Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday

Sunday night at 11:30 p.m. KNBC News will run a special report on a Los Angeles Unified School District library renovation program called "Wonders of Reading." KNBC will say that there was a "breakdown in LAUSD oversight" that led to "often unaccountable spending, with a written acknowledgment by the District that it makes no effort to track the work and expenditures of subcontractors on such projects; loss of half of the contract bid documents for the existing 170-plus WOR projects and alleged intimidation of contractors."

The Society of Professional Journalists’ are hosting a panel on the disappearance of the city’s local newspapers entitled "Imagine a City Without a Newspaper." Of course, showing they don't get it, the panel is made up of former local fishwrap of record reporters, Zev and a gasbag journo professor from the University of Spoiled Children. Not one blogger; heck not even pseudo-bloggers such as the paperweight winning Westside White Guy, on the panel. Imagine a City Without a Newspaper? Indeed, and the sooner the better. I am sure at one point someone held a panel about 66 million years ago called "Imagine a World Without Dinosaurs."

The Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley has come out with endorsments for the March 3rd elections and no surprise they've endorsed the terror troika of Antonio Villaraigosa for Mayor, Jack Weiss for City Controller Attorney (thanks to the spinner who caught this typo but still could not make the case why any of these three should be elected) and Wendy Greuel for City Controller. Surprising however that DPSFV did not endorse school board candidate and Villaraigosa puppet Nury Martinez, who some wonder if she is even running a campaign at all.

Residents in the NoHo Arts District are fighting to keep a crosswalk; at least some a previously closed crossing in Westwood is back and available for use. Streetsblog found a crosswalk at Glendon and Weyburn that had posted no-crossing signs and called LADOT. They figured out it was a screw-up and soon the crosswalk was in use again.

"Jack Weiss for City Controller and Wendy Greuel for City Controller"

In your rush to attack people Higby, sometimes you don't even try to get your facts straight.

Jack Weiss is running for City Attorney. Now hurry up and fix it.

Zuma, here is some campaign fodder for you from today's L.A. Times:

"The lawsuit -- filed against hotel owner Ruben Islas and his Amerland Group development firm, Logan Property Management, the city and the CRA -- alleged that the defendants "systematically and intentionally worked to remove the long-term tenants of the Alexandria and replace them with non-elderly, non-disabled and non-African American tenants."

Ruben islas is a close and obnoxious friend of Antonio - Antonio pushed for him to get this contract. Just look into how many events this corporation sponsored for Antonio and how many perks were sent his way.

While he was kicking people out of this hotel Islas was funding the failed "Zorro" at the Montalban Theatre - which is now a Nike store - witht he Mayor's blessing.

David "Zuma Dogg" Saltsburg:"Not only do I not support Measure B, if I have one message to get across to voters this election season, it is please vote "No" on Measure B. The measure was rushed onto the ballot without much discussion or input. It will drive up the cost of DWP rates. I think just about everyone in the city would agree that solar energy is good. But this is an extremely risky plan that reports say may cost at least double the initial proposed cost. It's a blank check for an aggressive plan that DWP is not ready to take on. But the worst part is that it is not really about creating a strategic solar plan for the city. There was no competitive bid for the program. . . . So what I think this is about isn't about solar, but helping the mayor secure his reelection by putting this deal together that is too expensive, too risky, noncompetitive, will drive up DWP rates, takes the solar industry out of private hands and requires blank-check spending."

Zuma has a ghost writer.

With is thrid grade education. he is incapable of writing three cogent sentences in a row without spelling, grammatical and factual errors, let alone capital letters and exclamation points.

But for once he is on the right side of an issue.

The citizens of Los Angeles deserve a REAL lawyer running the City Attorney's Office.....Mr. Trutanich has my vote. I am tired of politics as usual in the City of LA!!!

Jack Weiss does not have the skills

Vote for Carmen Trutanich for City Attorney

Your guy Trutanich is not a prosecutor, and hasn't been one for decades.

Michael Amerian is the only guy running for city attorney who actually works AS A CITY ATTORNEY.

Imagine that! Someone in office who knows what to do.

Michael Amerian for City Attorney.
