Key to the Hahn defense are signed statements from Dominick Rubalcava, Judy Johnson, Frank Villaneda and Gerard Orozco.
Here's the rub. Look at the names above. We all know Rubalcava and his histories with the Hahn camp. I personally don't know much about either Judy Johnson or Frank Villaneda, so they didn't catch my attention either. That leaves Gerard Orozco.
Does the name sound familiar? Let me give you a clue...fundraisers...Hahn...Pacheco...DWP...Fleishman-Hillard...his wife...
BINGO!!! You hit the jackpot. Hillary Norton Orozco.
Here's a clip dating back to December 9, 2004 in the Daily News:
"As for the accusations involving Pacheco, Fleishman regional President Richard Kline said he didn't believe that the fund-raiser -- which he acknowledged was organized for Pacheco by Hillary Norton Orozco -- was ever charged to the DWP. Orozco is a one-time aide to former Councilmen Richard Alatorre and Mark Ridley-Thomas. She has declined comment. "We did do some work on a political fund-raiser on behalf of a commercial client and that was improperly billed to the DWP," said Fleishman-Hillard's Kline. "However, it was caught and the DWP was not billed for that work."

Ok Chief sounds like MEAT is doing some spinning and your work for you. Unfair since you already posted an article on this last week. Why don't you add that Hertzberg worked for Fleishman and we're still waiting to find out if he worked on DWP client. Antonio took money from Fleishman as well and we're waiting for the other shoe on that one to drop. Sounds like Antonio is very desperate and trying to find anything to throw out there.

I just love how the timing played out. Gaines goes public. Kuwata issues profanities. Rubalcava goes underground. Ducks are lined up. Orozco signs an affidavit. Rubalcava surfaces.

Given the scrutiny Hahn is under, you shouldn't let any of your commissioners come within a mile of a fundraiser, especially one in a public place where press or others are present. This shows he's either arrogant or an idiot. Neither is a leadership quality.
On what grounds do you think their marriage is of convenience? Do you even know them? I bet you $100 that you don't even know one of them professionally let alone personally.
And why is it that what Fred (a major HERTZBERG supporter) says happened is legit and without prejudice but when the Hahn supporters do the same, they are slammed for it.
As someone who knows all the parties involved and was in fact at the Dining Car on the day of question-not at the breakfast though-I know the truth so I can certainly have a laugh at all of you, but you really should talk your sources (on all sides of the coin) with a grain of salt.

Gerard and Hillary have been happily married for years and have two lovely children. This is hardly a 'marriage of convenience'.
Additionally, Gerard has been a friend of Rocky's for years and is not a 'johnny come lately' as some of you seem to imply.
It is one thing to have some facts. It is another to impune their motive for marriage, imply wrongdoing and otherwise make suggestive and inappropriate statements about two people just trying to do their job.

The real story here has nothing to do with Gerard, Hillary or Rocky (btw, Hillary is a smoking hot MILF. If theirs is a marriage of convenience, can I be next??). The big story is how is it that a wet-behind-the-ears, panties in a bunch reporter gets to publish a story alleging fundraising impropriety without any proof whatsoever! No invitaion, no direct solicitation, nothing. Hmmmmm something smells disturbingly like a yellow rag... could it be the LA Times, perhaps?

How you guys can just write anything as if it is true is amazing. "By all accounts," 4nic8 (interesting handle by the way), is really just one account, that of Fred Gaines. Mayor Sam, let's have a new rule: If you are going to accuse somebody of something you have to do it under your own REAL name. That will stop all the bs! Those Hahn folks love splitting hairs. Like last night Hahn was asked whether he’d give back the banned special interest money he took. He tells everyone that when he took the money BEFORE it wasn't banned, so technically he doesn't have to give it back. Now his aides are on here saying that Gaines "exaggerated" Dominick's presence and role at the fundraiser.
For God's sake, why even show your face at a fundraiser? The fact that we're talking about it is proof enough they're stupid. LA Times just reported it so don't go killin' the messenger.
This entire post and comments were total crap. Chief Parker posts a link to an old article in which F-H states that no improper billing occurred in a fundraiser years ago. Chief Parker then uses a "walks like a duck" argument to suggest that last week's fundraiser, organized by the husband of Hillary Orozco--who did nothing wrong when she threw the Pacheco event--was improper in some way, with no evidence or support to back it up. If that's your reporting standard, you should apply for a job at the Times or the Daily Journal, since they bought the story hand-fed to them by Gaines just as much as you did.
Then someone like 4nic8 comes along and says that all parties involved are feeding at the public trough. And he goes on to say that the Pacheco event is proof of this, EVEN THOUGH in this very post from Chief Parker we have a statement saying that nothing improper happened. In the absence of other evidence, one can only conclude that Mr. 4ni8 simply cannot read. He, too, should apply for a job with the Times.
This story will come back to bite the Times and Daily News, and the Hertzberg campaign. Serious allegations were made based on nothing but a coincidence, and one where the non-sinister explanation--that the parties involved ran into each other at the Dining Car--is much easier to believe than the sinister explanation, which would require one to believe that all involved were total idiots. If the Mayor and a Commissioner happend to "run into" each other during a fundraising breakfast at a Taco Bell in Sylmar, yeah, I'd be suspicious too. But at the Dining Car? Use your brains people!
Chief Parker, 4nic8 and all the members of the 4th estate who covered this story should be ashamed of themselves.
