Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday

The Mormon Church continues to be a lightning rod for those protesting Tuesday's passage of Proposition 8 which ends the rights of same-sex couples to marry.  Following a protest of 3000 estimated outside Mormon church headquarters here in Los Angeles, on Friday protestors are planning to demonstrate outside the church's mother ship in Salt Lake City.  The Mormons were one of the major contributors to the Yes on 8 cause, however over a million dollars was also contributed by the Catholic all-male fraternal organization, The Knights of Columbus as well as funding by a number of other Protestant and Jewish organizations.

Council President Eric Garcetti tells FoxNews that he will be assisting the Obama Administration to identify Angelenos for key posts in Washington, D.C. Is there a cabinet post for the button down Garcetti who jumped aboard the Obama ship early? He isn't saying but we're hearing yes.

Zuma Dogg continues in his campaign for Mayor and like any good politican he's seeking contributions.  The Doggman reports he's all signed up with the City Ethics Commission and you can donate to the cause via PayPal or the old school way; check it all out at Zuma's site.

The local former fishwraps of record don't move many papers these days but the election of Barack Obama was a temporary boon to La Antonia Times.  The OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STREET (boy how many nasty nicknames for The LA Times can you shoehorn into one hotsheet blurb?) printed nearly a 100,000 extra sheets trumpeting the Illinois Senator's historic victory.

And finally if you ever wondered what ever happened to former Van Nuys gadfly and illegal immigration opponent Hal Netkin, he's resurfaced in John McCain's home state where he's running his virtual operation at a safe distance from Los Angeles.  Netkin has blasted out an email missive to recently announced Council District 7 candidate Guillermo Huesca seeking the Council hopeful's views on a number of issues.

Damn, are we going to get stuck with the gang banger Mayor? Walter sorry but unless you have the $$$$$ you don't have a chance against this corrupt idiot.
People need to e-mail Obama's people and let them know how the hell can an idiot like Villaraigosa give advice on Economics when Los Angeles is in the worst deficit $400 million since he took office???

Obama's press conference -- which will take place tomorrow at 2:30 P.M. ET -- is likely to be a media zoo, both because it will offer clues to Obama's first moves on the economy and because it's his first presser as President-Elect.

I really don't think the Mormons are to blame for the outcome of Prop 8. I think people just aren't ready to make gay marriage accepted in our society. End of story.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/05/palin-didnt-know-africa-i_n_141653.html

It's a segment that the fantic conservative bully has with Fox News' Chief Political Consultant who reports on information he has received from high level McCain campaign insiders about what really happened with Sarah Palin.

It all goes to the point that Higby has been trying to make about the dangers of engaging in hero worship ... a lesson that seemed to forget when writing about Palin.

This ties in with similar information that Newsweek has collected.

Palin didn't realize that Africa was a continent and not a country. She thought that South Africa was part of a country. She couldn't name the countries in North America.

That made me that maybe in order to run for president or VP you should be able to pass the same test that those seeking citizenship have to take, or any test that a 5th grader takes.

At the St. Paul convention, when 2 campaign aides came to collect her from her room, she appeared from the bathroom wearing only a towel.

Palin launched the attack on Bill Ayers before the campaign had finished developing a strategy for the attack.

Her shopping spree was more extensive than reported. Rather than let aide Nicolle Wallace do the shopping, Palin ran off to Saks and Neiman Marcus with a wealthy donor getting the bill. She used aides to do some of the shopping, and the campaign just found out last week when the aides asked to be reimbursed. One aides described the spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast."

McCain rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign. She wanted to speak when McCain gave his concession speech.

On the Sunday night before the last debate, his key strategists decided not to tell McCain that the campaign was over.

McCain vetoed some very negative ads that others had dreamed up.

Obama needed to be convinced that Hillary would be a bad choice for VP, not because of her, but because of Bill.

Fascinating.

And I forgot to mention the times when Palin, after reading her press clippings in the morning, would fly into a rage, throwing papers around, and having a fit.

Thankfully, she'll never have the nuclear launch codes.

Palin threw papers around? There's a cartoon for you, right there.

I can't believe how the protestors are ignoring all the stats about WHO voted for Prop 8. Hello, blacks and Latinos. The protesters attacking the Mormon church is like attacking the TV instead of the reality show.

Politically correct = lame and useless.

Right on Donna! The protestors didn't go to the black and latino churches because they knew that it would have been violent, not to mention politically incorrect. But that kind of logic doesn't seem to be understood here.
