Palin Preggers; Expect Liberal Hypocrisy

Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband are expecting their fifth child in May, she announced Wednesday.

Palin, 44, who just three months ago was modeling for the fashion magazine Vogue, doesn't look seven months pregnant.

"I will be delivering an addition to the first family," Palin told a stunned group of reporters.

The Republican governor, now in her second year as Alaska's chief executive, said she does not believe the pregnancy will affect her ability to run the state. Palin has been mentioned as a potential running mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

She said her work as Wasilla mayor had only a brief interruption when she had her youngest daughter, Piper, six years ago.

"I had Piper on a Monday and I was back to work on a Tuesday," Palin said. "I even brought her to work with me."

Todd Palin, a worker in the North Slope oil fields, is on leave from his job with oil giant BP PLC.

The other Palin children are Track, 18; Bristol 17; Willow 13; and Piper, 6.

Track enlisted in the Army last year and has been assigned to Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift was the nation's first governor to give birth while in office. She had twin girls May 15, 2001.

Nothing could interfere with Palin running her state. It doesn't even have a population. Ok, she just won't be able to shovel snow outside her Governor's manse for a few months. Higby, leave this one up in them there woods. She's not Veep material.

Good evening Mr. Mayor,

One can assume that "Global Cooling" will become the excuse for the population increase in Alaska.

give up the obsession, Higby. The woman has five kids and someone who sounds like the "hot muscle dude but with brains" Jack, that Anne Heche has up thar in "Men in Trees."

But on a national level, no one's heard of her, she can't be useful to McCain. He needs a young Southern dude.

Michael,

I'm republican. Think about winning. Think the base. Think the electorate. Exhale and say "Big Southern state." Get over her!

It's 2008. Responsible people shouldn't even be having 5 kids! Her kids need her attention now. There is no time for her to be a vice presidential candidate.

Bummer on that for you Mayor. What is she? Mormon? Catholic?

Whatever. I agree with the first poster. She's simply not Veep material.

This woman is being slammed for having 5 kids, in a state which isn't overpopulated, and frankly, may need the people.

Meanwhile, the population in Calif. is growing only from the children of immigrants, many illegals, who have 5 kids or as many as 13 -- the poorer, the more, in fact. The families have an avg. income of $25,000, while the cost of educating one child is over $7000.

Are these people paying their share? Hardly, when that's the tip of the iceberg in what they cost.

This is the crisis, not Palin.

(Though I believe in at least a few mos. with the baby to bond.)

These posters do not "slam" Palin. They raise a legit issue about her being a candidate for VP and the Republican position on this thread is a resounding "no". She can't deliver the votes McCain needs to win. McCain has to get closer to the base and 7:07 is right. It should be a young Southern man. How 11:34 again tries to turn everything into an ugly immigration rant is ponderous.
