Shaken Not Stirred
Back to the game show we call Mayoral Election 2005 in a moment, but now its time for more fun with the retro oh so yesterday Martini Republic.
Like any alcoholic in denial, after the Chief referred them to AA, they started their "I know you are but what am I" taunt, assuming everyone on the Sister City is a bit inebriated. Of course, we don't worship gin, but that's another story.
It all started because Joseph couldn't find any debate news on the Sister City prior to his 8:30 a.m. cocktail. That led us to review some of the drivel on their site.
Of course, their main claim to fame was to complain about Bob Hertzberg's randomly appearing ads on a blog they didn't like, that of conservative Roger Simon. Showing true class, Hertzberg actually responded when it wasn't even necessary. Its not like Al Franken was taking him to task for Christ's sake.
On their site, they defend a university professor who compared the victims of 9/11 to Nazis. Now the university wants to fire that professor. Good move. Now if he said that he didn't like George Bush or John Kerry - that's no reason to fire him. But, this is different. Who needs that kind of crap in the classroom on the public dime?
What this blog seems to do best is discuss drinking. When they stray into politics, it really is worse than re-hashed LA Weekly crap. What have they contributed to the Mayoral election this year? Not much. And they want to be a player.
Several of the Sister City residents have asked us to remove our link to them. I don't think that's necessary, but we'll let you vote. Cast your vote for leaving the Republic in our blogroll or replacing them with Roger L. Simon. It could be fun!

Hey look I hear ya, but why aren't you linking with www.schadelmann.com ?
He's an insider who hates Hahn and hasn't comitted to any candidate yet, and the Martini Republic weenies have attacked him for not being "liberal enough" on his blog.
He's a good guy and he likes y'all - even did a piece on Blogs of LA and spotlighted your sight. As lefties go he's ok - he's prone to Republicanism at times, which is nice. Check out how he goes after John Kerry these days.

If you don't defend the free speech of dipshits you disagree with, then you don't defend it all.
Martini Republic seems to understand that, even if you immature blokes don't.
