The Enemy of My Enemy Is My Friend?
With Tony Villar facing opposition from both the right wing nut job flank as well as the socialist, Mexican nationalist crowd, where can Jim Hahn go now to get some much needed support?
Well, there's always the Masons, Illuminati and Opus Dei!
On another note, perhaps Tony Villar is planning a career in music after politics!

I'm not sure if Santayana originated this or kind of lifted it from Sun Tzu, but it has always been true.
Viz. Bernard Parks' affinity for Antonio and Hertzberg's as well.
I'd have bet a lot that Hugsberg would never have endorsed Antonio, but it looks like Huggy has bet his marriage on it. Good for him. That's a no lose situation if I ever saw one.
Looks like the Florida thing has no legs and has died down, as well it should. At least Antonio did the right thing, something that Hahn still cannot bring himself to do. Just give the money back, Jimmy. Kam and Carrick will waive fees for this month.
If the world seems like it has turned on Jimmy Hahn, well, it has.
He shold know that his fears are not paranoia; they are existential dread.
Going down big-time.

THANK YOU MAYOR SAM. This is an excellent example of how ADV lovers are running scared. The last time you and Parker posted 3 articles in 1 day proved to us you're all afraid. Media is printing the posts. Unfortunately they're printing the Anti-Antonio posts. Because of your desperation and immaturity you've also proven to them that if you have to go to such lengths to slam Hahn, ADV's campaign has nothing left in their bag of tricks to take the heat off ADV. Thanks again

When will Tony V. actually BEGIN his career in politics?
Oh, I don't mean running for office... I mean doing THE WORK.

anon 2:43pm the polls are showing ADV losing ground just like in 2001.
LA Times Commentary:...the piece focuses more on Antonio Villaraigosa and his anger. Rodriguez, a Times contributing editor and senior fellow at the New America Foundation, says that Villaraigosa's removal of a teenage tattoo reading "Born to Raise Hell" is a metaphor for his struggle to hide a volatile temper.
His volcanic reactions to Hahn's attacks are beginning to reveal what political insiders have known for years: The former Assembly speaker can be thin-skinned, easily angered and even vindictive. Although great politicians learn to distinguish between what is political and what is personal, Villaraigosa has not. He can try to hide this side of his personality, as he has erased his tattoo, but, so far, he can't make it go away.
Despite a double-digit lead in the polls, a slew of prominent endorsements and a formidable fundraising advantage, the councilman repeatedly lost his cool during four debates.
He visibly seethes, furrowing his brows and clenching his jaw. When he reminds voters that Hahn's administration is the most investigated in L.A. history, Villaraigosa comes across as the nastier of the two.

You failed to (scratch that... INTENTIONALLY didn't) mention that the Aztlan item is from the LAST mayoral campaign 4 years ago.
I'm sure all is forgiven now (but DO keep trying to paint your ACL-oooser of a endorsee as a "centrist" -- it SO very amusing).
(Next you'll be telling us Fidel Castro is actually a small government Libertarian!)

The Southern California Institute of Architecture's students, faculty and staff have been using a parcel of land adjacent to the school campus to park their cars free ever since the school moved to a gritty area of downtown Los Angeles from a nearby city along the coast about four years ago.
But earlier this year, that property sold -- along with two nearby parcels-- to Merco Group LLC, a firm set up by developer Richard Meruelo and Daniel Villanueva, according to Ken Jackson, director of sales at Dynamic Builders Inc., which sold the properties. Mr. Villanueva is chairman of a private-equity investment firm, Bastion Capital Fund L.P. Now, "No Trespassing" signs have been posted at the site.
"This is typically the way things work," Ms. Specht says. Developers "seek support from constituents in the community." Messrs. Meruelo and Villanueva couldn't be reached for comment.

Richard Meruelo just bought the land that was designated for the LAUSD high school. He is used to taking away property from under educational institutions.
SCI-ARC LOT
Richard Meruelo did not return calls seeking information about plans for a 15-acre Arts District plot he and developer Daniel Villanueva purchased for more than $12.5 million. The developers, operating under the name Merco Group LLC, are said to be considering building two towers of up to 50 stories each, with more than 300 units. They have not been granted building permits from the city. The property, which sits west of the Southern California Institute of Architecture, has become a battleground. SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss said that discussions about the property are being held, and he is hopeful a solution can be worked out

Mayor Sam, you finally got the crux of one argument correct. Yes, it is true vendido Tony does not have the support of the Mexican Nationalist crowd. Mainly, because these activist don't make apologies for being Mexican, like Tony. Tony becomes a Mexican only when it suits his personal amibitions, not when it benefits the Mexican community at large. This hypocrisy is why Tony has not endeared himself to this crowd. And don't insult them by calling them socialist, any self respecting Mexican Nationalist wouldn't use european terms to identify themselves. Communal concepts existed in Anahuac long before the birth of european theorists. Yes, Hahn will be the last white Mayor of L.A. and Tony, if he wins, will be the first and last vendido elected.

A poll conducted by Zogby International released on June 12, 2002 showed that 58 percent of Mexicans in Mexico believed that the American Southwest rightfully belongs to them and 57 percent believed that they do not require U.S. permission to enter this country. Although most Mexican migrants come to the United States to find work and have no political agenda, many may unknowingly vote for candidates who support separatism. For example, Latinos in Los Angeles voted 4 to 1 for Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California State Assembly, when he ran for mayor in Los Angeles. As previously noted, Villaraigosa had served as chairman of the local chapter of the radical MEChA organization when he was a student at UCLA

One Reason to Vote for Mayor Hahn: Villaraigosa’s Opposition to Gang Injunctions as Head of the ACLU
Filed under: State and Local Politics — So Cal Lawyer@ 9:24 pm
The Daily Breeze has this report on barbs traded over Hahn’s stance in support of anti-gang injunctions and Villaraigosa’s historical efforts to block them:
Hahn said the Blythe Street injunction — which was ultimately upheld in court — helped the neighborhood reduce graffiti and bring down violent crime. And he argued that the area would not have had a resurgence if the injunction had been blocked.
“What if the ACLU had won? What if we weren’t successful in beating Antonio Villaraigosa and the ACLU and the gang members?” Hahn said, adding: “How many people would have been victims of crimes like rape, assault, even murder?”
Villaraigosa dismissed Hahn’s comments, saying the mayor is on the attack because he failed to fulfill a 2001 campaign promise to hire 1,000 police officers. Three months ago, Villaraigosa won passage of a proposal that he co-authored to add roughly 280 officers to the LAPD.
Asked specifically about the Blythe Street injunction, the councilman said he had supported such measures “where they make sense.”
“Very clearly, some of those gang injunctions back then were too broad,” he said. “They weren’t appropriate legally. Now they’re much more specific.”

Mayor Sam said:
The real story for the journalists is the amount of time spent by Hahn operatives in posting crap on the boards here. We do have legitimate posters who argue back and forth (say Sac Nighties and MEAT) and discuss and debate, but we it looks like we might have the Hahn ops research team cutting and pasting stuff from other blogs over and over again.
Like any newspaper, we'll reserve the right to edit this blog if stuff gets out of control and makes it hard for our real readers to browse the site.
And anything that brings in innocent parties, data and stuff that could be used to hurt innocent parties will be deleted.

Maniac Murelo was NOT giving money to CD1 or CD13 candidates JUST ADV for mayor.
Needs ADV to grease the skids as mayor, regardless of district.
Stop being so NAIVE (or partisan).

Why don't you anti-Antonio's give it a little rest?
The ranting is getting so repetitive and so vehement that it is a turnoff.
Any normal person reading this blog would be offended by the yelling (yes, yelling - that is when you use all capital letters and is considered ill mannered in cyber circles)and the printing of long, irrelevant agendae and documents.
If you guys are happy doing this, just keep it up but you are convincing no one.
Instead, if you really believe all the tripe you lay out, why don't you go somewhere where people will listen to you and knock on doors and walk precincts for Hahn?
Better yet, why don't you get some signatures for Eliseo, who has until May 7 to get the signatures or be very embarrassed. His embarrassment will become your embarrassment, so go help him out.
Most of us are interested in the inside baseball esoterica of the campaign. We like to analyze events and happenings. We don't want to hear ten minute rants about some imagined theft of property or conspiracy to rip off CD 14, or some dumb dog park or museum.
Most of us, except for you ranting CD 14ers, are adults. We can have differences of opinion and deal with them and still respect the other.
I know it is hard to beleive, but that is the way I feel and I know others that blog here and with whom I disagree on lots of issues. That doesn't require a twenty minute rant.
OK, I've been too long here trying to make a single point: just chill out and state the case once. We all can read and are not stupid.
Anonymous said:
How can you say that all of the Hahn supporters here are vehement ranters, but not admit that so are Villaraigosa's?
Don't you think that you will always be annoyed by the supporters of the candidate that you don't support? Just as they are annoyed by you? Gooshh, whaddya think. frickin idiot. (Napoleon Dynamite for you staffers who never leave City Hall)
Some of us are Hahn supporters who are knocking on doors. We're not stupid either.
Just disappointed that Mayor Sam or Chief Parker are not really 4th floor employees. Surely we can't have employees there who can't spell masturbate.
Mayor Sam said:
Anon 9:26 p.m. right on. The cutting and pasting that the Hahn staff is doing on here does get old. Kudos to you for supporting your candidate through action.
I suppose that is what the Tony Villar people are doing cause there sure are nowhere near as many of those on here as we have the Hahn cutting and pasting crew.
