Jack Weiss: Quorum Breaker!

Who'd have guessed that (sometimes) City Council Member Jack Weiss was Missing In Action during Item #1 at yesterday's Council Meeting after he, Tom LaBonge, and Herb Wesson disappeared after the earthquake break.

Quorom Breaker!!!
The discussion was the critical, massive increase of the trash fee hike. Apparently it was not important enough for "Candidate" Jack Weiss to be in attendance. (He's infamous for coming into Council chambers for role call and disappearing). And this guy wants to be City Attorney! Pshaw!
Let's not fool one another. Weiss is an arrogant absentee who was told to skedaddle by tens of thousands of his own constituents during this current term. He doesn't want to be a City Councilman any more, if he ever did at all; let's not jeopardize the city by rewarding him with the job of City Attorney.
So there's no better time than to revisit our Jack Weiss MIA haiku:
Where's CM Jack Weiss?
Craves City Attorney Gig.
But rarely shows up
Was nearly recalled.
Weiss has disdain for us all.
He should go away.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

You people take your readers' kneejerk reactions so for granted, it's funny. Several people leave after the earthquake for meetings or to check on reports of problems, and weiss is singled out again, when many others are late or absent just as often or more often, for business. You have Smith for sleep apnea, because he fell asleep once or twice -- if it were me having to listen to those nattering gnats who have gotten nastier and nastier at public comment, I'd need valium.

You have Z-man for making indignant noise about another tax, than voting with the majority anyway -- though he held out on the trash fee hike. Is he planning his own run for Mayor, and taking a chance by opposing everything Antonio and his council colleagues support? Sort of a Zev alternate, since Zev isn't giving up his cushy Supervisor seat? And from a more conservative slant?

Jan Perry was so angry that her preventing new fast food joints from opening in the hood was being "misunderstood." Sure.

Alarcon/Reyes/Cardenas/Huizar on their gas-heavy "green" SUV's tricked out with leather and fancy stereo systems, to pick up trash and haul cleaning supplies, or to double as earthquake lodging for Alarcon. (Did he check to see the car had extra blankets during the tremblor?) All of them, along with Gloria Molina and Gloria Romero, crying about the "overtaxed and underrepresented" poor of the barrios, compared to the westside.
All of them, pushing to move barrios for illegals to the hills and dales and westsides, lockstock and barrel, for "social justice."

(Today, they're all decrying, in a staged photo op with Maria Elena Durazo, the wages of carwash workers who, Alarcon is insisting, must be paid "a living wage" or else punish the employers. He says that goes for the working parent hiring a child caretaker, too -- his drumbeat for "creating a middle class" is to pay illegal workers, who can't speak English or get any other jobs, while taxing the middle class and struggling seniors and the unemployed to death. And Zine: pandering to the illegals, too, and to Durazo, with "si se puede." YEs, he's definitely running.)

And then end-the-war-in-Iraq, and raise the parking meter fees, Bill Rosendahl. Tom LaBonge the football trivia fan, Janice Hahn the egotistical spawn of daddy Hahn. (She speakds of "the Hanns" as an "important and interesting family in L A" as though she's other than a babbling idiot herself.)

OKAY, NOT WHAT?

NEVER a WORD ABOUT ANYTHING REMOTELY important, like how Steve Cooley's prevented his Ass't DA's form going after his friends and contributors who are robbing the County of tens of millions in recycling fees owed to the city. About Cooley whose dept. is in charge of felonies, and let out Pedro Espinoza, and the guy who killed his wife who'd had him in jail with a restraining order, because she knew he'd kill her as he'd tried before.

When Joe Mailander was here, he actually fostered balanced discussion about the issues insofar as possible, but now the blog is reduced to a phony hiding behind "Haiku-LA" shooting cheap shots.

Your comment was posted before the damn Council meeting ended! What the "eff" do you expect me/us to do?

You make some great comments. If you get your expectations in check, more people would take you seriously. But your comment about Joe comes across like an agenda when we probably agree on 95% of things.

1240, please look up the definition of "quorum."

I can't do it because I'll get hammered for a stupid ass reason.

In short, it means that the council couldn't function yesterday after the quake because Weiss (and LaBong & Wesson) didn't get their asses back into council causing a delay.

I give LaBong & Wesson a break on this because they're not habitually missing in action. Like Weiss.

I guess that I've explained it now.

1227, there WERE tens of thousands of signatures (was it something like 27,000?) on the petition to get Weiss booted on the ballot.

And if I'm wrong on that number, it was more than 10,000, right dipshit?

One signature more than 10,000 is tens of thousands.

Regardless, Weiss is the ONLY current CM to have a "major" recall effort launched against him. Right, dipshit? He's the only one.

Right Denise?

1:15/17/21 whatever, "anons" all seem to be Haikula explaining herself as to why she can't do better? Every one of those "excuses" is false or lame. As for the recall numbers, the excuse the group used that they didn't want to make the city pay to tally them up is such a lame-ass excuse: the handful of old people behind it devoted all their time to running around to every HOA and NC trying to drum up support, and only got the similarl out-of-it malcontents, except for the ones who didn't like that their shakedown of the Century City developer was busted. The same old reactionaries are behind suing the city over Pico-Olympic -- sure, they really care about forcing costs on the city. Not.

It's ALL about getting their parochial way to them. They're also the core behind the fight against Expo II Line "to the sea," and have cost it maybe years and billions of $ in delay. (They still think that the line will only bing poor, brown and black people to their area, not move along those stuck in traffic). Not to mention they were around back in the 80's to get Zev and Waxman to stop the subway, back when the feds were trying to throw $ at us.

This is the core of a "poison pill" for the city that has nothing to do with Weiss, in the end -- those old reactionary whiners admitted it was ALL about sending "a message" to the whole city about development, traffic and a ton of issues -- does anything honestly believe for a nanosecond that those selfish old bluehairs would have stopped for a second to consider what they were costing the city with a petty recall? They realized that a) they would have been laughed at for lying about how many signatures they had (they claimed "they didn't really try that hard" at the end, b because they were afraid of Weiss's supporters, alternately with "we really tried hard but couldn't come close enough:); and b) their real motives and who they were and why, and their slim ranks at the core (like the Oz behind the curtain) would have been revealed. This group has so marginalized themselves that it's bad for ALL of us in CD5 or even other districts, as the whole city and every city dept. or agency they've dealt with has realized who these people are, and why. This group's objectives has, in many cases, been downright harmful to the general good.

By your admisssion, Haikula, you're a Joanne Come Lately to the blog and don't know squat, so you can continue to post your ignorant kneejerk stuff -- anyone who's been awake for more than 3 months has heard all the cliches, and you're just plain wrong on most of even your cliches.

You wanna stick to snarky haikus, fine, but who cares.

So 2:46 claims to be Dutch, under 40 (?) and admits to being a newcomer and clueless about local politics.

I guess when Richard Alarcon/Reyes and Janice Hahn/Rosendahl manage to unionize Haiku writers and get them a living wage to pull them up into the middle class, by taxing the actual middle class into oblivion or exodus, we'll get better Haiku bloggers.

Until then, I think HaikuLA and Jack Hoff are in a union of two.

I just wrote that a friend and I started our measly little blog to offer comment becaue of what we've been reading and hearing. so our "exprtise" is limited slowly to what we're picking up on. we're glad it was mistaken as anythng resembling expertise. we're just commoners who enjoy reading this blog. sometimes.

moving on, yes, valley doll recognized that it was Van Gogh, who was dutch. and since it was saturday and the blog was slow, I merely posted a translation of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," which by sheer Dutch coincidence is 17 syllables.

sometimes doing this is akin to no good deed goes unpunished. luv all of ya! let's move on to see what the others are writing.

Please send us an email explaining at bluestereo@gmail.com. It should be noted that we don't really care. Our primary purpose is to have some fun with our haikus. Mr. Higby asked us to contribute here when something comes to mind.

So, if someone likes our haikus or commentaries, that's great, as is dissent. If someone is riled up, we don't give a petoot.

Seriously, what is it about this person that makes you think there's any sort of connection to us? We don't really care, so brevity is appreciated.

For the most part, we planned to just do a few haikus a week, but got such a weird response! The Jack Weiss thing was just off the cuff from things we read on this blog. There are plenty of others who we think deserve the wrath of the haiku!

Oh...you know what? Look at some of the other haikus we did. McDonald's coffee? An ancient Tommy LaSorda rant? How is that connected to anyone? That's just plain pop culture.

The haikus are silly and I don't even like them yet I've written 20 since you started here. It's mindless. I agree you have to ignore the haters. There are plenty.

This commie lib even wants all illegal immigrants granted amnesty today unless they commit a felon. Okay, I'd agree to toss them for misdemeanors if they were hurtful to another person.
