Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday

When the Clowncil does something good we have to give them credit.  They've rejected a DWP request to increase water rates telling the utility they weren't buying the pitch.  A spokesman for Council President Eric Garcetti said that following the DWP's last attempt to bamboozle on rate increases their credibility is still pretty low.  DWP can come back in a month and try again.

The LA Weekly's Jill Stewart takes apart AJ Duffy, the controversial and often lampooned head of LA's teachers union.  In addition to calling Duffy a pipsqueak Jill notes that he's lying that the ACLU did not include the union in succesful efforts to end the LAUSD's "last hired first fired" policy.

Wonder why you can buy books, songs or even a car online but not a city dog license? The tortured path to online licensing is detailed in a Daily News piece.

Franklin Avenue reports that a Fox News Channel morning show was fooled by a Weekly World News fake story that the LAPD was buying jet packs for officers.  Might not be a bad way for the cops to get around LA traffic though.

LA gadfly Zuma Dogg makes his first City Hall public comment appearance for the first time in several months.  We'll let those of you who were there offer up reviews of the performance.

Didn't John Kerry (remember him) derail his campaign with something similar? It's hilarious to see these politically correct liberal elitists shooting themselves in the foot when they let down their guard.

Whitman may have damaged herself over being so utterly unprepared for Housekeeper-gate, but at least she didn't display Jerry and Kerry's gutter instincts. No, Meg left it to the rest of us to call Nicky Diaz a whore, and worse.

There is no way around this for the left. Because everyone knows that if Jerry were a Republican and Meg a Democrat and he called her whore the liberals would be screaming bloody murder. However their hypocrisy (which doesn't matter if they think the Republicans or Tea Party are hypocrites because we're talking about the left's behavior right now) in being strangely silent on the matter or even going as far to justify Jerry's remarks is more than obvious.

This also takes Jerry from offense to playing defense, overshadowing the Nicky affair, which is not what you want in the last few minutes of the game.

Whitman doesn't even really need to say much, the media will do it for her.

Jerry has always shot his mouth off. He's as big a gaffe machine as Joe Biden.

Well, well, well, if it isn't zuma dogg. The man who posted a VICIOUS and UNNECESSARY rant about Higby just a few weeks ago.

The fact that you're crawling back to make nice is a sign that your needy, begging, and stupidity are often off-sync. You're a dirtbag for suggesting that it's bi-polar or poverty or nutrition.

Higby has ALWAYS been cool to you, and you can't handle the fact that he has open discussion here.

You used to be something Zuma and you've sunk into being someone who isn't self-sufficient and you refuse to hold a job that you feelis beneath you.

Trutanich was in no way going to hire you BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE EDUCATION you need to work as an investigator or attorney.

You rail against Trutanich because you didn't get the "PAY FOR PLAY" that you attack others over. Pay for Play works for people who get along, but not for ne'erdoewellers who refuse to work like the rest of the world. Fuck you.

ZD, what are you proud of?

Coming to city hall ONCE in 2010?

You really think highly of yourself, don't ya?

While you've been crying and saying that people need to support you instead of paying and working your own way, the city hall regulars didn't miss a beat.

Lord love the Mister LOSER!

Maybe that is why he can't get a job. Oh, I forgot, he isn't looking for a job. He wants to do a job he's not qualified for.

Never mind

i am dropping healthcare coverage because we are getting 40% increases in our premiums. i can't even hire the three people I wanted to hire in 2010.

this isn't working. we need a change in leadership, despite the silly, uninformed punditry here.

that's what is really happening out here in the business world.

we also moved just outside of the l.a. city limits to offset the ridiculous city business tax.

Michael,

The left is strangely silent? This is a non-issue - these are the big boys playing here, do you have any idea what goes on in the back rooms. I'll tell you, describing Meg as a whore is small potatoes to what she is really being called. Likewise, moonbeam isn't the only word used for Brown on the Whitman campaign behind closed doors.

It is not illegal to call someone a whore - especially if they fit the description. This is hardball politics - grow up. It's not as if Brown were driving a HumVee - that hypocritical stuff is for Republicans.

855, it is not illegal to, in the same way that what whitman did wasn't illegal either.

but it sure is different when the accusation is coming at your candidate rather than from.

it just shows what disrespect brown has for women who disagree or oppose him.

I am still a fan of zuma, but he's not what he used to be. It was cool to see him in city hall, but in order to be relevant any more, he needs to be there on a regular basis.

Zuma doesn't need profanity, his gimmick is funny enuf as it is. But he really needs to get off of the begging kick.

Talking about Zuma is definitely much more fun than talking about the compulsive gambler and perennial last place candidate who admitted that he does NOT live in cd4.

M.S. BLOGGING UPDATE

Phil removed from his blog his admission that he lives in cd5, not cd4, but that he is going to move into cd4 (maybe hairy & hirsute Diggie Coochie's place)to sandbag and refile.

Funny how Phil rails against Alarcon for essentially the same thing, and pontificates that he is against such things, but he simultaneously does the same deal.

ZD probably COULD have functioned as an investigator in Tru's office, but being a loose cannon prohibited that.

Can you imagine the lawsuits of his "investigating" a case?

This is a sad instance of someone having all the SKILLS and DETERMINATION in the world, but the inability to behave like an adult.

I too think he used to be a hero, but ironically, the thing that made him entertaining is the same thing that prevented him from getting hired even in a junior capacity. I don't work in the C.A.'s office, but we work very closely with them.

Ultimately, ZD will pick himself up by the bootstraps, but it'll require a lot of growing up. He is completely capable, though. Some day.

I want to know where are all the Female women groups on this "whore" thing? Where are those loud mouth feminists like Gloria Allred. To use such a foul word shows what Brown really thinks about women as a whole. Can someone tell me who is paying the $280,000 for the bike nerds to ride a 7 mile route tomorrow for fun and cause havoc on our streets. How many LAPD Officers have to work this bullshit event as a blogger in Hollywood is posting. Why isn't there outrage over this crap shutting down major streets from 10a-3pm. What a bunch of pussies the bike guys are. They hate the mayor and Huizar but there they'll be riding next to them kissing their asses and being used like a bunch of fools.

I agree with almost everything here about zuma dogg. Highly entertaining, very annoying with the begging, and all the potential on the planet, but no common sense to properly harness it.

Zuma can be anything he wants to be. He just needs to figure out how to go and make it happen for himself. It won't happen doing karaoke or talking about David Arquette and Adam Sandler. I don't personally believe he was a "top radio executive" but that doesn't matter. He needs to drop the past and take advantage of the relationships he built in the city. I have lots of confidence in him. He's smart, but just plays dumb. Believe it. He's no idiot.

The funniest part about zuma's manufactured crises each month when the EBT food stamp allotment each month runs out is that carefully worded fake suicide, like "I am really deep in it today. I MAY jump. I MIGHT jump. But you know he'll never do it. REAL SUICIDAL people stop asking for help long before they do it. It is abhorrent for him to play upon suicide to get money.

Too bad that his butt-buddy Bill Rosendahl doesn't recognize it. But he's the same councilman who lets the filthy homeless poop on venice residential streets. Just the opinion of one, but may be many others to.

The left are crying their eyes out over WhoreGate, and you're absolutely right Higby, Moonbeam is another foot in the mouth Joe Bidden.

What's interesting is the silence of the left. Leftie blog GPW hasn't posted anything, perhaps wishing that if they don't mention it, it will go away, and Celeste Freemon's trying to spin it into "Jerry Brown was a hero" because he would not call the bitch a whore.

Either way, Jerry's looking real bad with the feminists right now, and middle of the road voters are really turned of by "salty" language.

What goes around ...

I've been on the blog for about 9 months now and I can't figure out why z.d. thinks that he exposed the housing and pension crises. I always assumed that with the timing and all, he was parroting things he reads online and in the wall street journal.

It's very funny and entertaining to hear him, but I doubt that a man who is home less really uncovered these scandals. I'm glad he speaks about them tho.

1134, are you ALWAYS a moron, or just sometimes?

Biden didn't win the vice presidency. Please don't say this at a dinner party. You'll be laughed out of the room.

Obama won the presidency, and Palin cost McCain the presidency. Biden didn't win anything. In fact, if you don't care to remember, he lost his chance at winning much of anything for being outed as a PLAGIARIST.

What sealed the deal for him to be Obama's buffoon is his telling a paraplegic state senator in Missouri to "Stand up and let us have a look at ya!" Then, when he realized what he did, Biden said, "What am I talking about???? Everybody stand up for Chuck. God love ya!"

Biden won the vice presidency? Yeah, right. Try it at a dinner party.

How is it that nut cases can't recognize that they in fact are the ones who are nuts?
