it with teasing Tara Reid over and over for saying she doesn't do chicks -- and going on about the bi girl thing. For a bimbo like her to take on a police chief like Bratton would be career suicide -- she can shoot her mouth off, but studios and producers would drop her like a hot potato. Bimbos belong in Bimbo-land -- with John Mayer. And that photo of him looking in seventh heaven with Jessica Simpson groping his crotch, desperate for his attention, while he's kissing another girl... Classy guy. Jennifer Aniston can do better.
