Mayor Sam's Morning Update

Some of our readers have been posting comments in various places that County Supervisor Zev Yarovslasky must go. Hot off yet another Orange Line busway mishap - let alone all the other brouhahas floating around the County Hall - Zev is looking more and more vulnerable.

We reported several days ago that local businessman and activist - and our favorite son - David Hernandez has announced he will challenge Zev for his seat in the 2006 elections. More and more, David is looking like a fresh alternative to Zev to many voters. When you have major conservative icons like Pat Boone, Melrose Larry Green, Ted Hays AND Mayor Sam in your corner - you have to be considered pretty cool, right?

Our only concern - and hope - is that leadership of the LA County Republican Party - of which David is a member - will put significant party resources behind him. We all know too well how the County GOP's husband and wife power couple - Doug and Linda Boyd - pulled out all the stops for Mayor Hahn in the primary, especially when there were two Republicans (at the time) in the race. We reported it here and here and here, but remember that Doug Boyd got over $30,000 from Jim Hahn to deliver Republican votes. But Mayor Sam will be willing to let bygones be bygones if the County GOP goes balls out for David and gives him the resources he needs and deserves.

Google - the company that just continues to amaze - has a really cool feature for bloggers and blog fans - their blog search feature. However, there is one drawback to this - unlike other Google tools like image search, groups, news, Froogle (shopping), and local which are on Google's front page, the blog search is on their more page. Now this isn't Earth shattering, but it would be really more conveninent if the blog search feature were on the front page as well. Since Google owns Blogger, home of many blogs which run Google ads, it would be their advantage.

Here's something to make an old, dead Mayor pleased. Tomorrow Mayor V will join with our old friend Senator Richard Alarcon to help distribute toys at Alarcon's annual "Gift of Christmas" event in Pacoima. Yes, they called it Christmas! Go Richard!

If anyone missed Mayor Sam regular, Dgarzila's "Johnny Cash" impersonation at City Council today, they replay the sessions on the City Channel on the weekend.

One thing you can say for him. . . he wakes them up. No one ignores Dgarzila when he goes to the microphone to speak

No one can beat Zev.

Someone should try to knock-out GloMo. She is more vulnerable.

Well, I'm a Republican and I wouldn't give a sou to the County Republican Party unless and until both Linda and Doug Boyd are gone.

Similarly, I have refused to renew my membership in the Lincoln Club for the same reason.

Mayor Sam, you obviously know very little about the Republican politics, such as they are, in LA County, but I can tell you that there will be little if any money raised by them.

Zev is a shoo-in, and I am willing to bet that no one will get even 40% of the vote against him.

If Hernandez is counting on them to pull him through, he better get resigned to losing big, IN THE PRIMARY.

I heard the song .

Thanks for the comparison I am humbled by it. ANd yes most of the song rings true for me and what I believe. I think all of it does.

Man In Black - Johnny Cash
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black

Both Zev and Gloria will be shoo ins because they've got the love of Antonio behind them.

It is nearly impossible to oust a supervisor.

While Linda Boyd ius giving up the $5,000 a month, maybe she and Doug can give back the $35,000+ that Jimmy Han gave them to buy the LA County Republican Central Committee members' endorsements, as well as the Lincoln Club Endorsement.

What a waste of money by Mayor Poopie; is it any wonder that Antonio kicked his butt?

But The Boyds sold us out and I, too, will never give a penny to the party as long as they are there.

A shame on the Lincon Club, endorsing a Democrat. Only the Boyds would do something like that.

Hernandez has no chance, unless they catch Zev with dead girl or a live boy.

And Hernandez has bungled the three times he ran the save the county seal campaign. Three strikes and you're out, David. Even Antonovich told him, in a little published CNS article, that someone else should run the petition campaign instead of the quixotic Hernandez. If David can't raise money for a silly little replacement of the county seal, what makes you think he can take on the Goliath Zev?

Hmmmm, maybe I'll go looking for a dead girl or a little boy to give to Zev.

Can't someone plant them?

(just kidding Bush's CIA agents)
