First of all, someone tell CM Wendy Greuel that Neighborhood Council isn't a place to go for a Boy Scout who needs money for his personal project; or for art supplies for a bunch of adults who want art supplies for theyselves; AND ESPECIALLY NOT FOR "Big Brother" CAMERAS FOR PUBLIC STREET CORNERS.
NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL IS NOT SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR THINGS LIKE POLICE CAMERAS! (LAPD doesn't pay for NC Community outreach or office supplies.) ZD hears that Greuel-Shady is going to multiple NCs in her district to cough up Neighborhood money for cameras that someone else should be paying for. (ZD hears Valley Glenn may have already been strong-armed into paying-in.)
AND SPEAKING OF OUTREACH: CM Greuel, can you please DO some outreach in your area, cause another NC meeting bit the dust becasue they didn't have a quorum. (This is the problem too many times with NC.) Then nothing gets advanced on the agenda; nothing gets DONE (no pun); and people become disenfranchised; and more and more people never return.
I HOPE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES AT DWP END UP GOING TO JAIL!
HEY DWP...You're NOT Gregory Abbott!!!: PEOPLE/PUEBLOS GET READY FOR DWP TO "SHAKE YOU DOWN" UNTIL THEY SHAKE EVERYONE IN L.A. RIGHT OUT OF TOWN OR INTO BANKRUPTCY.
I would not invest in the City of Los Angeles if you are concerned about things like bond ratings. THE PEOPLE OF LOS ANGELES ARE IN BIG TROUBLE! I DON'T KNOW WHO'S WORSE...CRA or DWP?
This time, DWP done pissed off Big ZD, on the realest, dough! Get ready for a little 3% rate hike...EVERY SIX MONTHS UNTIL 2010! And they are so full of sh*t! They say they need all this money for improved infrastructure upgrades??? (B to the S!) YOU SHADY, CORRUPT people at DWP let the problem go so long, that now you are running to your customers to pay for the upgrades YOU should have been making all along!!!
WHAT THE F*CK HAVE YOU BEEN CHARGING YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR? Plus, they are tacking on a whole bunch of other little increases all over the place -- INCLUDING THE ILLEGAL PAYMENT OF DWP MONEY INTO LA CITY'S GENERAL FUND.
So the DWP Oversight Committee (made up of people from over 70 NC's across LA) is recommending AGAINST this increase scheme -- and created a resolution stating as such.
SO THAT SHADY, CITY-WRECKING (possible criminal behaving) DWP is tripping up the committee with red tape -- asking for signatures from EVERYONE in the 70+ plus participating NCs (that comprise the DWP oversight committee), with only two weeks to do so.
NICE TRY DWP: MAYOR SAM BLOGGERS...TIME TO EXPOSE DWP FOR THE FRAUD THAT THEY ARE: MORE TO COME...AND ZD hasn't focused all that much on INDIVIDUAL managers and powers that be at DWP -- IT'S TIME FOR THE BITCH SLAP TREATMENT. Check City Watch Fri. for DWP spin control. Watch your blood pressure ZD. Pretty soon you can show us the merits of no frills housing.
I don't care who rocks for doing a job she should have done a long time ago. Is Home Depot stopped? Or all they just stalled?
Neighborhood Councils ARE NOT for the City Council members to send people to who want the CC's officeholder account money.
Neighborhood councils are here because groups of activists all over the city weren't able to get their voices heard because they couldn't compete with the special interest money. Now they have money to be productive, not give it away in gifts that the CC members send to them.
They should be spending their money on things that will enable them to get things done. Outreach, education, office space to be organized, lobbying, etc.
Boy Scouts, schools, sport programs, etc. are not why they are here. They aren't "feel good" groups of board members.
How about secretaries, someone to do their research, mailers, fliers, newsletters and continuing education classes that relate to the city?
Someone to do all of the things that volunteers can't do because they're overloaded -- just the way the city wants to keep them. Bogged down in paperwork and giving their money to city agencies that our taxes are already supposed to be paying.
Janice's LAANE is a supporter and contributor to the Los Angeles Community Action Network. That same organization that is trying to call Amerland a slumlord , the same Amerland that is renovating the Alexandria Hotel, LAANE is also contributing to that shakedown organization known as LA CAN or Cangress.
Amerland hasn't even had time to be a landlord in Los Angeles.
It is looking like the non-profits feel threatened by for profit low income developers moving in on their territory. SO LAANE and Janis who is on the CRA board, is trying to destroy Amerland.
I smell conflict of interest big time.
Zuma as much as I agree with what you post I have to disagree with what Greuesome is doing. You should be after clowncil members who waste millions of dollars on bullshit. LAPD needs lots of equipment that is donated cause the city doesn't want to pay for it. IF neighborood councils want to spend money on cameras to fight graffitti more power to them. That will keep crime and tagging down. Its been successful in Hollywood and other areas. They didn't have Garcetti tell them to do it they did it on their own and other areas should do the same. Its doing something positive in their communities.
If we stopped contributing to the non-profits who are 'rehabilating children"; gangs, private schools, etc, we would have enough money to hire policemen and buy the equipment they need to do the job properly.

Unfortunatley, like everything shady and corrupt being done by the elected officials in Los Angeles, they take a good "warm and fuzzy" idea (cameras to prevent graffiti) and "shadys" it up.
POINT IS: The NC fund is not for these purposes. UNTIL YOU DO ENOUGH OUTREACH TO MAKE A QUORUM, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.
But quorum, or not...THIS IS NOT WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR!

I recognize that you are not a ZD basher on this, and that you are representing an understandable opinion...but again...if you need cameras for graffiti...put it on the agenda, like everything else and take the money from where it is SUPPOSED to come from...not the NC fund.

ZD - Where does the NC get their money? Do they raise it themselves? Or is it money from the general fund?
Ok, since it is from the general fund I think it's okay that we spend it on City related functions.
And how is the Councilmembers' fault if an NC fails, isn't it their organization to make succeed or fail?
