New Sheriff in Town

Last night this old, dead Republican Mayor had his first chance to hear the new General Manager of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerement, Dr. Carol Baker Tharp. What a major upgrade on the previous GM and now "CHIEF FORESTER" Lisa Sarno, if you will.

Its too soon to pass judgment on Dr. Tharp one way or another but it was refreshing to hear her take personal accountability for mis-steps by the department and her pledge to make things right and get the department on a smooth management footing.

The Sister City gives a cheer to Dr. Carol Baker Tharp - a rare gem amongst the floatsam of LA bureaucrats.

a rare 'gem' amongst 'floatsam' ??

talk about mixing metaphors, badly.

first of all, its flotsam.
and secondly flotsam floats on the surface of water, and we all know that gems are rocks, that sink, dummy. so its physically impossible to have a gem amongst flotsam.

and it's no news that anyone could be better than Sarno.

Tharp is not new, and how the hell you get 'sheriff' out of neighborhood empowerment also is a head scratch.

how about some blog worthy threads.

Pelosi Has Started Phone Tally for Impeachment

House Speaker Pelosi's office is taking calls voting
for Impeachment of Cheney first, Bush second:

202-225-0100

I know you will awaken to a day full of demands large and small.

The amount of time dialing this number, and getting yourself counted
should be less than 60 seconds. But this is the 2,000 pound gorilla
that will rip the toothbrush right out of your mouth
and stick a phone there instead.

Patriots, each of you who have been wanting impeachment,
need to commit right now to ask at least 10 others to
call and ask each person to commit to asking 10 others
to call and so on. It needs to happen fast and NOW.
Let's blast the Speaker's office with demands for
impeachment of Cheney first, and Bush next.

Please make a call, and thanks so very much.

Matt Dowd says : real change starts at the federal level : immigration, Iraq, homeless, space program, etc etc
Stop talking about it, and start acting on it.
(for those who care)

oh, add medical marijuana to that list. that's a federal issue as well.
Prop 215 is only a state measure.

Martini Revolution is crap for the most part, short of anything good at Martini Republic only came from Joseph or Laura.

Despite that, it does seem a better home for Kiwi Fruit Dowd.

no, its me. I'm happy to take the rap.
but for an advocate of free speech, Mayor Sam seems to be on the back foot when someone dares question his thread's validity.

what are you going to do, shut down the blog????

I'm not afraid to put my name on it. but if you insist, its easy to become anonymous, just not my style.

leave the threads to ZD and other substantive contributors, if all you've got is Sarno and Tharp (yawn)

I see you're advertising for contributors, it all makes sense now.
but don't call us tho, we'll call you.

I don't know what Dowd's problem is but if he thinks its ridiculous for us to talk about city managers on a city politics blog then he really is a fruit.

check Zuma Dogg's threads - meaty, juicy critical topics that will affect everyone. Neighborhood empowerment..oh please.

Fires are rampant, LAPD in crisis, the Mayor has to cancel his o/s trip, public calls for transparency, all the ZD topics, Bratton reappointment, shadiness, charter schools, lAUSD elections, lawsuits.

Sometimes you introduce the silliest threads, and I'm calling you on it.
Thats all. Just take the criticism as a public comment. Ne need to become all defensive and try to justify it. Its almost like your trying to deflect the attention away from the real issues.

not the first time I've seen it.
possibly not the last either.

and as you can see, not one comment about DONE except from me.

if not for my attack, then possibly this thread would have zero comments.
so thank me later. I'm doing my best to make it all interesting.

(tips hat) time to hit the hammock, savvy?
