Dan Garza is no stranger to regulars of this blog. Further, he is front and center in the fight for a better "eastside of downtown", aka, skid row. No one can question his commitment. And on occasion, he acts as the unofficial "town crier", a sight to see.Scanning through the "downtown bloggersphere" we bring you his take on last weekends "El Grito Celebration". Was it worth the $50, 000 dollar special event waiver granted by the City Council ?? Sure of one thing, some of you out there will have comments.

I would like fifty thousand dollars to hold a block party for my holiday, Bulgarian-American Independence Day.
Everyone is invited, and we will have lots of Bulgarian baklava and tea.
We are looking for someone who can sew to make our flag banners.
AAA banners in downtown has flags from almost the whole world. They have a contract with the City of LA. You might be able to get a discount if your Councilman, (CD14, CD1) orders them. (Tough luck....free things for illegal aliens only)
What about an illegal Bulgarian ?
BTW, who is the middle-age blond new to Ruiz. From Garza's caption she is a new commissioner. What are her qualifications ? I seem to notice "two" of them, if thinking like Villar.

Why did Antonio have his own private party inside city hall for VIPS and catered food? How much did that cost and since when is mexican Independence Day a separate occassion for the rich and poor in the same area but the poor aren't allowed to the VIP side? Typical loser Antonio cholo no class moron. Where was his mistress? We want her to come to the Eastside so we can tell her a few things.
I thought "El Grito" was a party for a Mexican wrestler. Boy, was I let down..

Pathetic to see Matt Dowd in City Hall bitching about the fifty grand of waivers for El Grito, when in the next breath, he "threatens" the entire City Council to settle up with him and Mike Hunt "for their own good," because he is trying to shake them down with "$500 dollar an hour lawyers, which really adds up for you," on top of his bogus claims about his "freedoms" being impinged on by limited sidewalk sales of crappy junk like his incense and hunt's cheap creams.
So nice of these homeless bums and vagrants, public nuisances, to tell the city how to "save" money. What slime.
Hey, there's still room at that nice new animal shelter in Van Nuys and it's a lot nicer than leaving doggs and mutts in hot old vans.
Don Garza is a fraud. He is on the payroll of one of the biggest lobbying firms as a consultant. Just ask him.
