Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday

A FoxNews report on a gang member who claims he has been paid by Councilmember Janice Hahn for "gang intervention programs" is creating a huge buzz around City Hall. The gang member who has been arrested for issues ranging from indecent exposure to possession of marijuana and said that Hahn assisted him in getting out of jail. Now the individual has been convicted to life in prison in a rape case. Some community activists are calling for District Attorney Steve Cooley to investigate Hahn's actions and gang intervention projects funding. The report also details other gang members who have received gang intervention funds and police officers who claim that these gang members bragged about their city funding and laugh at Hahn for the irony of it all.

Those who wish Jamiel Shaw, Sr. would stop crusading in favor of Jamiel's Law and against Special Order 40 protection for gang members are getting more desperate. First off, as we reported here in an exclusive interview on the Sister City, the father of an innocent youth allegedly murdered by an illegal alien gang member said he had been "offered a better paying job" in order to give up the campaign for Jamiel's Law. Now, Shaw has told KFI's John and Ken that District Attorney prosecutors have threatened to paint a very different picture of his son's life who was not a gang member.

Hal Netkin chronicles Council Member Dennis Zine's flip flops on Special Order 40 over the years. I remember several years ago attending a Community Police Advisory Board meeting when Zine was still head of the Police Protective League. At the time Zine called for the elimination of Special Order 40 as one way police officers would be able to fight gang crime.

Gloria Molina is going against taco truck operators in unincorporated portions of Los Angeles County, including East Los Angeles. However Molina has found a gabacho led effort to save the trucks which dispense delicious regional specialties and often server as community gathering spots for Latin immigrants wishing a brief reconnection with the old country.

Britney Spears left her LA home to return to her native Kentwood, Louisiana for her 17 year old sister's baby shower. This is the first time that Spears had visited her hometown since 2006.

Last year 3 gang intervention guys were arrested for felonies. Hector Marroquin was found to be abusing about $1 million the city gave him. There should be an investigation into all city council members who have the gang programs in their districts and check to see if any council members have done the same thing Janice Hahn has done. Guaranteed they will find that Hahn isn't the only one to do this.

City Budget - Why does LA compare its number of PD officers to NY City, when NYC officers issue parking citations. LA moved parking to DOT (700 officers?)in 1985. If you add those duties and officers to LAPD, you'd have the numbers the Mayor is looking for.

Janice Hahn is the perfect foil for the gangbangers! I'm sure she thinks they're all just poor little kids who need a mother figure! How DUMB can you be???

The deadliest gang in town is not the Grape St. Crips or the 18th St....it's the GANG OF 15 PLUS ONE in City Hall! This is the gang that couldn't shoot straight!

There MUST be a way to clean out all the corrupt, incompetent, simpletons who are looting our wallets and destroying this city! The Mexican Mafia is running this city, and the token white Americans...Hahn, Rosendahl, Zine, Weiss, LeBonge...are just STUPID WHITE MEN (and Woman)!

The tragic Jamiel Shaw case could just very well turn out to be the straw that broke the Mafia's back! There is actual 'EVIDENCE' that something very evil is happening inside the inner sanctum of City Hall...and it's looking like a scandal is brewing...unlike anything we have EVER seen!!!

The problem is this: WHO do we turn to??? The City Atty (Delgadildo) is totally corrupt; the US Atty doesn't give a shit about law and order; and the Governor is too busy trying to figure out how he can tax us to death!

We do have a 'secret weapon', however...KEVIN JAMES, former prosecutor. Kevin will keep up the heat until something breaks! Until then, we need more citizens to show up at City Council mts...I know they are B O R I N G but we need a show of force.

I hope that more cops will come forward!!! It's the only way to break the cycle of crime! SO 40 is just a worthless piece of paper, but Villar and Bratton are acting like it's the US Constitution! We need to enforce the EXISTING laws, and screw SP 40!!!

Los Angeles has 150 more square miles to patrol then New York and yet NY has 40,000. Add to that the fact that although LAPD has 9,000 officers about 1,000 patrol the city for 4 million people. Not much. Add to that thousands of illegals are moving to LA because it now has a reputation of being a sanctuary city and has a Latino mayor or protects them. 18th Street gang and MS13 majority are illegals. Yet, you don't see any council member saying a word about that especially Ed Reyes where 18th STreet extorts money from illegal vendors.

So the moral of the story is not to help gang members even if they swear up and down they'll be good. If you help them and they stray, you'll be blamed for aiding them. We should stop helping anyone who's ever committed a crime or done drugs. Chances of them straying is very high. No good deed goes unpunished.

I feel bad for Hahn getting conned by a con. She probably thought she was giving a guy a second chance and that'd he'd finally find his way in life. Nope. This guy really messed it up for everyone. Now no politician will want to help these people. Nothing to gain, everything to lose.

10:15: Stop spinning for our boss, Janice Hahn, who's an evil bitch under the guise of a born-again: they're some of the worst kind, so holier-than-thou and smug, above all others in their minds. She's been only too happy to throw others, including colleagues, under the boss, and is so patronizing about "my cops," "my gang task force," etc.

And that braindead woman won't shut up about "my gang tax" that she wants to put on homeowners, who are already mad as hell and over-taxed in this city, starting with the trash fee tax that soared again and again since last year -- and now, there's a hue and cry about whether it will or even should go for more cops, since the unions just got huge raises in recent months that are the straw that broke the camel's back in the budget crisis. (David Z's article touches on it today, but the Daily News wrote about it many months ago -- it came as a surprise only to the city.)

But that brainless Hahn woman's contribution was to spend millions of the city's money fighting a lawsuit and battles against the LAX-area hotels, forcing them to pay a higher than min. wage on bogus pretexts, that could apply to a number of OTHER areas if applied fairly -- and which are going for another round in the courts.

ALL while Joel Kotkin's article points out yesterday that L A has lost more business than any other city except Detroit, so we're one shithole above the total toilet.
Hooray.

We're also the only city which puts NO ONE in charge of Economic Development, keeping business, espcially manufacturing and mid-size ones -- anyone below the egomaniac level of Broad, who's responsible for the overbuilding downtown, and even forcing LAUSD to build that overpriced monstrosity of a school there (in the Times, Lopez' article, and picked up on another thread here. -- Though this one happened under Hahn and Supe Romer, can't pin this one on MAV. Mayor Hahn was as politically pandering to the illegals and blacks as his sister Janice, and just as dumb. Talk about dumb white people with a guilt complex.)

Speaking of who's white: Zine isn't normally "white" except in L A, where they designate anyone not Hispanic or black or Asian "anglo," putting Middle Easterners and Persians in that stupid, blanket group. While Latinos demand to be "Chicano/Mexican" or Salvadoran, etc., even though they're all the same except for nationality.

Zine himself is the first to claim discrimination over the years as a "blanket or sheet head," etc., lumped in with the Libyans when they were running around with Jimmy Carter at southern gas stations, with the terrorists like Hezbollah (although he's Christian) -- people are ignorant. The same issues were recently raised by some regarding Nihai of DWP. None of that is his fault: he has plenty of them, but he's bent over backwards to show support to his Jewish community and others.

12:26: I don't know if you're just dumb, or a "self-hating white person," what's been said about ethnic minorities -- but I don't know any European who's ashamed of their ethnicity. And it's not just "norther Europeans" who are white -- some of the most racially aware are East Europeans like Russians and Poles (who used to be looked down on as Slavs, still are in Europe), and Italians (who still are looked down on by Brits and northern Europeans as "those lazy Latins," but they've got the strongest racial identity against the blacks of nearby N. Africa.)

Trend is actually, the more marginal the whites, economically or in terms of dark skin or being Latin and linked to the lowest of them all, the Hispanics -- the more racially "proud" and white they feel.

The idea that whites should feel ashamed because of Latino racists like Reyes, Alarcon, Cedillo and somewhat lesser, Huizar and Cardenas -- all of whom LOOK Latino not like their Presidents Fox and Vicente and the upper class -- is a sign YOU need to get out of L A. Or learn to be "proud in La Raza," like the Mexicans and blacks! (If only we could talk about "white pride" just like they do, without it sounding racist -- so why should THEY be able to say it, clenched fists and all?)

1:08: That's exactly what goes on in Mexico all the time. The upper class like Fox and Calderon DO think of themselves as Caucasian, claiming descent from the Spaniards, and this goes on in every Latin country, and places like Puerto Rico. Where they claim that skin color doesn't matter but social status derives from it.

Also, look at their actresses, even on trashy novelas: they're dyed light brown or blonde, with light skin, and definitely consider themselves socially and in every way superior to the dark Indians.

Whose features are different and heavier, or just "Zorro looking," like those we have among L A politicians. That's why "anglo" features like Villar's, even though with dark skin, was considered so special. But his girlfriend Mirthala who was dark, wouldn't have made it down there -- even Eva Longoria is considered "too dark" by their critics and beauty experts, to be beautiful. They're sort of proud of her success, but a lighter skinned Latina like Selma Hayek is more a matter of pride, and they've adopted Spaniard Penelope Cruz as more their "type."

This sort of La Raza stuff and the kinds of Indian-looking immigrants we get here, are second-class at home. And they call US racist!

LA TIMES.....The vote occurred after more than 300 backers of L.A. Six of the contracts are held by current or former appointees to city commissions.

In addition, 172 political contributions were made to city politicians by executives and employees of 20 of the 26 contractors for L.A. Bridges I and II. "When does a Mexican become Spanish? When your daughter marries him." That was the old joke.

Growing up here in LA in the '60's in a white area, you did not want people to know you were Mexican. You would not speak spanish in public or in front of non-Mexicans. You'd play up some small insignificant part of your heritage like the fact that you are 1/32 German or something, even if you weren't. You'd lighten your hair, stay out of the sun, use fade cream and even wear those stupid blue contacts. You'd make sure you didn't have any Mexican art or books laying around the house in case people came over. If your darker relatives came to visit, do not introduce them to the neighbors. If the neighbors see them, tell them you are just hosting some poor Mexicans for your church.

Nowadays people want to be Mexican, even people who aren't. White people are now claiming to be part Mexican. I'm torn. Do I reclaim my Mexican roots which I was told to hide? or would that be fake? If I continue to hide my Mexican roots, is that fake? Or do I go to Mayor Sam and tell my story anonymously? Answer "C" is correct.

Mayor and Weiss's traffic plan for Pico and Olympic gets slap down by judge.

By Steve Hymon, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
12:57 PM PDT, May 5, 2008
A Superior Court judge gave a big red light to the city of Los Angeles this morning when he ruled that a plan to make the Westside's Olympic and Pico boulevards behave more like one-way streets can't go forward until a study is done of its effects on businesses and residents.

The ruling is a blow to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his ally City Councilman Jack Weiss, both of whom have been pushing the proposal since November. Two Westside groups -- one representing businesses and the other homeowners -- sued the city to stop the plan.

In his five-page ruling, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge John Torribio wrote that the Olympic-Pico proposal had a reasonable chance of causing impacts that required study. He took particular umbrage with a claim by the city that the project didn't need to be studied because it wasn't a major change to how the streets are managed.

"In other words, the very purpose of the project is to expand the use of the existing streets," Torribio wrote. "To claim that the project will not expand the current use and is therefore exempt" from further study "seems inconsistent with the stated purpose."

The idea behind the proposal was to give commuters an easier way to get to and from jobs on the Westside, given that the Santa Monica Freeway is often clogged.

The first part of the plan involved removing street parking along parts of Olympic and Pico during rush hours -- leading to complaints from merchants, who said they feared it would frustrate and drive away customers. The city also wants to time traffic signals to stay green longer so that westbound Olympic and eastbound Pico traffic moves faster.

City leaders had planned to start work on the project this week.

"This is a pretty clear ruling -- they have to start from scratch," said John Murdock, an attorney representing the Westwood South of Santa Monica Boulevard Homeowners Assn. "They've got to look at the whole project from beginning to end and determine whether it can be mitigated or not -- and if it can't, they've got to do a full environmental impact report."

Such studies can take six months to a year to complete.

Matt Szabo, a spokesman for the mayor, said officials would be reviewing the decision. Last week, Villaraigosa said the city would be willing to conduct a study if required.

Call this the "CERVEZAS of MEXICO TOUR".

LOS ANGELES – Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) will lead a bipartisan legislative delegation that will travel to Mexico beginning Wednesday, May 7th to meet with Mexican President Felipe Calderón as well as the nation’s leading business and political leaders. The focus of the mission is to continue strengthening the commercial, cultural and political relationship that exists between California and Mexico.

Núñez will be joined by Assemblymembers Joe Coto (D-San Jose) and Kevin DeLeón (D- Los Angeles) and Senator Abel Maldonado (R-Santa Maria). The visit is a result of Calderón’s invitation to visit Mexico City after the Mexican president spoke before a joint session of the legislature on February 13, 2008.

Cooperation on economic issues has continued to prove vital to the economic vitality of both California and Mexico. Mexico is the largest market for exports of California-made goods and has been California’s main trading partner since 1999. California exported $19.6 billion worth of goods to Mexico in 2006, accounting for 15 percent of California’s overall goods export. In 2006, California’s total gross state product was $1.7 trillion. Mexico’s gross domestic product in 2007 was $1.35 trillion. For every $1 billion of California exports to Mexico, 14,000 to 16,000 higher paying jobs are created.

Speaker Núñez will focus as well in promoting California’s growing green economy and technology.

“It is critical that California continue to have a strong relationship with Mexico,” said Núñez. “Our delegation will help continue to foster a mutually beneficial relationship to bolster the economic prosperity of both California and Mexico.”

According to the 2000 census, 8.4 million California residents are of Mexican descent, and 40 percent of the population in Southern California, between Los Angeles and the Mexican border, speaks Spanish.

The original people of Mexico were indians. They were shorter, thicker, darker, thicker features. The Spanish as in from Spain conquered Mexico, Peru, Cuba... By 1825 Spain had lost most of their conquests.

While the Spanish controlled Mexico, they and the missionaries introduced the spanish language and culture to the indians. Some of the Spanish married some of the Indians though it was frowned upon as the Indians were considered lower class. The Spanish were taller, thinner, lighter, smaller features than the Indians. They considered the Indians beneath them.

A lot of Mexicans are still basically the native indians. Some have mixed with the Spanish who came to Mexico when Spain was in charge. The Spanish brought a lot of people over to build buildings, bull arenas, agriculture. These people stayed in Mexico after Spain lost control. They were still in charge of business and some government entities. To this day a taller, thinner, lighter Mexican is preferred. They believe they are superior to the Indians.

Some of these Spanish Mexicans have now bred with full on caucasians from the US. If the baby is born in Mexico, it's legally a Mexican. If the baby is born over the border, it's an American. There are many shades of brown and white here.
