THE GREAT CD 14 FILIBUSTER!!

Hard this morning to overcome the slumber induce by the 80 MINUTE FILIBUSTER from the lips of the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR".

In what was billed as a "TOWN HALL MEETING", the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR" went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on, about what a great future Boyle Heights residents could look forward to if only they were still around after the likes of the Fifteen Group, USC, MTA, and CRA complete their grand plans.

Those hoping to still have a place to live were residents from Wyvernwood and tenants of E.L.A.C.C. (who walked out out halfway through the filibuster) They showed up in the hundreds to state their concerns.

Hundreds of Wyvernwood residents marched to the meeting site at the Puente Learning Center. They expected to have 12 minutes to state their grievances about the proposed development plans by the owners of the Wyvernwood Complex, the "Fifteen Group". But the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR" was not taking any Q and A from the audience. Rather, he selected to comment on written questions that were turned in by members of the audience.

This led to two testy exchanges with audience members who quickly were descended upon by Huizar's Thought, err General Services Police. Elena Popp and the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR" got into a exchange over the supposed agreement to let Wyvernwood residents speak for 12 minutes about their concerns. This ended with Popp being called a liar by the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR".

Later after meeting, Huizar attempted to speak to the Wyvernwood protesters outside the meeting location where they had been protesting but he was met with comments in spanish that caused a hasty retreat.

A fitting ending to evening for the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN SPEAKING AS JOSE HUIZAR", so out of touch with the constituents.

FILIBUSTER, yes indeed.
WELCOME TO THE CD14 YADA FESTIVAL
Yada, yada, yada, and more yada, which resulted in NADA, NADA, NADA !!!
Jose loves to talk when he has a "CAPTURED AUDIENCE", yet there were over around 150 people from his district - the Wyvernwood Apartment Complex that came to speak with the councilman regarding their most likely displacement by Fifteen Group Developers from Florida.
They were not allowed in the building, strict orders from Jose Huizar to LAPD.
Most of the marchers were disappointed that they could not come to a public meeting to address the councilman with their concerns.

People got tired of yada, yada, yada and left the meeting, leaving many empty chairs. The councilman continued his yada, yada, yada to a half empty room. There were more city staff members, council staffers, and city agencies in the “YADA Festival than there were constituents, there were plenty of chairs available but no one was allowed to fill those chairs, especially the Wyvernwood pueblanos!

The LAPD was put in a situation that pinned them against the community, they looked like the bad guys, the real bad guy was inside continuing his yada, yada and more yada! Huizar’s field deputies came out often to see if the crowd will dissipate and could see it in their faces that they were very worried about the crowd, they could lose their job if this group got in the meeting.

The irony is that no one from the councilman’s office would address the crowd and let them know that it was Huizar’s decision and ONLY his decision to instruct LAPD to not let his constituents in a public meeting. The meeting continued with more yada, yada, yada. The pueblanos got NADA, NADA, NADA!

How can the public be kept out of a public meeting at presumbaly a public site?

E-mails are flying about the meeting. People were not allowed inside by the way they were dressed. LAPD had no business there and were there in numbers. No one was allowed to give their opinion and the kiss asses were up in front giving dirty looks and making verbal comments at whoever didn't like what Huizar was saying. The entire meeting was what a great job he has done. I've never seen so many people walk out of a public meeting upset. Hollenbeck should be ashamed of themselves for being used like lapdogs.

This seems to be Huizar's method of operation lately. This way he could say, “I held public forums” which he does, but he has the City Police try to hush people up when they speak during public comment. Ask Elana Popp who is the Attorney for the Pueblanos.
Its a PUBLIC TOWN HALL MEETING

NOT a Listen to me I’M A GOOD GUY Huizar gathering!

Jose learned the old trick of taking comment cards from the audience from Latham & Watkins and Steve Sugerman. During the "public input" process for the future of the historic Southwest Museum, the Mayor's office and "Human Relations" Commission banned questions from the floor.

The staff preselected the softball questions and banned the representatives of the Autry Museum and the Friends of the Southwest Museum from responding to each other's answers to the questions.

The result was a stilted, disjointed, and uninformative process masquarading as "public input."

When they say they are only taking questions on cards, it means they are afraid of the questions that might be asked.

How is it that the promising Huizar is afraid of people from the neighborhood where he grew up?

No more community meetings in CD14 except Eagle Rock. Its not about constituents anymore its about pr and making yourself look good taking credit for everyone else's work. Problem is he's not fooling anyone and that's why the reaction to last night is very negative all over the community. To have Unidos and ELACC walk out and countless other residents was embarrassing and sent a clear message of contempt for the councilman.

If you all are going to complain at least get your facts straight: Puente is a private institution and has a right to restrict access to its property, especially when people are going to disrupt the classes that are in session and when the room is at capacity for fire code purposes. Also, didn’t Huizar take the time to talk directly to everyone outside, instead of talking to a well-known liar who’s trying to run for public office? Talk about bad PR.

1:25pm Huizar staffer trying to help with media crisis. When a meeting is publicized as a "community meeting" then anything having to do with Puente Learning Center being private goes out the window. Oh, is that why Huizar held it there? Watch Huizar's people try and blame and attack people istead of accepting the fact that people were really pissed off last night at the circus he provided. It backfired big time and now word is some of those organizations are discussing a great strategy against him.

We know more than two years ago that Huizar was in bed with the Miami group and Wyvernwood was going to be destroyed. I know the people of Wyvernwood were told and given all documentation about Wyvernwood, and agreements between Huizar and the Fifteen Group, to destroy the buildings...and the people believed Huizar. I can only say they got what was coming to them from their "Compadre".

Is Gustavo the crook still working for the Wyvenwood people? Then dont' forget the other crook Victor Griego doing the pr for Wyvenwood. On the other side of the district you have USC David Galviz going after the land where Ramona Gardens is and most likely will be demolished. That's is prime real estate.

The parallels of last night to Huizar's contempt for the many many community leaders trying to prevent the unnecessary loss of the Southwest Museum at the hands of the Autry National Center are striking.

Huizar demanded that the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition gather a representative of all groups in the Coalition at Huizar's Eagle Rock field office.

Over 50 leaders of groups like the six neighborhood councils, the Arroyo Arts Collective, the Eagle Rock Association, the Arroyo Seco Foundation, and on and on were there. Huizar gave each representative two minutes to explain their organization's position. He must have been shocked as one after another, 50 leaders endorsed the work of the Steering Committee of the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition and its plan to reuse and expand the historic site.

Only 4 people spoke contrary. Each of them are Huizar ass kissers who had the gall to MISREPRESENT the adopted position of the organizations they supposedly represented. These were the political types who frequently sell out the public interest for their own political interests: Carol Jacques, Elliot Sekuler, Carol's husband, Bill Rumble, and Carol's longtime friend and co-worker, Grayson Cook.

Looking like a stunned deer in the headlights, Huizar said he "Heard the group and that he would work hard to meet its demands with Autry."

Two months later, Huizar and Villaraigosa participated in a Steve Sugerman produced press conference on the private grounds of the Southwest Museum. Guards were posted to keep community people out of the press conference.

Then Villaraigosa congratulated Huizar in front of television cameras on his "hard negotiations" with the Autry. Then they rolled out essentially the same proposal that Autry CEO John Gray made in September 2006. Carol Jacques was licking Jackie Autry's boots at the press conference.

When asked why the leaders of the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition were not at the press conference, Huizar said: "I guess they choose not to come."

In reality, they were not invited by the Council member and if they had shown up the guards would have kept them away from the television cameras and radio reporters.

So compadres in Boyle Heights, welcome to the club. You too have been kept out of a "public" event by armed guards taking orders from CD 14.

LAPD should be ashamed of themselves doing the dirty work of Huizar. But then again look who's running the show and has the balls of Hollenbeck? Huizar has nothing but weak people being led by the nose cause they have no brains and are like little groupies. Someone who attended and felt their freedom of speech and entry to the public meeting was hampered by LAPD should call the Chief's office. Complain. Complain Complain. The public who pays LAPD salaries were kept out of a public meeting.

Did they kick you out for your smell or for your mis-stating the facts? 1 + 1 = 2. The world according to Jose Aguilar: 1 + 1 = HUH? Duh, I just saw Elvis leave the building with 1.

I was a bystander and saw the Huizar is one of the few CM that can relate to spanish speaking constituents. Aguilar, why don't you leave Boyle Heights with your poor spanish and misperceptions of reality.

People the place was PACKED. The seats were all full and there were probly like 75 more people crammed in the back standing up and I was one of the standers.

If anybody wasn't let in once it was that full, then its because there are fire laws about that kind of stuff and if the protesters wanted in I guess they should have come on time.

Instead they whined and now are saying they were denied rights or some shit.

Whatever you're going to say at least don't lie about what you don't know.

About twenty people in red and orange t-shirts left towards the end and the people standing up could sit down then.

I liked the speech even though it was long but half the stuff I didn't know about before so for me it was good.

And a lot of people who clapped whenn the Huizar told Alena Pop that if she wants respect she needs to stop trying to make scenes at meetings that have nothing to do with her project protest and that was good too.

I get trying to stand up for Wyvernwood but there is a place and time and this wasn't it I think trying to take over a meeting and then lie about what happened will just make the rest of us lose respect for your effort which otherwise I'd probly support.

Look, its simple. If you decide to show up at 7:30pm to a meeting that started at 6pm and can't find a seat you are shit out of luck.

For the Council member to go out and speak to those that didn't get in (for showing up LATE) show that he really does care. The mayor wouldn't have done that.

I guarantee you that thats the last time those folks show up late to a meeting.

Stop crying, if you are so worried about losing your house, get your butt there on time.

DID SHE SELL OUT TO DEVELOPERS?

Unbelievable from 7p to 1am is all Huizar people attacking anyone who makes a negative comment. That's the way they have been told to deal with constituents. You are insulting the intelligence of the community. Just like Antonio everyone knows Huizar packs the house with his people. He has his staff call everyone saying he needs the support. The first couple of rows were his staffers, city people, and people from the agencies he's given money to. Helllooooo Wake up people. Huizar's spinners are in the house. The reason the media didn't pick up on this story is because they didn't see anything important enough to report.

So what happens to the people living at Wyvernwood now? Part of the way I think it will be good to bulldoze the gang-infested mess but there are some families too. But the question is do the people who really live at Wyvernwood have that much of a issue with the plan or did Elena Popp see a business opportunity to exploit?

The only people that are really winning are the lawyers so is that why Elena is on this? How much of what she is saying is really true about the plan too? Some of it is probably ok but if the people there are protected.
