Another child victim of "Gang Violence"
Once again, a child, or in this case, an infant, is dead due to the scourge that is gang violence.
In this tragic case, the infant was the unintended target of a bullet that was meant for a street merchant near MacArthur Park.
Usually in these tragic cases, all our civic leaders are "front and center", especially with cameras rolling. Yesterday was no exception, Councilman Ed Reyes, Mayor Villaraigosa, and Police Officials offered $75,000 for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
Mayor Villaraigosa, holding the hand of the grieving mother, pledged that police would work "day and night" to catch the killer. But the cast also took the time to state that crime is down in the neighborhood around the park. I guess pandering has its place in the time of loss.

What a bunch of morons!!! Illegal vending is at an all time high in that area yet dumb ass Reyes and even Huizar in his district don't do shit. The illegal vendors are being extorted by the gang bangers. They have to pay up to be out there. As long as the moron council members don't speak out against illegal vending the gang bangers will continue to make money off of them and more violence will happen. Antonio is a joke and a clown. MOST people of asian and black heritage are CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Very few are not. They, like you and me, are documented to reside in this country. If the asians and blacks are not documented,they are usually, law abiding, quiet and dont go shooting other people just to keep the graffiti on display, or to kill someone who does not pay. HISPANIC ILLEGALS have killed over 600 people in Los Angeles. Aisans have killed maybe 50 and Blacks maybe 100; legal or illegial. I'll take the Aisans and Blacks any day.

Suspect arrested in connection with shooting near MacArthur Park

Los Angeles police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the shooting near MacArthur Park that critically wounded an outdoor vendor and killed a 23-day-old baby.
Luis Silva, 19, was arrested Sunday and charged today by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office with five felony counts including murder, attempted murder and attempted extortion. If convicted on all counts, Silva could receive the death penalty or life without parole in state prison.
Authorities said Silva, who was identified as a gang member, was one of three gunmen who opened fire in a bustling shopping area near the corner of 6th Street and Burlington Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, killing infant Luis Angel Garcia with a stray bullet.
A street vendor, identified as Francisco Clemente, and the possible target of the suspects, was wounded from the gunshots. Residents in the area said they feared it was retaliation after the vendor didn't pay "rent" to a gang.
The indictment appeared to support that theory, saying that Silva extorted "money and other property from Clemente."
The slaying stunned residents of the Westlake district, about 2 miles west of downtown, home to mostly Mexican and Central American immigrants.
City officials held a news conference Monday seeking the public's help and describing the shooting as "heinous," "terrible," and "horrific." Councilman Ed Reyes, who represents the area, announced a $75,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of those involved, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said he promised the infant's mother that "detectives were working around the clock" to solve the case.
The area has long struggled with gang violence, and police officials said they were examining the suspects' ties to the dominant gang in the area, 18th Street.
Those familiar with the investigation said gang members took "taxes" from street vendors.
Silva was expected to be arraigned in a downtown courtroom this afternoon
Didn't Mayor Villaraigosa and Councilman Jose Huizar pledge to KABC AM Radio reporter Sandy Wells, that LAPD would work day and night, to bring to justice the Semillas parent, who violated his First Amendment Right ?? Adding another item to the examples of Mayor Villaraigosa's pattern of hypocrisy:
The Mayday Melee had the mayor trolling for complaints against the police and just about telling people who likely were illegals, to litigate claims against the City for more expense to the taxpayer.
It shouldn't be his job to first assume wrongdoing by police before investigation and further to stir up potential litigation while holding office.
He wants to shield illegals from any consequences, and to do this at all costs to everyone's safety (including other illegals).
That was another example of his continued conduct of putting his own agenda ahead of the well-being of the city and the people, ALL the people.

I would like to know if you previously knew about 18th street gang members extorting money from the street vendors in the Westlake area. And why do you allow all the vendors to operate on the city sidewalks without any type of license. When did this become legal in the city of Los Angeles?
What do you plan to do now that a baby was killed by the gang members using extreme violence to collect “taxes” from the street vendors?
You are responsible for allowing this condition to exist on Sixth street, you have ignored this problem long enough you need to take immediate action. Remove all the illegal street vendors from your district.
And you need to support the Police and not make then seem like the enemy to the rest of the community. The gang unit of the LAPD should NOT have to disclose their personal finances to the city, the gang police are not the criminals. You should be worried about the 18th street gang who are the drug dealers, thieves and killers in Los Angles. You better educate yourself about the 18th street gang, they are the largest and most violent of gangs. Go visit Belmont High School and ask the campus police about the gang problems in and around the schools.
You can be sure I will be working overtime to make sure you are NOT elected if you do not take immediate action and clean up the streets in your district.
