Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Thursday

Bitter Bernie is at it again. First he was censoring television shows, then he was fighting for football games on cable. Now, he wants to limit your rights to speak before the City Council. Where is the ACLU when you need them? More at Mayor Sam 2.

KABC's Doug McIntyre was teasing a new report on our favorite sepratist charter school, Academia Semillas Del Pueblo. Doug shared some of this information back a while ago. I can't tell you what its about, but if it's what I think it is, Marcos may be shaking in his bandana. Tune in tomorrow, 790 KABC, 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

A staffer for the Department of Building and Safety slipped and fell as she was about to sit down and speak before the Council Wednesday. Councilwoman Janice Hahn was heard to remark that "Someone was a little overzealous in waxing the floor," and state that this is not the first time this has happened. As the woman fell, 4th District Councilman Tom LeBong was quick to jump up and assist the woman gettting back on her feet.

The LA Weekly's David Zahniser has a good piece on the pablum our City Clowncil members try to spin in order to get some media coverage. The latest, calling their term extension proposal "reform." Best quote in the story: Former City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter who told her constituents to "run the other direction" from any proposal with the word "reform" in it.

Martini Republic makes the good point that the City's billion dollar housing bond on this November's ballot isn't getting much attention due to the rancor over the Council's term extension promposal, Measure M.

Mayor Sam 2 is carrying the Transit Coalition's weekly newsletter. This excellent report covers the latest in public transit policy and happenings. Hoody hoo to Bart Reed for providing this community service.

Mayor Villaraigosa will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for the La Maison Ardmore, a new 35-unit condominium project.

LA City Nerd reflects back to days when Angelenos didn't depend on the government for basic services. In the 1880s, local residents were required to sweep their portion of the street and light it as well.

Around the Blog-LA-Sphere, Franklin Avenue gives out a shout out to Zuma Dogg and exposes the mistake of a state road sign maker.

Random thought...why is it that Full Disclosure was pulled off LA Cityview for supposedly airing "contentious" material but they air a program hosted by former actress and openly gay politician Sheila Kuehl that deals with pro-gay issues. Some segments of our community may have an issue with a gay agenda (I don't, other that so called gay issues that are no different from other liberal causes) and they may consider such a program "contentious" or "inflammatory." I'm not against Zelda's show, but why can't they air Full Disclosure as well?

And finally...Council President Eric Garcetti is back from his two weeks in the Naval reserve and sporting a very short haircut following the experience. The clean cut look is good for him, and one wonders if perhaps he will inspire a trend and cause his supporters to "get clean for Eric?"

Bitter Bernie once again trying to control everything. He has the audacity to use the word "respect" in his statement. The Clowncil is the worst run meeting in the city. Garceitti has been a huge disappointment to many in the city as president. He can't control the circus around the horseshoe. This group has received more bad publicity in the last year then ever before and will continue. There's not one leader in the bunch and they all vote the same. They are all in fear of Antonio so they have lost their voice for the constituents.

Over at Mayor Sam's Sister City, local gadfly and chief City Council annoyer Zuma Dogg (above, meeting KTLA's Eric Spillman) has been added to the roster of contributors.

Zuma Dogg is definitely growing on me. Look past the hip-hop parody, and you'll notice the Dogg is well-versed in local politics. And hysterical. In one post, ZD notes that the City Council seems to be softening toward him as well: Councilman Bernard Parks even threw a compliment his way.

L.A. Councilman Tony Cardenas Is Fined $3,500 by Ethics Panel

From a Times Staff Writer
September 13, 2006

The city Ethics Commission unanimously agreed Tuesday to fine Los Angeles Councilman Tony Cardenas $3,500 for violating the city's campaign-finance laws by accepting seven contributions above the $500 limit.

The fine is equal to the amount of excess contributions found during a routine audit of Cardenas' 2001 primary campaign for the City Council.

The San Fernando Valley councilman agreed to pay the fine.

Cardenas lost to Wendy Greuel after a hard-fought campaign in 2002 to fill the vacancy created by the departure of longtime Councilman Joel Wachs. A former state assemblyman, Cardenas won another seat on the council the following year.

The seven excess contributions, totaling $1,000 each, came from the Official Police Garage Assn. of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Officers Assn., William M. Lasher, Gene A. Lucero, Funes Architecture and Architect Manuel Funes, ACS State & Local Solutions, and AMG & Associates.

Dude, better chill. You know how this stff always backfires.

Don't use the word "evidence" because that could become a real bad self-fulflling prophecy for you.

PLUS, you are extending the story's news cycle.

Here's the reason I brought it to the people's attention:

I think events like that one, should not, be putting in for "special fee waivers".

I know politicians have been shady for a very long time. And if you took the "fudge factor" out of politics, nothing could ever get done.I'm not trying to get people fined, or prosecuted, or have all events be commercial/sponsor free with 100% of everything going to charity.

But City Council cannot get away with it all like they used to.

a) The electronic media (TV 35, this blog, radio shows) will not let you get away with it.

b) The City is in too much of a financial and social crisis. The City can't afford the fat-cat "Champagne wishes and caviar dream" perks previously afforded to politicians and their supporters who help get things done. Those days may be gone, like many other "excessive behaviors" that have caught up and backfired on us.

So on this "Special Event Fee Waiver" -- feel free to keep raising the awareness that in the 14th District there was an advertised, heavily promoted "fundraising event" (where vending booths were rented-out for $800 a pop, plus a flyer just begging for "sponsorships" for this "highly attended event" of over 20,000 people. Where it has been said by someone in attendance that, admission was collected until they got caught.
And where special event fee waivers are ONLY for non-profit organizations used for public events in the interest of the community.

So I hope they didn't turn one in yet. And hope they don't. Because it happens all the time. And the money doesn't end up going to those of whom it is intended -- the non-profit groups within these communities, themselves.

READ THE WHOLE STORY "Special Event Fee Waiver..." from Sunday --plus, the companion story where "Jack Weiss expresses concern over abuse of the waivers.

Since you complain about "no evidence" should I start using my favors with my legal backup team and have them start pulling public record requests? They are doing it for free for me. I wanted to save the favors for some bigger things, but maybe this IS that big thing because I haven't seen this kind of buzz/panic/reaction on anything I've posted yet.

The streets BELONG to us, why should the city be charging EXTRA TAXES for use to use them AS a community.

WHY ARE ALL THE CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERTARIANS screaming about the fact that the DEMS AND LIBERALS who run the city decide from time to time to RELAX some of the TAXES (disguised as fees), in order to benefit a community.

SUPREME CYNICISM:WILL L.A. CITY COUNCIL GET AWAY WITH ITS SHAMELESS ATTACK ON HONESTY?

CHALK up a victory for the Los Angeles City Council: The 2nd District Court of Appeal has ruled that although council members did all they could to make the wording of Measure R as ambiguous and unhelpful as possible, they didn't technically break the law.
And so, even though Measure R is designed to confuse, it gets to stay on the November ballot - treacherous language and all.

Way to go.

If voters knew what Measure R was all about - extending council members' time in office from two terms to three - they would strike it down overwhelmingly. Council members know this, which is why they've tried to disguise the measure with all sorts of political tricks.

One of those tricks: The council amended the ballot's questionable language from saying that Measure R "lengthened" council members' terms to noting only that it "changed" them.

Get it? That way, careless voters might not recognize Measure R as the assault on term limits that it is.

The first judge to look at the measure found this deception so offensive that he ordered the original language restored. But the city appealed, and the appellate court has ruled that although vague, the wording isn't illegal.

The council's description could have been "more complete, and thus more informative," the court observed, "by noting the measure increased the number of terms a council member could serve from two to three."

But, the judges added, "To comply with the election statutes, the ballot title need not be the `most accurate,' `most comprehensive,' or `fairest"' possible."

Nope, according to the court, anything short of an outright lie is apparently good enough.

Of course, the same class of people - self-serving politicians - write these laws, exploit them and interpret them, which may explain why the public is losing faith in government.

Fortunately, the people still have a say at the ballot box and can repudiate the cynical and deceitful games played by the council.

COUNCIL UNDERCOVER?
A trio of Los Angeles city councilmen returned from their three-week recess sporting copious amounts of facial hair.
The formerly clean-shaven Alex Padilla, Tony Cardenas and Ed Reyes showed up for the Tuesday council meeting with a beard, goatee and mustache, respectively.

Given the beating the council took pre-break from residents and employees angry about A) its shameless term-limit legislation; B) the new rules of decorum for the public; C) imposing a contract on the Engineers and Architects Association, one might wonder whether the facial hair is an attempt at disguise......If that's true, then what message is council President Eric Garcetti sending with his new military-short 'do? ..........

SHAME on them for handling their grievances through proper governmental channels.

WHAT if everyone did that, you know like instead of running weeks of disinformation on the radio, "Borg" had gone to LAUSD board and complained about the charter school there, instead of inciting nut cases to phone in BOMB THREATS on 8-YEAR-OLDS.

DAMN those proper channels. Spouting ignorance on the radio is SO much more fun than being responsible citizens, and SO much better for ratings (although KABC is still low-end of the native American totem pole in L.A. morning talk), so apparently no THAT much better.

THIS WAS THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD IN ALL MY LIFE...PEOPLE READING..You think I am kidding...it is true. So I ade the loop (3 times) of HER eact/unedited words to demonstarte if Zuma said, "F*ck" -- then Wnedy said, "C*nt".

Besides that, I have indeed pushed the limits of annoyance, because I am fighting for mine (and others) income uncostitutioally stolen by City COncil...so you thinkn I give a F*ck if I embarrassed them.

However, the City has rallied behind me...spend countless hours bringing me new information-- and alll city council members can tell you ...although I'm still the most annoying human being ever to saunter through chmabers...the "crazy scraming and all that, is yesterday's news...I've moved on, toned down the scraming....so the message can be better heard...I proved my point with the theatrics, but only a fool doesn't evolve....I have risen to the occasion and so has my effectivness and you see there is no end in site...sorry innefective bitches...The ZD phenomenon keeps snowballing...more and moe people are hammering me with emails and phone calls with more and more problems with council -- and i have less and less of a life, but it's worth it...because I have never felt more blessed and satifyed by all the new people I have met from all over the 15 districts who have trusted me with their life stories/confidentiality and taught me so much and allow me to continue to evolve and become more effective.

Am I gonna sing a protest song, when appropriate...or still talk too loud during my OWN comment time...HELL YEAH....City Council is still shady and unethical as hell....But even moron can see how i have evolved and toned down the things that are disruptive to others, as a way of honoring all the time people are spending with me coaching me/informing me on all the issues that I have a knack, if anything, for taking all their complex, boring ass info, and being able to spit it back in a one minute public comment speech that people can understand and get the point across.

So thanks for making my day again, because I can see I must be a real thorn and you must be feeling my effectivness on TV 35, the radio....and now Mayor Sam (THAT'S what's pissing you off). And your anger is that motivates me to continue.

Sorry ineffective communicators, which is why you are stuck where you are....frustrated and unable to do anything meaniful, besides diverting funds from the people and comunitites who elected you,

Zuma Dogg
Better than you at your own game, and it isn't even my game at all.

FYI:

Any and all post I make are under "zuma dogg" -- I have NEVER posted anonymously -- so if you see something posted and it doesn't say "zuma dogg said" -- I can assure everyone -- it is someone elese. Typos...sorry...this keyboard is sticky....I think you should discount the message cause of the typos and it takes City Council and The Mayor off the hook for accountability.

AND I DISAGREE THAT I HAVE EVER CROSSED THE LINE...AND YOU KNOW WHO ELSE DISAGREES == THE CAPTIAN OF CITY HALL POLICE. The only people who ever got in trouble for my actions are the City Hall Police, themselves -- and some of them are at my mercy as we speak to not have them removed from Council Chambers duty --- and they go down in pay!!! But ZD ain't trying to have peole make less money -- so I worked with their boss on the problems THEY were having --- Captain/Their boss agreed with ZD -- and I said, "let's see if I notice change in their attitude before I get them removed from their post" -- I HAVE SEEN A CHANGE, and hopefully, it's all behind us.

BUT IF ANONE HAS EVER BEEN MORE WRONG ABOUT ANYTHING, IT'S THE PERSON WHO SAYS I CROSSED THE LINE - N E V E R....Just walked up to it...cause that's hat lines are for....especially when you're dealing with corrupt politicians operating on the line of ethcial behavior...FAR MORE DAMAGNG TO THE COMMUNITY you crybabies.

Mayor Sam is with the times. Every newspaper is reporting the stories he is allowing to be posted. I think the paranoid clowncil members staffers are trying damage control but its too late.

Dogg don't validate yourself to the morons posting. When you do that you make them feel important. The best thing to do is ignore them. Keep speaking out, tone it down and we still support you.

Public comment is not designed for self promotion, promotion of websites, radio shows of campaigns (in fact MORON it is ILLEGAL to campaign in City Hall).

Did anyone else notice that a few days ago under the post about what people are fighting for this week, that someone actually sent a link for us to follow the money for "Fujioka", who is a paid employee of City Hall by the way, not an elected but they really sent us Furutani's money trail?

What retards you all are.

Why would anyone care if Villaraigosa's staffers gave money to another Dem candidate for a state election?

RE: "The fact the POLICE have to get involved because of YOUR ACTIONS means you have already crossed the line."

Fred Sandford said it best...

YOU BIG DUMMIE!!! The whole point I made, obviousy over your head...is that the police were un-informed and getting involved hen they shouldn't and making mistakes every time I set foot in City Hall.

That's why THEIR boss, time and time again, sided with ZD...and THEY are the ones on thin ice...not me!

But, like I said, hopefully, it's all in the past. I understand City Hall police have never had to deal with an annoyance like me...However, the fact that I did all that I did...and THEY are the ones who had a talking to (and I heard a complete Brown Act Adobe presentation) means I'm obvioulsy ALOT more knowlegeable of what the lines are, and in completer control to where I have NEVER been arrested at City Hall , or any other time in my life. (Twice, I've had the cops remove me or my outburts...but it was all on cue and completley strategic.)

And to the crybaby who said their time was cut short, too, because of me. First of all, the clock is back at 2 minutes WHERE IT WILL STAY! And, secondly, it's wasn't becasue of me...How does attempting to quiet my loud voice (has there ever been any other issue regaring my disturbing behavior) mean you cut the clock back to one minute???

So let's face it, they tried to cut the clock back to one minute...not becasue I made too much noise (beacuse all they have to do is warn me, then cut me off based on the "code of conduct") but because of my content. And I make NO apology for that.

And since all of y'all are so focused on ME, instead of the important issues of the City...I'm gonna post a BIG ASS STORY on Mayor Sam, right now...saying all the sh*t your bosses don't want me to say. Y'all wannabees need a bith slap...so here it comes.

Only YOU can prevent forest fires, I mean additional mayor sam story posts when I was gonna take the day off...

HEY CITY HALL BOSSES...CAN'T YOU KEEP YOUR EMPLOYEES OFF MAYOR SAM AND ON CITY BUISNESS...

Zuma Dogg
Now, with one more story to post!

Whoa, sorry, spoke too soon, make that over 2000 words.

P.S. If you don't want to get in trouble with Wendy G., try remembering what your first grade teacher (the last one to advance you to the next grade based on merit), told you: E-NUN-CI-ATE your words.

For the record, David Elliott AKA "Zuma Dogg" has never voted in a local election according to the Los Angeles County Registrar. In fact, Elliott has never even registered to vote in the state of California. If "Zuma Dogg" cares so much about democracy, why has he never bothered to exercise his democratic right in this city? Clearly, Zuma Dogg cares far more about self-promotion than local issues.

(for anyone who hasn't received their official Z-Dogg Spaced-Cadet Decoder and Typo-Correcter Ring in the mail yet (keep eating your Scooby Snacks to get the box tops), let me translate a short portion from one of the previous messages. . .

"And since all of y'all [all of you-all, a fake southern-ism, with built in redundance] are so focused on ME [I hope, I hope, I hope], instead of the important issues of the City [which I couldn't find with both hands and pre-programmed GPS]...I'm gonna post a BIG ASS STORY [aka, a story written by a BIG ASS, namely ZD] on Mayor Sam, [Mayor Sam'S} right now [i.e., I'm going to forward another anonymous rumor e-mailed by some future opponent of a councilmember up for election next term] ...saying all the sh*t [shit, shite, merde, ca ca, doodie] your bosses don't want me to say [because it probably isn't true and they'll just have to waste more valuable city time explaining to the nitwits that would believe anything ZD says, how it's not].

Y'all wannabees [want-to-bes, i.e., those also aspiring to appear as ignorant gadflies] need a bith slap [I'll get back to you on this one, after some checking. . . apparently a slap from a "bith" (possibly a slang term for a female dog with a lisp), but don't quote me on that] ...so here it comes.

(AND WHY THE HELL IS YOUR KEYBOARD "STICKY"?? Ewwwww.

You type messages to the dead mayor's blog on the same keyboard you do THAT with???

Double-ewwwww (everyone Windex your screens, RIGHT away).

[Official notice: Not one cent of taxpayer money was spent in creating this post, nor was any governmental computer equipment -- sticky or otherwise -- used to create it -- I swear on Mayor Sam's exhumed grave! One animal was harmed in the process, but the bee-otch had it coming.]
