Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
A new Spanish language television network which counts among it's partners local PBS outlet KCET begins programming on cable networks this week. Their opening news conference was attended by Mayor Villaraigosa. He must have been trolling for Mirthala's replacement.
Goofy Mike Woo's Goofy plan to create a "parking crisis" has been smartly rejected by CM Jack Weiss. The idea that not providing any parking for a housing development will force people onto buses and trains is about as irresponsible as all get out. At the same time, CM LeBong showed up to the grand opening of a 138 unit apartment next to the Universal City Red Line station. When asked by the Clowncilman (who probably first asked everyone what high school they went to) how many of the residents were using the subway, well, uh, only one. The simple truth is its going to be a long time before the non-transit dependent use buses and trains and until jobs are located near housing traffic will not be addressed.
Rather than easing onerous regulations on housing construction that lead to higher prices, Mayor Villaraigosa wants to extend socialist housing benefits to middle income families, whatever that means. Walter Moore has a good take on this issue here.
The popular and outstanding Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles is under an anti-semitic attack by NIMBYs in their neighborhood. Opponents who appear to be radical anti-Israel leftists are using the usual NIMBY attacks to take on the Museum which wants to modernize.
We can't get the Metro Green Line to go the extra mile to LAX but Mayor Villaraigosa is in favor of extending the Metro Gold Line from Pasadena to Ontario Airport.
And finally, conservative hottie Debbie Schlussel takes on Jan Perry's dumbass idea to ban fast food restaurants. Remember - when Big Macs are outlawed only outlaws will eat Big Macs.

The juxtaposition of "Walter Moore" and "good take" is an oxymoron.
