Jack Hoff's Weekend Calendar
The only activity of note that I could find for this weekend is straight from yesterday's Daily News (Thur. 3/6/08). I am printing it verbatim.
Around The Region/ANTELOPE VALLEY
Rescued animals will be on display
Lancaster - The Wildlife Waystation will present its collection of rescued animals at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve at 35th Street West and Avenue K-8. The animals include a rabbit, a ferret and a chinchilla.
There is a $2 charge, and children 3 and under are free. For more information, call the preserve's interpretive center at 661-723-6230.
Okay. So let me get this straight;
A rabbit..... A ferret...... A chinchilla.
Hmm.
A couple questions:
Uh, how early can we line up?
What time do they start handing out the wristbands?
Starts at 6, ends at, what, 6:05?
For this, you needed a press release?
And what is the annual budget for this program?
(Any questions I've missed? Have a great weekend, JackHoffians!)

I've got two hounds ... a rabbit ... a hibernating tortoise ... and a dead hermit crab still in its terarrium.
How much you think I could get for a gander at them?
And buyer beware, the little hound is into submissive urination.

The Wildlife Waystation lost their Fish & Game permits. They were sued by USDA for violations of the Animal Welfare Act. They can't do an animal exhibit. They are broke, on the edge of bankruptcy which they admit themselves.
They have lions, tigers, some primates, many animals.
Here is their website

Thanks, 4:33, but I need to keep you on track here. This particular post is about how we use language to communicate, not whether or not the Wildlife Waystation is a viable or even well-intentioned organization.
And for future reference, on Jack Hoff threads, we don't post links.
It's our small way of motivating people to subscribe to (and read) a daily newspaper or two and I'll say it right now, subscribing to a newspaper may be one of the most patriotic things we can do in this electronic age.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and your obvious interest in animal welfare.

Ferrets are illegal in California. They can't show a ferret.

5:58, thanks. He may be right, but we don't care. It's the weekend. The law will still be there on Monday. Now put your link away and go grab something to drink.

Higby you got this clown who doesn't want links on the blog and tells you buying a newspaper is patriotic? What kind idiot is he? If you were looking for someone to make Joe Mailander look like a genius you sure did it with Jack Hoff and Edward Head Up His Ass.

Jack Hoff is the talk of the town. Everyone is talking about his picture posting all over town. Thank you for bringing this important issue to our attention. I think it was comedy genius comparing LAUSD to Laurel and Hardey. Pretty original. I think someone said you are a pro comedy writer. I can really tell. Thank you for turning this blog into your own outlet to post your brilliant professional comedy. That's the main reason I come around here.

We like the new direction of Mayor Sam's blog. Very entertaining. We were pretty tired of all the hard hitting political stories that put pressure on us. Keep it up.

There are intelligent, involved people who check out this blog for only two reasons: to make sure that neither they, nor their friends aren't being slandered by idiots and because, unfortunately, there isn't a good alternative site offering real insider information and legitimate comment. It's not surprising then that some of these readers, frustrated by the gibberish posted by these make believe anonymous pundits, would leave critical comments.

Spoken like a true make-believe anonymous pundit.

Jack Hoff,
I think your favorite activity has resulted in some of your brain cells being ejected too.
You cannot purport to post on a topic, say Obama, or the Waystation, or Jack Weiss, or traffic -- and then try to control what people post about it.
If you post on Hillary's sexual orientation, for example, some people might post on her campaign. And vice-versa.
Dumbass! Go play on a freeway!
Anyway, now on to the Wildlife Waystation.
It is run by a little napoleonic troll of a man named Robert "Bob" Lorsch. Such an egomaniac, he named his house "Lorschland." (Not kidding).
He is a convicted felon, a mean-spirited SOB, and has never given to charity unless there are a 100 cameras there to capture it.
In sum, a miserable, name-dropping, cheasy, idiotic, false, troubled little man.
The Waystation purports to rescue animals, but it just serves as a private menagerie for the likes of Lorsch, who lets the taxpayers foot the bill with its 501(c)(3) status.
Unsurprisingly, the animals are abused, and thus, the Waystation has lost its permits.
No one in the animal community (or LA), respects Mr. Lorsch.
Oh, and he is a liar. Check out the invitations for his annual fundraisers. Lathered with A-list names (which is consistent with his huckster personality), he is lucky if a D-lister ever shows up.
Pitiful.
And too good not to post.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):
Today is our last day in port before heading north, so we thought we would take advantage of the wireless. As for the use of language, we would say to Mister Hoff that language, if you will, is one way of communicating. We would also point out that silence or the complete avoidance of responding to a topic or responding to something in a totally different vein is also something totally different that can either be construed one way or another, savvy?
Sort of like how some men respond to their wives or girlfriends who suspect them of dipping their wick into another honey pot altogether. While silence is often the preferred form of communication, there is always the language of denial, which, if you will, is a language unto itself.
(Sighs) But then again, I've not always been a man for grand speechs and flowery prose. I just call it as I see it.
And, I concur with the post about Mister Lorsch, only I would add that he's not an SOB. He's what Dennis Leary sings about in one of his songs on YouTube. We'd have the Bard sing for you, but we're reminded this is a "G" rate programme, savvy?

Lorsch left the Waystation. He stated he couldn't work with Collette. Both are corrupt, but that doesn't mean they are kindered spirits.
Martine Collette tells the press if they don't get money they will have to kill the animals. Perhaps they should have stopped paying those "coyotes" to go south of the border to bring up undocumented workers. That's 2000 a pop when there were perfectly able bodies here. Oh, but those legal folks can speak English and expose the place for what it really is.
Meanwhile the Daily News keeps sucking up to them and printing their propaganda. It must be nice to have a major paper do their fund raising. Perhaps the Daily News can provide equal time for other, more worthy, rescue groups. Especially the ones that don't resort to human trafficking.

Which is worse? Her off topic gang rants or off topic animal rants? Jack, do not let it bug you. We're used to the nutty contrarian and anyway this is a good post.
Anonymous said:
To rant or not to rant, that is the question.
Be it a rant of merit, a rant worth being.
Be it a rant lacking merit, then be it naught.
I think the rants have merit. Keep 'em coming.
Anonymous said:
9:33 could've predicted you'd say that. you're the off topic nutty waystation ranter on a break from pulling squirrel teeth.
