LAUSD Principals Are TARDY When It Comes To "Safe School Plan"

Will the hundred, or so, LAUSD school principals who have not turned in their annual "Safe School Plan" please report to Uncle Zuma Dogg's office immediately!

This means the hundred schools are NON-COMPLIANT when it comes to safety. This report, due October 1, 2007, includes evacuation plans and how they handle emergencies. But for these schools who have blown off the plan, like a drop-out blows off their homework, I guess the plan is "no plan". (They can just figure out how to handle the emergency DURING the emergency.) I'd like to see this matter handled before the next LAUSD Safety Committee Meeting. City Council...Janice Hahn...Richard AlarCON...can you look into this, too.

Good afternoon Mr. Dogg,

No more Fire Drills ? What about "Duck, Cover, and Grab" ?. Those were fun during the Cold War Era. I remember when our high school would do mock disaster drills. Those drills come in handy, Does anyone remember the Whittier Narrows quake ? Drills came in handy that day.

The UTLA has also opposed Brewer's plan to spin off some lowest- performing schools into a separate cluster, just like they obstructed the Mayor for years. Given that the schools are so poor now, you'd think they'd be open to improvements, but no, not in academics, not in safety.

Hey, Zuma, if you really want to put your Deming's Principles of Improvement to use, go bug UTLA/Duffy. That's one guy and group who actually deserves you.

personally, i think one of the mayor's objectives (the short list) that he must accomplish for his backers is to shoot LAUSD in the foot and tank it. AB 1381 didn't work, but he's still able to do it with his four-backed board. anyway...you say zd should contact utla about deming.

MAN...between intentionally tanking LAUSD or trying to actually fix it...I think putting it out of it's misery would probably be the most efficient solution.

Zuma, you're starting to sound like Ol' Wrinkle Ass (Red Spot).

Just because the emergency plans haven't been turned in by some principals does not mean there are NO plans...

How would they do their monthly fire/emergency drills?

Gawd, find a bigger issue, bro.

Hi, Zuma, go to nelalist@yahoogroups.com and read:
New Central High School # 13- Taylor Yard. Do you know anything about it? Is Villaraigosa involved in it? I would not be surprised if he is.

I know LAUSD is such a large and complex problem, but Villaraigosa is not the solution he lacks ethics just like LAUSD.

Well I think it's pretty clear 11:32 doesn't have children. Or he/she would be a little more concerned about this. BTW 11:32, how do you know they do monthly drills? Have you been to all 100 +/- schools? Thank you Zuma Dogg for keeping the pressure on!

So the assumption must be that Zuma has attended all 100+ schools and has seen NO drills?

What's obvious is that 8:43a doesn't have any kids currently in school. Does 8:43a really believe that parents, PTA's, PTO's and teachers AREN'T keeping an eye on a school's principal? Wise up and don't be so paranoid.

9:53 said, "So the assumption must be that Zuma has attended all 100+ schools and has seen NO drills?"

I (8:43) did not say that or assume that. You assumed that. Zuma Dogg has said that 100 schools have not filed their emergency plans. Is that true? I don't know. You don't know. Maybe Zuma Dogg can shed some more light.

The bottom line is that these schools are required to file an emergency plan and IF they haven't that is putting our children at risk. I just hope we don't have to find out. One person's paranoia is another person's good planning.

10:26, please look up "assumption." It's in a thing call the "dictionary." Now stop being so stupid.

10:26 You are the only one to make any assumptions. I simply posed the question, "How do you know they do the monthly drills?" That is not an assumption. It is simply a question.

You made the leap to state "So the assumption must be that Zuma has attended all 100+ schools and has seen NO drills?" Though you did pose it as a question, it is an assumption as you suggested.

At any rate, I made my point. You can't defend the fact that not filing an emergency plan puts children at risk. All you can do is try to attack and insult. Very impressive...

Say no more...

It's pretty clear that's all you are capable of saying.

8:43: Many people with kids just see LAUSD as a big black sucking noise for our tax dollars. The system and UTLA only care about pulling up the lowest at the expense of those who teach their kids English, commitment and proper behavior, but we have to pay for the holes that we can't then send our kids to. So have to pay for private schools, paying twice. But does anyone give a damn they're only building schools for the underclass, while the whole westside and hillsides have to send kids to private schools with a few exceptions? No. Funding LAUSD by the middle and upper middle class is like hitting up homeowners for Janice Hahn's gang tax, to be used only for inner city gang areas. There it is, the sucking noise of our taxes ---

Zuma has no credibility when it comes to education. What a crack up! He still thinks he can dog the principals. A high school drop out thinks he can critique people who have an education. People and parents like Zuma are the reason LAUSD sucks. ....People who think they know what they are talking about. Mayor Zuma's sister city sucks!

Just because Zuma can name drop Deming and some stupid marketing rules .... he thinks he's an advocate. Guess what Zuma? Those are just processes ... a means to no end. Just like your life. Anarchists like Zuma should quit talking and take action. Anarchists who are all talk and no action are losers!

School Site Councils?
If The School Site Councils were paying attention we wouldn't have 100 non-compliant schools.

Let's see... Let's ask the people we are paying money, if they are doing their jobs?
No? You're fired.

If you watched the LAUSD Safety Meeting you would have heard about a Middle School that for over 5 months
had a restroom with only 4 working toilets for 700 girls to share during Lunch and Nutrition. The other school restrooms were locked.

Where was their School site council?.
Many S.S.C. meetings allow you to discuss only what is on their Agenda. (Budgets)

If you are Spouting something different,
You are uneducated in reality.
This same school paid for a Parent Center, That didn't have any meetings , and the Principal refused to allow parents to get together to discuss school issues.

Parents had a community meeting to discuss the problems. School Staff crashed the meeting and told the Parents:
"We don't want to hear your concerns and complaints."
Took The Microphone away from the Parents, and didn't allow the Parents to speak.

I can also add that since the Parent Meeting, The "Group of people controlling the school,"
and the LAUSD District Director
(Principals Boss), Attend the Neighborhood Council Meetings to
intimidate Parents from speaking up.
In my opinion.

Was that Markham Middle School? Where for a long time Principal Stroud has professed there was no gang problem at her school.

Where this was probably the most problematic middle school in the entire city.
