As for your endorsement of Parks, it shows just how much brain damage you must have incurred so far. Did you watch the same debate everyone else in the city watched? Parks had the charisma of a peanut on your bartop, and hasn't said anything new that he hasn't already said 15 times before. As you will soon see, our commenters will be more than happy to point out his fallacies to you over and over again. ( I know comments are a rare thing on your site, so we will host a few here for you)

Speaking of dead blog space -- LAVoice yesterday pointed out that: "The much-vaunted pro-Villaraigosa Blog City Hall appears to be languishing - one (interesting) post in the past two weeks (Feb. 1) - hardly the buzzing hive of 4th-floor gossip we'd hoped for."

Hey what was wrong with Parks last night? He looked totally (I'm not being funny or racist) but spooked. His eyes were wide opened to the max. He didn't look well at all. Seems he's lost too much weight. We must remember that 1,000 officers left when he was Chief. Officers are working more on 3-12 not the lie he's putting out there. Officers have said there will be another mass exodus if he tries to get rid of it. His answers were pathetic and he just doesn't have it. He looked like a scared goat. Talk about corruption, he covered up Rampart and knows all to well about corruption.

I have a simple question that boggles my mind -- If Jim Hahn whose is the mayor, and he has the power to hire and fire GM's and the Chief of police, and he's the one to get credit bad or good regarding their performance, then why? Why does Hahn get the credit for a drop in crime due to bratton, and not Parks who sits on the Public Safety Committee, yet Hahn doesn't get any of the blame for the transportation GM's failure to collect $20 million (according to dum-dums on this blog, it was Antonio's fault since he sits on the Transportation committee). So Parks gets no credit, and Antonio gets all blame. Interesting how the Mayor easily get his dum-dums to believe this bile. In my honest opinion, the mayor does get some credit for crime rates going down and some blame for losing the transportation funding, but he doesn't get all of it.
As for last nights debate -- I think Hertzberg, Alarcon and Parks saw the LA Times poll and figured they haveto start hitting home runs -- Finally -- i've been advocating this for awhile. Take shots at Hahn - bring his numbers down down down. Antonio doesn't need to use the big stick quite yet, why use it when you have others finally charging full steam ahead. With the best favorables of all the candidates why ruin a good thing. I personally think Alarcon does better than the 3% the LA Times had him at, but better meaning like he gets 6% at the end of the day.

MEAT, as for who gets credit and blame for what passes through committees, step back to high school civics class and take a harder look at the meaning of "checks and balances." Committees don't CREATE what the departments do -- so they don't get credit for the "good." One of the most critical tasks, however, is to monitor their activity and make sure things don't go horribly wrong. On Transportation, Villaraigosa didn't, EOS.
ADV is holding back, because his handlers have convinced him he'll be one of two in a runoff, just like the same handlers convinced him he'd become mayor in 2001.
MEAT's right on this. With the other three candidates bashing Hahn, it makes sense to glide this one out. There are going to be a couple other televised debates where more people will be watching and he can hit him then.
Parks and Hertzberg were particularly good last night and should see their numbers climb. Contrary to a previous blogger, Parks was well composed and, to a target universe of voters, was very appealing. Hahn missed an opportunity to directly go at him about the exodus of officers under his stint as chief.
GLIDE, ADV. . . glide right on back to that small chair on the horseshoe. Leave the BIG office to someone who's bags aren't already packed for somewhere else.
Boy is MEAT way off target on this one. Parks getting credit for what? Just because he sits on Public Safety Committee? That asshole made us lose 1,000 officers MEAT. He's telling lies about the 3-12 schedule and is the last one to talk about corruption. Parks and your boss ADV are the biggest abusers of special event waivers throwing our tax dollars to special interest corp. holding events in the city. That idiot Parks has been sitting on a CLA report to streamline and save money on those special event waivers for over a year in his Budget & Finance Committee. WHY? Why hasn't it been pushed through to council for a full vote to implement it? As for ADV he FAILED TO COLLECT $20 MILLION AS CHAIR OF TRANSPORTAION. ITS NOT LIKE HE HAS ANYTHING ELSE TO DO. HE DOESN'T DO A DAMN THINK IN HIS DISTRICT. IS ALWAYS EITHER OUT OF TOWN OR OUT OF DISTRICT. DOES ANYONE NEED ANYMORE REASONS TO GET RID OF HIS BUTT?

the martini republic people scream at anyone who doesn't think like they do. they save their biggest attacks for people they agree with, though. and they think hahn is a great guy for allowing war protests. whatever.

Yes, we suck and we know it and we're featherweights, etc. But I had no idea Li'l Chief Parker was so sensitive; I would have never singed his hair with my 12-watt blow-dryer if I had known.
Yeah, sure, gotta love those anti-war (or should I say "pro-truth" now?) protests. But if you think anyone at MR is voting for Hahn, you're not reading. And I don't blame you, because we suck and we know it, etc.
