Steve Poizner to support "No on Prop 93" Campaign
In a move that could profoundly impact the Los Angeles and State Political scene. State Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner has pledged "MAJOR SUPPORT" to the "No on Prop 93" campaign. Better known as the "Keep Nunez as Speaker Scheme".
Monetary support ($1.5 million + $1.5 million from a DC group), from Multi-millionaire Poizner would help the "No on Prop 93" forces get out their message, helping to blunted the millions being given by "Friends of Nunez and State Senate Leader Dan Perata.
Past financial dealings by both Perata and more recently Nunez will be front and center in this campaign.
Plus there are plenty of questions regarding the strong arm tactics that Nunez use to get this proposition on the February ballot.
Only a thought, but maybe the "BOYD'S", aka the duo holding sway over the Los Angeles County GOP. Can help forge a marriage between the "NO PHONE TAX" coalition and the "NO ON PROP 93" group. Thus ridding us of two dubious schemes of Democratic politics.
More telling if Prop 93 was to go down to defeat. How would the political landscape change locally and on the state level ? Rumors are abound in Sacramento over who would replace Nunez. Pundits predict tough sailing for the Democrats if Prop 93 is defeated.
Further, what would the political future hold for Nunez. Many had speculated a run for Mayor if Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa runs for Governor.
On the Republican side, recent revelations on the antics of Newsome, Villaraigosa, Nunez and Perata give them a chance to regain some semblance of a political footing. But can they put behind their internal bickering to regain some bearing in the State's body politics ?

The State Rinos have already been controlling the state finances and keeping money away from L A when it comes to getting our share of transportation funds, even the Daily News has an editorial about it today.
About how 85% of water cargo comes through L A, all those trucks being a big reason for our congestion and collapsing roads, but the Rinos hate L A as a Dem stronghold. It's the Rinos who stole #1.3 billion of the "surplus gas tax" voters passed a bond for to ONLY go to transportation funds. Arnold gave in, agreed to steal the money to balance the budget.
They spent fed transportation funds in one-light Republican towns like Stockton -- admittedly to spite L A and San Francisco.
(The kind of trick Bernie Parks wants to pull now over the cop- funding trash tax. These bait- and -switch taxes are what you ought to rail against -- closing loopholes letting crafty pols steal funds to balance their budget, letting them mismanage it knowing there will be money down the line. But like with L A., the state is hurting for lack of ever increasing prop taxes now that there's a RE slowdown.)
Too bad it's this crop of Dems, the Hispanic like Nunez and Cedillo vs. the I HATE L A Rinos. Given the choice, we have to keep the Dems or we'll get no bucks at all ever.

I'm a Dem but I also blame the Dem politicians for not getting back California's rightful share of federal money. Our share of money goes instead to support people in Mississippi and other under-productive states.

Mayor V was twiddling his fingers - or Mirthala - when LA lost its transportation funds in Sacramento.

3:13, how do you blame republicans for the transportation funds theft when the democrats hold a 2/3 majority in both houses?

Where is Mirthala anyway?

And where is our Blognet standing?
Are we in first place yet?

5:44; GO BACK and read about how 13 Rinos determined how the funds were disbursed and why -- chief crook is a Rino from Stockton, but the one in Thousand Oaks was on board, too.
Go to searches in Daily News, LATimes-- what matters is who controls and can veto the budget.
Why do you think the budget wasn't passed until it was months late? There was a deadlock until Arnold gave in to them and got a fraction of what we'd been promised.

The Boyd's?
You mean the ones that got paid $35,000 for getting Jimmy Hahn the endorsement of the Lincoln Clubs and all the members of the LA County Republican Central Committee?
Is it any wonder the Republicans in the county are in full retreat with these two jokers running things in LA?
Republicans endorsing a loser Democrat!@!%*%$&*&!!!
They should give the $35,000 to the Republican Party and do mea culpas.

In the meantime, Spillane claimed many of the big donors to the pro-93 side were afraid not to give.
"It's a whose who of the Capitol's largest interest groups," Spillane said. "People who do business in the legislature who have a gun pointed at their heads by legislative leadership."
The California Teacher's Association and the Los Angeles Casino PAC each have given a quarter million dollars. Those giving $100,000 each include the California Correction Peace Officers Association, the SEIU United Healthcare Workers, and a pair of gaming tribes, the Pala Band of Mission Indians and the United Auburn Indian Community. At least four members of Núñez caucus have also made donations of at least $45,000.

Amen to 1:23 p.m. If you are doing business in Sacramento and don't want the Speaker punishing you, you give until it hurts to keep this dude happy. Nothing to do with good government or good public policy. Rather, power for the sake of power (and ego), which then helps provide him with the $$$ to shop at Louis Vuitton and spend $200 per person for a luncheon to entertain friends and associates.
Am delighted that someone is talking about putting up some decent funds to run a campaign against this piece of self-serving legislation....
