Is the region outgrowing its capacity to police itself effectively? Are the density hawks driving the City and the region alike to an increase in stories like the following?

"Growth is inevitable. I don't know anyone who doesn't want to grow," Goldberg is fond of saying.

A San Diego man told CNN his captors sliced his tongue and beat him with the butt of a rifle for 2 weeks while his daughter tried to round up the ransom money. He had been visiting in Tijuana when men dressed like police officers and carrying automatic rifles dragged him off.
"The brutality that is inflicted on some of these people is unconscionable," FBI agent Keith Slotter told CNN.

"Regional Planning" is not who is doing the kidnapping and being so violent to innocent victims. It is the mexican illegal alien criminals who sneak across the
border who are responsible.
Just read the newspapers, every day in Los Angeles there is violence, murder and mayhem. This is because Los Angeles is a sanctuary city fo illegal aliens, NOT because of Gail Goldberg's planning.

Boy, 13, shot dead while picking lemons in yard
A 13-year-old boy picking lemons outside his home in Los Angeles was shot to death by an unknown killer. The attack Thursday night in the Echo Park area is the latest in a string of shootings that have victimized young children and teens in Los Angeles in recent weeks. Anthony Ezquiel Escobar was found lying on the ground and died at a hospital. He had been shot several times.

Police say 34-year-old Santiago Contreras was found Saturday on a mountain slope near Highway 138. It appears he was shot at the scene. Contreras was beaten Feb. 18 by a group of armed men who forced their way into his house and took his wife and three teenage children hostage. Contreras was taken away by gunpoint. No ransom note was given to the family during the five-day ordeal. Police are trying to determine whether there is any connection to an incident where Contreras' brother-in-law was held for ransom in Mexico last year in a drug-related incident.

An Ontario father of three was beaten and kidnapped Monday afternoon by a band of men who police said had held his wife and children hostage for hours as they waited for his return home, authorities said today.
Police have no suspected motive and the family has received no ransom demand, said Ontario Police Lt. Brad Wirtz. Authorities said they believed it is possible that the suspects fled across the border to Mexico.

Seven suspected gang members arrested in Pasadena
PASADENA - Seven suspected gang members were arrested in the city in the last week for the stabbing and beating of three people at a city gas station. The people were fueling up their car at a gas station near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Washington Blvd. around 2:30 a.m. on February 10 when the suspects surrounded them and attacked, said Lt. Alex Uribe of the Pasadena Police. The men arrested are Julio Hernandez, 23, Gustavo Menzo, 18, Edgar Sentero, 19, Michael Martin Solis, 19, Robert Julio Arnaud, 19, Jose Antonio Garcia, 24, and Wilbur Dominguez, 19. Uribe said that he believed the suspects are members of the Pasadena Latin Kings gang.

There may be no Mexican crime in Saskatoon, Canada because there are probably no Mexicans.
In one town north of Detroit, a few hundred illegal Mexicans settled within a span of a few weeks, and the whole town flew into a panic, and the Mayor "banned" any more Mexicans from coming, and told them they were not welcome to help themselves to the free healthcare the good people of Canada worked hard and taxed themselves for.
Nor were their kids welcome in the schools, which were unapologetically CANADIAN and English and/or French-speaking. It's Maple Leafs and maple syrup there, not Mexican flags and churros. (Though they probably wouldn't mind just the churros.)

Organized, well-financed and violent Mexican kidnapping cells are targeting a growing number of U.S. citizens visiting communities popular with San Diegans and other California residents.
Last year, at least 26 San Diego County residents were kidnapped and held for ransom in Tijuana, Rosarito Beach or Ensenada, local FBI agents overseeing the cases said yesterday. In 2006, at least 11 county residents had been kidnapped in the three communities.

Of course kidnapping and torture of American tourists in towns of TJ, Rosarito Beach and Ensenada didn't come up with Calderon was visiting with the Mayor -- it was all about beating up on the U.S. as the cause of all Mexico's ills, including this crime. Because if we had open borders they could come here more easily and wouldn't have to be trying to "just make a living" by things like kidnapping and human traficking. Another recent L A Times article talked about whole border towns of smugglers, who are impervious even to Border Guards' pepper spray (they wear special heavy clothing), blame the U. S. for the problem because we don't have open borders, and justify what they do as "just filling a need."
