BREAKING NEWS: Deaton Hospitalized
Ronald F. Deaton, chief of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, suffered a serious episode of an irregular heartbeat over the weekend and was in a Costa Rica hospital today, officials announced.
In a statement released this afternoon, the DWP stated: "Last Friday night, while on vacation in Costa Rica with his family ... Deaton suffered what doctors have described as a serious cardiac arrhythmia."
The statement continued: "Ron is currently in an intensive care unit in a Costa Rican hospital with his family by his side. He is receiving excellent care. His family is encouraged by his progress and, though his condition is quite serious, they are hopeful that he will make a full recovery. The Deaton family is currently making plans to return Ron to Los Angeles as his condition permits."

Costa Rica's not the best place to be when your heart starts giving you trouble.

I thought Mayor Sam had filters added to keep men and women of goodwill away from here, so that the real gritty, mindless, "shock and awe" work of blogging could get done.
Damn, must be more leaks in the security here than than in the U.S. southern border.
The only security leaks come from City of Los Angelitos Homeland Security Department.

Deaton has had health problems the last couple years, but information was that these were related to a prostate condition, not to his heart.
Can only hope he is able to return as soon as possible.
