Creation of a "Connected Non-Profit" and the "Pimping" of Public Facilities, Part One
Many activists throughout the city are up in arms over the role of "connected non-profits" in the body politics.
While most private non-profits operate in an positive ethical manner and do good in the communities they serve, there are a "connected few" that are created for benefiting the friends, cronies and the political desires of the local politicos, can one remember Fabian Nunez's favorite, "A Collective SPACE" ??
Above is one of many e-mails that are making the rounds that chronicle the outright giveaway of public property to the latest "connected non-profit", Legacy LA.
In reading the above e-mail, one can see the corporation between Jenny Krusoe and the office of Councilman Jose Huizar as they "push" to get entry to facility.
One would of not want to have been Recreation and Park's Gary Baer as he attempts to state that there were other worthwhile organizations that wanted a chance to tour the facility and give proposals on possible use, while not knowing that Krusoe had the backing of both Mayor Villaraigosa and Councilman Huizar.
.....and in the days ahead more on the creation of the newest "connected non-profit" and the consequences on the community and ethics in City Hall.
Your thoughts.

Legacy LA doesn't seem to exist as a business entity by itself. It is a "project" of Community Partners, a 501(c)3 that is extremely well-connected with CD 14 and the Mayor. Their last 990 shows roughly $13 mill in assets and the Legacy LA web site boasts a letter from Tony V.
Smells to me like Antonio and his illigitimate son pushed this on Rec and Parks. These corrupt politicians shove crap down the throats of City departments all the time. If the pet project doesn't work out, they make the GM of the department the scapegoat. How nice is that? Total d-cks.

If that is the case, who is friends with who in this?

Politically connected "non-profits" funded by taxpayers are the only "industry" that's growing in L.A.
I posted an item the other day on my blog (WalterMooreSays.com) about Villaraigosna handing $3.7 million or to various "non-profits" for "programs" to keep kids out of gangs. I'm sure they'll work out great.
Good job, Red Spot. I wish the "real" newspapers would cover these scams.

Jenny Krusoe, in order to increase the already massive brown nose she has from kissing the ass of Villaraigosa and Huizer, lent her name to the notoriously FAKE "Southwest Society."
Her name was listed on the "team" that was supposed to tirelessly raise money for converting the Southwest Museum to something else so the Autry Museum (another non-profit) can take the Southwest's collection for itself.
Word is, she has never attended a single meeting of the "Southwest Society". She just lent her name to the Mayor and Huizar for a press conference to announce the "Southwest Society" and then, perhaps in appreciation, CD-14 let Kruesoe seize control of the Armory over the objection many community groups.
Hey, how many times does the Mayor and Jose Huizar have to tell you people: They know what's best for the City. Do not confuse the issue with the facts or a superior proposal. They need those campaign contributions for their next run for office.
In the meantime, the crack team of the "Southwest Society", led by Jose Huizar, in 17 months has not announced it has raised any money.
Oh well.

When you say "crack team," do you mean . . .

This item is old news... literally. It's been on the blog before and doesn't brinng anything new to the discussion.
Come on, Red Spot. Bring up some new dirt instead of recycling it.

why isn't the Ethics Commission investigating all the non profits Antonio's staffers are already on? Isn't that a conflict of interest because they use his name to get funding which is unfair to the rest of the non profits.
Can city staffers be on the boards of non profits? Does anyone know?

Wait to i tell you about the park Huizar is shoving down Rec and Parks now. It just so happens to be right in front of Huizar's mom's house. See how much funding he send that way and how uch he forces others to put in. i hear he even wants to name it after himself.

Huizar's wife (the real one not Francie)is Pregnant! Again!! I guess he is only laziest councilmember when he is at City Hall because he is stacking up more kids than all of them together.
I wonder when Francine will get her first?

No, he is racking up more kids than the Coachman from Pinochio

Big whoop about nothing, Red Snot.
Who else is going to raise the funds for kids in this area??
Not Scott Johnson and his merry band of idiots. That guy is just looking for $$ for himself, since he doesn't have a real job.
Plus all his cronies sold themselves to others a long time ago.
Nice try red spot.

What the hell is going in CD14? Damn if this happen on the westside we wouldnt stand for it. Why do these damn ass people let themselves be taking advantage by their Councilmen? Who the hell does this guy think he is? Let Jack Wiess stand as a example of what we do to councilmen that don't listen to thier voters. CD14 wake up and take notice. Recall him, Vote him out, do something or stop your crying.
