Separated at Birth ??

"Councilman Potato Head"
Rebuffing concerns about widespread irregularities in the 5th Council District election, county Registrar Dean Logan said he's concluded that problems were limited to only a handful of voters.
The five-page letter released Friday said extensive inquiries had resolved all issues raised by David Vahedi, the neighborhood council leader who trails former Assemblyman Paul Koretz by about 700 votes as the final ballots are tallied.
Looking like "Landslide Koretz" will become "Councilman Potato Head Koretz".
Your thoughts...........

Nothing like "catching" some flak from a Catcher.

BTW, I thought being compare to Mr. Potato Head was a good thing.

Alot better than being called an "political insider".

While in office the Bloated former California Assemblyman Koretz introduced a resolution while in office to impeach Bush and Cheney. This is the kind of "deep thinking" and avoidance of the issues that he was elected to address that has helped to bring California to the brink of economic disaster. Expect more of the same when he joins the "Clowncil". He will work to devise higher taxes and more regulations to chase business and jobs out of the city, the same way he and his former "comrades" have done to the former Golden State.

Vahedi might have had my vote if he didn't so openly pander to the nasty clique of control-freak homeowners who also fueled Trutanich's nasty, venge-filled campaign. Lord help us of that bunch had gotten to pull the strings of our next councilman. Vahedi openly promised them that chance, remember.

Plus Vahedi made a lot of sound-good promises that he never would have been able to keep. At least an experienced pol knows what he can and can't deliver. True, that claim didn't work so well for Hillary, because lots of people LIKE feel-good over reality. So we got Obama with his trillions in bailouts to the banks and good legislation regarding credit card companies, but no more money left for California schools and infrastructure. So the jury is still out.

Looks like Koretz is going to be this blog's new Jack Weiss except making fun of his "bloated" head too. Two threads about him already this morning and he hasn't even taken office yet.

1:31 that's not a bad idea and as John Phillips asked with Weiss gone from the Clowncil who will become the most hated CM?

Of course I assume Weiss isn't going too far so we still get to play with him.

Have a good day.

However Ron Kaye may have been right. I hope Vahedi's attorneys look into the funny business around Koretz's election. And should Potatohead be seated that Vahedi come back in four years.

Michael Higby, who are you??? Why is it that you have so much animosity toward Koretz? And, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with this anger you seem to have toward a man I'll bet you don't even know; a man who has the courage to put himself out there to help a lot of people? Its just baffling... Why do you make everything so personal? It just defeats any "argument" you are trying to make.

2:22 you ask who I am but you come on my blog and post anonymously? Speaks to your character you coward.

I have no personal animosity towards Paul Koretz but I did not support him as he is yet another hack politician, who has moved from one elected office to another, and is symptomatic of the problem with our current process.

Vahedi is probably way too liberal for me however he was someone who came up from the neighborhood, is not a professional politician and for a while at least would be sensitive to the needs of the people.

Hopefully we'll uncover the election irregularities and perhaps Vahedi will ultimately win.

Higby, losing elections is never fun, but it happens.

In order for an election to be overturned, you have to prove that but for" the error, the other candidate would have won. That is VERY hard to do and in this case, not enough votes (roughly 100-200) would have been affected to overturn Koretz' 750+ vote lead.

This is democracy. It is not perfect, but it is better than the alternatives (such as some residence associations that don't hold elections or only allow homeowners to vote, but not renters).

Wow, Red Spot called Paul Koretz Mr. Potato Head. At least you got him back good. He won the election and gets the seat, but you got to call him Mr. Potato Head. Feel better?

But Higby:

How many times as Vahedi run for office? Just because he doesn't win, doesn't mean he's not a political hack.

And why has Vahedi changed his name each time he's ran for office? That isn't the kind of person with the integrity that I prefer in my politicians.

Speaking of CD 5,

Anyone interested in reading the Century City/Westfield Settlement involving Mike Everloff and Westwood Homoners Association?

If so, holla. Maybe I can let you read it during dinner at a fancy and expensive restaurant of my choice that you are buying?

As a resident of the 5th CD, I can tell you that Vahedi blew this race big time. What a horrible campaign! The mail was pure shit. No message. Just constantly mailing a list of names of people no average voter has ever heard of. The best he could come up with was a few mailers with bad pics of Koretz. Newsflash: all pics of Koretz were bad--even the "good" ones his own campaign used. The ridiculous headshot of Vahedi staring off into space made him look just like another politician. He had the easiest contrast to make and he blew it. Koretz ran a solid, but very unremarkable campaign. Typical Skelton boilerplate effort with the endorsement mailers, Zev et al. Koretz got lucky. Now we have another machine putz in office. Someone serious should begin mounting their campaign today and it shouldn't be Vahedi.

I guarantee you, anyone who runs for office and wins, and holds that office for at least a term will also be called a "hack", a "pol", etc. The funny thing is though that we need all the institutional knowledge we can get. Being in office for a few terms is not the worst thing in the world!

What is Kevin's excuse for getting beat by a homeless clown? He should give his advertising money back?

Big Joe, I actually thought the Mr. Potato head looks more like you than Koretz. How could you even decide to go there? Is that what you have been reduced to?? Piping up on issues to call people Mr. Potoato Head? What a leader.

The real question is why did just these two come out on top? There were six running and a couple of the others would have been better but we've got some name-changing guy who only lists names and names and names of homeowner association old people as why we should elect him, and then this guy who turned West Hollywood into the densest city in the west.

None of the big names who considered the job ran because of the anti-incumbent sentiment and the sheer viciousness the HOA types backing Vahedi show anyone who doesn't do anything they want.

An undistinguished choice for what will probably be 12 years but the lesser of two evils.

Also he doesn't have time to sit and 'click' on his won blog 24/7.
