Carmen Trutanich Releases New TV Commercial

City Attorney candidate Carmen Trutanich has released a new television commerical that has some really great production values and is far more effective than some of the Jack Weiss ads.

Here's Weiss' Walter Mondaleesque spot:

We all remember Mondale right?

Jack Weiss is the Yugo of city politicians -- he's goes nowhere and does nothing. The Yugo is gone now. Hopefully so will Weiss.

It's pathetic that Weiss has his own colleagues not supporting him. Laura Chick called him out on his misrepresentation of his "work" on the rape kit issue.

Jack Weiss's work on the rape kits was documented on a whole show about it back on 9/20/02 on Kitte Felde's "This Week in L.A.", KPCC.

I just came across it surfing their site for something else. There were numerous updates over the years on how he formed a task force with LAPD (ask Greig Smith, who's a member) to implement the recommendations. If colleagues were too short-sighted to approve the money, that's not the first time on an important issue, but their denying it does bother me. Zine is in a class by himself and that's not a compliment.

Too bad Laura Chick had to do an expensive "audit" rehashing the broad aspects of what was laid out in detail, without either knowing what she should have for 7 years, or choosing not to give credit, because she likes to "claim" women's health issues.

Trutanich standing next to a graffiti wall in his suit is about as relevant as me doing it -- he's had nothing to do with the city's crime-fighting ever, is a total unknown to Chief Bratton and LAPD, and his brief stint in the DA's office was almost 30 years ago, which he has to admit in his YouTubes but won't in his ads and flyers.

Instead he makes laughable claims about dodging Crips bullits, worse than Hillary's sniper fire that she can at least laugh about. But this guy has no self-deprecating humor, or he's see the absurdity of an NRA-defending lawyer denying that, while the City Attorney has to defend the city's gun laws -- that Weiss helped write, while Trutanich sues cities over gun laws.

He calls himself an environmental lawyer, while really defending polluters, helping them avoid steep fines for dumping toxic waste and such -- Weiss has worked FOR the environment from day one and as a prosecutor.

Those cases defending polluters FROM environmental protections and working for the NRA are among the main bread-and- butter of his small San Pedro firm.

Not only do all of Nuch's endorsements come from conservative Republican groups mostly outside the city of L A thanks to his sponsor Cooley (talk about being beholden) but his work has actually been diametrically opposed to the duties of a City Attorney.

He also likes to hide what the Times' David Zahniser reminded readers of last week: he's Rocky's lawyer and spokesman.

Look, I don't have a dog in this race but this Nuch's campaign is a negative-based deceptive stinker.

Jack Weiss did nothing but talk on the rape kit issue until the LA Times article.

If you have experts on law enforcement like Dennis Zine, Sheriff Baca and Steve Cooley saying vote for anyone but Jack Weiss it demonstrates what an unmitigated disaster it will be to elect Jack Weiss.

If Jack Weiss believes what he says in his own ad, he needs some serious mental health attention.

It's like somebody wrote something out without knowing him and said, "Just read this, and act serious."

Being IN the U.S. Atty's. office is not like really going to court every day as a deputy city attorney or dep. D.A, or a P.D. He might list what he actually did there- it wasn't much AND it wasn't recent, up to Y2K, wasn't it?

If he said, "I was asleep at the switch and now I will do better. I will start to pay attention to constituents and not act snotty when approaced at City Hall by people other than lobbyists, and I will stop hiding from meetings, leaving early and ducking questions anymore," then I might consider he's on the verge of being sincere.

Other than that, the only court he needs to be in is the Superior Court on San Fernando Road in Cypress Park for mental health issues, his own.

Bye, Jack.

Note how Nuch doesn't say how many years ago his crime-fighting stint occurred: almost 30, when he and Cooley were just starting out.

Before he went to a law firm where as a partner their main clients include the NRA -- the City Attorney will have to defend gun laws, which Weiss helped write, while Nuch has sued cities on behalf of the NRA as a specialty.

And on behalf of polluting companies who need help getting out of stiff fines for dumping toxic waste and such. Yet he calls himself an "environmental attorney," which tells me about a fundamental lack of honesty and embarrassment of his real record. Like how he won't tell us that he's Rocky's lawyer and spokesman.

No one ever heard of him til he came out of the blue for this job, so it especially bothers me to see someone who's campaign is either all negative or based on lies and turning the facts upside down. Talk about ego -- he must think that because Cooley urged him to run so he'd have someone beholden to him at city level, that he can get away with anything. Very few will pay attention to his ads and those who do have a negative view.

It comes down to the TRU fact...
JACK-ASS-WEISS is hated by almost everyone in Los Angeles Govt. We all know his record as an ineffective councilmember. We all have seen that he does not care about this city and if you believe that he will be any different because Pickle Face Billy Bratton puts on a suit and tie and makes a commercial for Weiss saying he is the best you have to take another gulp of the Kool-Aid.

CARMEN TRUTANICH is the answer for a positive change. Too bad there are not more caring people that wish to make a change for the better and put an end to the SUPER CLOWNS of L.A. City Govt.

VOTE YES FOR CARMEN TRUTANICH

Now kids.

Such snipping back and forth from the two campaigns. And meanwhile, the rest of us are thinking, "Weiss sucks, Nuch sucks."

This is another nose-holder. Peee-eww.

Why? Well, thanks for asking! Let's review:

Jack Weiss's accomplishments are:

--Beating Tom Hayden, a washed-up 60s radical, Sacramento pol.

--Hiring Adeena Bleich.

--Getting a portion of his district so upset, he faced a recall.

--Fudging crime stats.

--And kissing Antonio's ass.

Trutanich's accomplishments:

--Defending USC football players accused of all kinds of bad things.

--Being Rocky's spokeshole.

--Acquiring the nickname, "Nuch."

--Going by said nickname.

--Being, in general, a humorless, rather clueless oaf.

So the real issue here is not which candidate is worse. They both are terrible, thank you very much.

The real issue is why does LA produce such terrible choices? Why is there no one good on the ballot? Why do voters continue to fall for this crap? Why does Antonio not have a challenger?

And yes: where is the outrage?

Guess Who's Coming to Breakfast?

OC Pastor Rick Warren was the main speaker at today's Mayor's Breakfast in Downtown LA The 36th Annual Los Angeles Mayor's Breakfast was held this morning downtown at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The key speaker was none other than Orange County Pastor Rick Warren, who "spoke about influence, affluence and peace," according to the OC Register. Warren, who heads the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, made national headlines when President Barack Obama selected him to deliver the invocation at his January 20th inauguration. After very publicly declaring his love for gay people while denouncing their right to marry and supporting California's Prop 8, Obama supporters feared his inclusion in the historic ceremony would scar the President's pre-Oval Office rep as a man of true change.

I'm not voting for Villaraigosa or Weiss now.

I have followed this race for the past year and the time is near for the city to get a REAL lawyer as City Attorney. Carmen Trutanich will get the job done right.

REAL JUDGES, LAWYERS, AND CONCERNED CITIZENS know who Carmen Trutanich is and how he is what the City Attorney's office needs.

Vote for Trutanich

You do have a choice. Michael Amerian is the only one in the race who works in the city attorney's office RIGHT NOW.

Neither of the other two know about misdemeanors and the high volume of cases the city attorney handles.

Michael Amerian for City Attorney

Trutanich is a criminal defense lawyer, not a crime-fighter.

If you want a real crime fighter, you've got one and only one option on March 3: David Berger. He's a criminal prosecutor, not a criminal defense lawyer.

Amerian wasted our money prosecuting Britney Spears for driving with an out-of-state driver's license -- and he lost. He's a fine young man, but lacks the experience needed for this job.

Did I mention I'm backing David Berger?

We need more coverage on the campaign race in CD1 with Jesse Rosas running against Ed Reyes.

Ed Reyes should not be allowed to run for a 3rd term. And, with all of the gang crime in his area and all the shootings and killings in his area like the Sheriff Deputy that got killed, he does not deserve a 3rd term.

Where is ZD's commercial?

With Saltsburg as Mayor and Matt as his City Attorney, we'd be able to get tee shirts and incense in Venice again.

Seems to me, that's the major issue in these campaigns.

Anybody disagree?

Walter:

The case against that bimbo Spears was handled exactly according to office policy. If she lives in California, she should have a California license.

If you moved to Arizona, wouldn't you get an Arizona license after you got there? If you didn't, you'd be prosecuted the exact same way Spears was.

Celebrities are not above the law.

Now please go to the Mayor Sam debate!!
