Mayor Villaraigosa has out-fundraised his closest rival 10–1 — and refuses to debate — but he needs more more more money. From Antonio:
Tomorrow, February 14, marks an important fundraising deadline. It's a chance for our campaign to publicly show, for every Angeleno to see, that we have the momentum to continue the changes we've made in the last four years. I need your help to make that statement.

He can't use the money for personal stuff but I think he can for a run as Governor. Those who want him out of town might think that's a plus. All I can say is anyone but Newsome even Brown is better than that. But with Feinstein running anyone else will have a rough time of it. If she wins she and Brown will both be almost 80 by the time the first term is up so wouldn't Tony be better off running then? I think he can keep raising money til then but I'm not sure.
If Walter doesn't win will he save his money and hats four more years?

Mayor Villaraigosa has no shame.
He never did and he never will.
Asking for more money to defeat opponents he has outraised by over 10 to 1.
That is the type of financial responsibility you can expect for the next four years.

He could receive $700,000 in matching funds if he weren't too chicken to debate me.
That's the only string attached to matching funds: you must debate everyone else who has qualified for matching funds.
In this case, that means debating one, and only one opponent, namely me, Walter Moore.
Don't chicken out, Mayor Villaraigosa. Step into the ring and debate like a man! Or are you afraid to defend your record?
Walter, I'm sure he doesn't want to debate you because it would confer on you the only city-wide recognition you'd ever be likely to get. Even Lopez said your chances of name recognition barring that are less than nil.
However I'd personally like to see a debate, and inarticulate as he is, he would be coached enough to explain how dumb your Jamiel's Law is and how it would subject all of us to capricious and random police interrogations about our citizenship (to avoid profiling lawsuits from ACLU, MALDEF and a host of other groups).
What other issues do you have, Walter? Since no one at City Hall can stand you, do you think you'd have a chance of getting any of your crackpot ideas approved? You have to be able to forge alliances to get anything done. And your supporters on Daily News comments and elsewhere are a scary bunch of racist rabble who make you look a lot worse than you may be yourself.
What about your work for billboard companies? Cough it up.
I'm no fan of Villaraigosa, who I think is an empty suit. I really wish there were serious candidates in this race opposing him. But there aren't. Sorry, Walter Moore, but you're not a serious candidate. Schoolyard taunts about being "chicken" or "being a man" only make the point. He's not debating you because he doesn't want or need to dignify you as a serious candidate. Like it or not, it's a very defensible position.
You and Zuma Dogg and the rest are fighting for the anti-Villaraigosa protest vote. In total it will run into -- perhaps well into -- the double digits. But Villaraigosa will win. And if we're lucky, mercifully, you will go away.
I'll be in the protest voite category, voting for "anyone but Antonio. Not sure who will get my vote. It won't be you... I'm leaning right now toward Zuma Dogg for maximum "Fuck You Antonio" effect. But none of these votes will be "for" you or the other fringe candidates. They'll be against Antonio.
The mayor's race is preordained, whether we like it or not, by the lack of serious challengers.
So the real challenge here is to vote down the rest of the Villaraigosa slate:
Vote "No" on Measure B.
Vote for Nick Patsaouras or any other candidate in the controller's race EXCEPT for Villaraigosa puppet Wendy Greuel.
Vote for Trutanich or any other candidate in the city attorney's race EXCEPT for Villaraigose puppet Jack Weiss.
Send a message to the empty suit that even in re-election, he has no mandate and no support....
Tony is a campaign fund glutton.
Tony will not debate because everything his says is vulnerable to deserved criticism and it might open up more topics that could not help his side.
Tony is a bad candidate who has lots of money to use in foooling voters. Information from him is completely controlled or it doesn't happen.
If Tony had any character....well, he wouldn't be Tony, would he?
Complain about the challengers as "not serious" but what kind of administration do we have with a Mayor who's more familiar with airports than City Hall?
Tony need money to tell people "night is day and day is night" for his constituency, except for the ones who have been riding his coat tails for paydays.
In eagle rock- where Tony's already sent-via spokesman Velasquesz- his "schedule conflict" message in response to Thursday's candidate forum. Much more polite than saying "I don't do forums, debates or anything I can't control as the solo act."
I see Villar has even gotten KIM THOMPSON to go turncoat. She now works for the mayors office.
AV will be easily re-elected because we let him have it. We had plenty of time to find serious candidates, but couldn't find a single one.
If AV breaks all records and gets elected by amounts that are usually only seen by third world strongmen, it still means that all the others will get double digit vote totals. But what that means is that they got votes from people who didn't like AV, and closed their eyes and picked someone.
ZD and WM have no name ID. They have made no effort to build grassroots support or find donors. More than anything, it's because they have nothing to offer.

Too bad Joe Biden or McCain or Hillary couldn't say "I have participated in a numher of forums with the other candidates" at any time in the election, considering that they're OLDER THAN DIRT and had debated everyone BUT LINCOLN by the time that election ran it's course, but still had to OMG debate them again.
