Local Politics Go To Seed

There are 87 other cities besides Los Angeles in Los Angeles County and each of them have their own fun versions of local politics. Agoura Hills is the 83rd such city in the county. Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, its beautiful territory, but Mayberry politics take root.

George Christopher Thomas is a former staffer for Congressman Brad Sherman who has tossed his hat into the ring for the Agoura Hills City Council. He sent out the following press release recently, in which he describes his innovative campaign techniques and refers to the city as being akin to a "truck stop" (wonder what the locals in Agoura Hills think of that)?

Anyway, here is tonight's late night reading pleasure:

THOMAS SOWING “SEEDS OF CHANGE” ON CAMPAIGN TRAIL

AGOURA HILLS, CA – George Christopher Thomas, a successful small businessman and former congressional staffer, announced today his campaign will be handing out FREE packets of seeds as part of the “Beautification Plan for Agoura Hills.”

While walking precincts to meet the people of Agoura Hills as part of his campaign, Thomas is distributing FREE packets of various types of seeds. The “seeds of change” are intended to be a reminder to voters not only to vote for George Christopher Thomas for City Council, but when elected, Thomas will make the beautification of Agoura Hills a top priority.

“Our city needs to clean up its sidewalks and medians. When you compare our city to Westlake Village, Calabasas or Malibu, we look like a truck stop. As for the beautification of Agoura Hills, I think we are lagging far behind the cities around us. While our neighboring cities have become more aesthetically pleasing, Agoura Hills has let the weeds grow,” said Thomas.

“I am handing out “seeds of change” along the campaign trail. As part of the “Beautification Plan for Agoura Hills,” my campaign has been circulating and giving out FREE packets of seeds. There are a large variety of seeds we are handing out, including; Aster-Crego seeds, Alyssum seeds, Bachelor Button seeds, Black-Eyed Susan seeds, Blue Flax seeds, Calendula seeds, Candytuft seeds, Catchfly seeds, Clarkia seeds, Cockscomb seeds, Coreopsis seeds, Cosmos seeds, Shasta Daisy seeds, Evening Primrose seeds, Forget-Me-Not seeds, Gypsophila Elegans seeds, Marigold seeds, Mexican Hat seeds, Scarlet Flax seeds, Stock seeds, Sunflower seeds, Sweet William seeds, Wallflower seeds, Yarrow seeds, and Zinnia-Lilliput seeds,” said Thomas.

If you have not yet been given a FREE packet of seeds, candidate Thomas assures you he will making his way around the entire city before election day. He also explains that voters can find out more about his campaign by visiting his newly launched interactive website – www.thomas2005.citymaker.com or www.thomas2005.com

George Christopher Thomas worked for the Federal Government for four years from 1997-2001, spending two years working on Capitol Hill for Rep. Brad Sherman. For the past four years Thomas has helped over 30,000 individuals start their new businesses at the Van Nuys Government Center. Thomas also hosted a political Radio Talk show on National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate KCLU 102.3FM in Thousand Oaks, as well as hosting a Cable Access TV talk show interviewing local politicians.
