Mayor McCheese-araigosa

Have you grown tired yet of Mayor Villaraigosa criss-crossing the country for fundraisers, when he should be here working on the city's financial failures on his watch?
His self-promotion. His smiling that cheesey smile for anything with "Nikon" written on it. Just call him Mayor McCheese-araigosa. They do have the same smile, don't they?
When Mayor Villaraigosa threatened months ago to lay off hundreds of city employees, and ended up getting rid of only one job, any remaining doubters about his deceitful nature finally had a light-switch go off about the Mayor.

Then, just recently, Villaraigosa saw an opportunity to blame his and City Council's financial failures on the obvious: Wall Street.

But we all knew that that was untrue, too, because Villaraigosa and the City Council continued to give raises to city employees, almost as fast as it gave away city-owned properties (which were falling in value) and fee waivers.

The LA Weekly has a great article in its publication today, showing how right down the street, the County Supervisors have stewarded our taxes much more wisely, and much less selfishly, than those in charge at LA City Hall. Bill Fujioka, the former Chief Administrative Officer for the City, who took the comparable job at County, sure picked the right time to leave the Villaraigosa administration.

One has to ponder, if Mayor McCheese cheated on his wife, as Mayor McCheese-araigosa did, did he get any "special sauce" on the sheets? Lettuce ponder. Maybe on the buns?

Speaking of slickness, oil slipped below $70 per barrel today for the first time in more than a year, as the Dow soared more than 400 points following yesterday's dive.

Is it me or does that hamburger man have a striking resemblance to T.R. Villar?

Don't forget about that Mayor Villaraigosa bobble-head dolls that were out for sale or as gifts, I don't recall just which.

Another venture into self-promotion by Mayor
Narcissist.

Just a little taller and they would have been life-size dolls- AND with better morals.

Just kidding. They were life-size, as is.

What a yucky post, that infantile imagery. Yeah, the Supes have done brilliantly, starting with the county healthcare system -- not only MLK had to close, but every one of the 11 county clinics is operating deep in the red. If you claim it's because of the illegals, the Supes are no less to blame for insisting that everyone have equal access.

They've also got three times the budget, with far less scrutiny and responsibility for daily service. The many cities that pay for Baca's sheriff's dept. are often more bedroom communities than is LA, without its burdens.

And as for being more modest, that's hilarious. Fujioka's only the most visible of the highly paid (over $300K) management there, with dozens of dept. heads making huge amounts and having little interaction with each other or their staffs.

The Supes themselves not only have luxury cars but chauffeurs as well -- remember how Yvonne Burke was busted using one to help in her charade of going to a phony home in her district? They pass out millions of funds at their discretion with no oversight, and live like kings under the radar. If they've managed to be less profligate in some areas, it's because Zev is a moderate Democrat who's often supported the conservatives on fiscal matters. (A role that Bernie could fulfill a lot better than Ridley-Thomas, the union's man: look out if he wins.)

One smart move: they've managed to curtail public comment to a few times a month per gadfly and have kept time-wasters like zuma dogg on a leash. The better to waste time with their own presentations.

There does seem to be a difference that was not earlier noticed, that being the discretionary funding of $1 million to each supervisor while there isn't a comparable account for council persons, even scaled down to account for the triple the number of members for council.

Sup. Gloria Molina had her account roll over a succession of years to amass $15 million. See Steve Lopez' story, "They Give, You Pay," in L.A Times, at: http://articles.latimes.com/2004/sep/29/local/me-lopez29

What great benefits for each supervisor.

She set aside a large portion to fund a Mexican American Cultural Museum... and all this while hospitals and services have continued to head to extinction.

Is it any wonder why public comment is limited in the County Hall? One thing for sure that you don't get with either the City of L.A. or the County of L.A. is "transparency" in government. You might have an obscured view, opacity, densness, mudiness- but NOT transparency.

And thinking about how these operations would be with Ridley-Thomas installed in this Board of Supervisors is too much of the same thing. Unions fork over so much money to get him into office and that should be an indication of how cozy he is with them. And he's coming off a defeat of a bill he co-sponsored to allow electronic billboards alongside the freeway, to contravene Cal-Trans' authority on the subject. Another of the billboard pimps selling quality of life for more money to handle. What a deal. Give me 24-hours-a-day illumination, please.
(Bid for Downtown Electronic Billboards Fails- L.A. TIMES 9-17-08, http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-billboards17-2008sep17,0,3543604.story )

The more you find out, the more find out. Remember- "politicians" are not the same as "statesmen."

Hi 2:42,

It's McDonald's humor, so don't be a FOO'. If I didn't write it, you can bet your sweet petootie someone else would've. Does a phrase like "sweet petootie" work better for you?

You can do better than the holier than thou posture.

Or does your defense stop when it comes to Mr. Blackman?

Thank you, LA Weekly!!! GREAT story!

Villar MUST be indicted, put on trial, and convicted of GROSS MALFEASANCE, DERELICTION OF DUTY, AND MASSIVE EMBEZZLEMENT OF CITY FUNDS.

PRISON IS TOO GOOD FOR HIM!

ARE YOU CRAZY!?!? They've managed to curtail? If I don't show up for meetings, it's cause i'm trying to get my own life. i'd rather miss a week of meetings while i am getting ready for the mayor sam party on friday and other related things.

I think the main thing to come out of the past two years is that City Council HAS NOT been able to curtail Zuma Dogg. When I'm on KNBC 11 Oclock news and KCAL 9 News for Election analysis, I don't think I've been curtailed.

Do some market research dummy...I don't think the word, "curtail" fits. "Rise," perhaps.

Don't forget Mayor McCheese was flying around the country with his squeeze Mirthala on the Ameriquest Jet.

Ameriquest was America's biggest sub-prime predatory lender (before they went bust), Am,eriquest was FNM single biggest source of income (fraudulent income) for many years.

Ameriquest was also a big LaRaza supporter too.

Anyone remember way back when the very, very, very first official act of Villar after he rushed off to visit Vicente Fox in Mexico was the $7M renovation of Olvera Street???

Pretty telling, I would say!

Like I said, I don't like Tony Villar any more than you do but IMO, that last paragraph was not helpful.

If you feel differently, fine. We can agree to disagree.

BTW, it's "TUA" for short : )
