Bill Rosendahl's Tom LaBonge Moment
"What high school did you go to?"
-Tom LaBonge
It's bad enough that the Council holds that regular one, two, three hour dog and pony shows to present proclamations and get lots of stage time while taking that time away from the people's business.
What's worse is when Council members do something to actually interrupt Council business for nonsense that is none of our business.
During an important policy discussion last week Council Member Bill Rosendahl interrupted the discussion to introduce a group of his high school classmates who were visiting from back east. Rosendahl had the guests stand with him at his spot on the horseshoe while he regaled his fellow members with stories of their high school antics, including noting that the couple visiting him had been high school sweethearts.
While it's great that Bill Rosendahl has maintained relationships with folks for 50 years is great; but its not a proper use of the Council's time. Particularly when the Council rarely shows respect or attention to citizens who travel many miles to speak on critical subjects.
Bill should know better. This isn't student government.

Plus some of those classmates made him look really old, so it was kind of brave of him to drag them out. When I'm around classmates who haven't aged well I hide them so they don't reflect badly on me. Plus they're likely to be boring. Poor Bill was only embarrassed when one of them suggested a Catholic- school prayer -- you never know what your classmates will say is anotehr reason to hide them right away.
