Tony Villar's Dumb Move
Zuma Dogg covered the story where our media mayor took the opportunity at a Spanish language media awards to bash local talkradio hosts, John and Ken, for their position on illegal immigration.This was probably the dumbest move of his career.
Not since Dan Quayle jumped all over "Murphy Brown" has a politician shamelessly used a media straw man to attempt to advance his own position.
Certainly, the Mayor has much larger issues to address than two guys on the radio. What the Mayor does know is 1) Draw more attention and greater listernship to the KFI program, 2) Inflame the hosts even more who will focus all firepower on him, 3) Once again divert the attention from the true issues facing the city.
Like the Academia Semillas del Pueblo crowd who think they have some kind of legal right to censor Doug McIntyre, the Mayor has drawn himself into a war he will surely lose.

John and Ken (as does Doug McIntyre, Kevin James, Al Rantel et al) point out the negative impacts of ILLEGAL immigration -- especially on LA -- a topic that the mainstream media and especially the mayor generally ignore. This does not make them "hate mongers" as AV alleges.

Most important, by standing up for KTTV reporter "TONITO VALDEZ", "HIS POLLONESS" Embraces the radical views of the MECHA LEFTISTS who are driving moderate Hispanics from local politics. Edward Roybal must be shaking his head in what has beome of the Hispanic political community he pioneer (When are they going to name a high school for Roybal???).

In all seriuosness though. Word on the streets is that many would ahve been for term limits if it had of been placed on the ballot on its own.
The sampling is overhwelming, without even asking them if they would have been for term limit extenisons having been presented to the voters differently.

Come on, give little Tony a break. His GPA was 1.8, not 1.4. Tony has been kicked out of nearly every school he has attended. Santa Teresita, Cathedral High, Roosevelt High and he was on academic probation throughout his entire UCLA career. And let us not forget, he failed the bar five times after his stellar career at the People's College of Law.
And for the record, Edward R. Roybal never endorsed Antonio for any of his political races. Too bad his daughter doesn't have the same integrity.

You can post all the info on shady Council was on jamming this "R" thing through, behind people's back (dropping it off at the last, un-ethical and possibly unconstitutional second). And Rocky Delgadillo reported to City Council (as seen on TV 35, and posted below on this MS blog), that:
Something this important should have be vetted publicly through the ethics commision and neighborhood councils.
Plus, it is "confusing to voters" to have a Charter mandated item, mingled with a local ordinance -- of two different issues.
(For example, what about the outrageous premis that someone MIGHT want to vote for ethics reform, but say no to extending Council's terms from two to three.)
Plus, a Judge said he didn't even see anything on how "R" puts ethics into lobby reform. (So they didn't even give us that, those sunsa bitches!)
And yes, Zuma Dogg would have been in favor of extending terms from two to three, if it were a separate item, for this reason:
People tend to overlook, even with the term extentions...They still have to get re-elected each time.
So if you have one Councilmember who stinks, you vote em out. However, sometimes you may have an outstanding Councilmember who is doing a bang-up job for their District...so why not let them roll with it. I would hate to squash that.
Now people will note that these shady incumbents have so much special interest money that they're nearly impossible to beat, unless you're Zuma Dogg, or something. (Duely noted, however conceptually...assuming there is a SHRED of democracy left in this town, I'm in favor.)
SO HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
The fact that they tried to blow a fastball (or curveball) past us by turing it in on the last second, without vetting it before Ethics and NC, "confusing wording", unconstitutional to mingle two separate (and confliting) items on one ballot measure, the judge agreed and added, "it doesn't put ethics reform into lobbying" and they are wasting City money fighting two court judgements against it already, and their own City Attorney told them, "It's confusing to voters. All we are asking is that you be 'honest' with the voters and DON'T HOLD ETHICS REFORM HOSTAGE to another agenda. (He used the word "hostage", y'all.)
And at the end of the day, if CC gets it's way...YOU PAY...for THEIR Health Benefits for the rest of their lives.
So when you happen to bump into your Councilmember anywhere, give them a vitamin or a shot of wheat grass juice, or something. NOW, we gotta keep them healthy, too...so it doesn't cost us now and later.

He's arranged for his close female friend to get paid under the table to blog positive comments on the net about his other good friend, LAAS GM Ed Boks. It seems that Boks's missteps provide the lady blogger now a big bucks payday. We wonder how she (and Bickhart) are going to put a positive spin on all of the negative press that Boks' has received for issuing a permit to paint Tai, the Indian elephant this past weekend.
