Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Your Los Angeles city officials are lying to you about the need for more taxes. We've told you that. Walter Moore has told you that. And now the Daily News makes the case about Goofy Janice Hahn's gang property tax scam (so she can use your tax money to pay more gang members and give them guns). By the way the Council voted last week to put this scam on the ballot and almost sneaked in a provision to allow them to raise the tax every year.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl has decided to cancel a town hall meeting to discuss an important community issue and replace it with closed door meetings. Rosendahl was to have sponsored the community forum on issues of bicyclists' rights this evening but later announced it would be cancelled and replaced by a "task force." However, the task force does not include members of a bicyclists' group who have been advocating a cyclists bill of rights. With the price of gas going sky-high and the need to find alternate methods of transportation the bicycle issue will not go away despite the wishes of the NIMBY-pamby wishes of homeowner groups in Rosendahl's tony district.
The Griffith Park, Interrupted blog takes the Westside White Guy to task for writing a puff piece on DWP General Manager H. David "E wastewater pluribus" Nahai presenting the controversial utility chief as some sort of environmental hero. Good point as the DWP is filling up reservoirs with plastic balls which has been questioned by some environmentalists. In an unrelated (maybe?) story Joseph Mailander reports that the lotus flowers in Echo Park Lake have died off. For the first time, the annual Lotus Festival will have no blooming lotuses.
Local politicians want to raise your taxes and cut your services but that hasn't stopped them from living high on the hog. The Daily News reports that dozens of top Los Angeles County officials drive in luxury official vehicles costing as much as $50,000 each. Over the last few years these vehicles have been involved in nearly 2000 separate traffic accidents costiing the County millions of dollars.
The Kennedy Republican is possibly looking for a job in a potential Obama administration. Though Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has endorsed John McCain for President he says he'd be interested in being an "energy czar."
Cityhood for East LA begin in earnest Friday. Leaders begin a petition drive which if successful would force a study of the city's viability by the County's Local Agency Formation Commission. The petitions will require the signatures of 9000 registered voters within the future city's boundaries.

I say let's help ELA become a city of its own. That way all the dirty, filty illegals who have ruined our city of LA can go there and be happy with all the low class, low life, leaderless group of Latino politicans. And before you start calling me racist I'm a legal Latino sick of the crap we have to put up with the illegals who refuse to speak English and think they are entitled to be given rights they haven't earned. Yet, they sure as hell know how to fill out all the documents to get free services like food stamps, welfare paid by my tax dollars

Good news for Tony Villar! If E.LA becomes a city he can move there, run for Mayor and live his dream as a corrupt little tin pot dictator.

Does East LA even HAVE 9,000 registered voters?

Your comments are much more valuable, as a Latino, and I agree wholeheartedly with you. However, there are far more illegals here than anyone is admitting. They are in every nook and cranny in every area of So.Ca.
We need to round em up and deport them, or, as you said, confine them to East LA. EastLA issn't big enough to hold all of them, unfortunately!
We also need to fire the Mexican mafia in city hall...they are legally robbing us blind...and it's going to get worse!
You can compare them to the banking fiasco...the lenders kept squandering our money on worthless sub-prime loans for illegals et al, and now they are bankrupt. The mexican mafia in city hall squandered our hard earned taxpayer money on illegals, and now they are broke.
We are going to pay for their crimes, both locally and Federally! The worst is yet to come!

I'm looking out my third floor window. I see a gaggle of fat, ugly, old white people standing with misspelled signs. Maybe 15 at most.

Is Zuma down there?

Who is the lady wearing combat boots and holding a pitchfork??

That would be Don Quixote.

No Zuma didn't show. Not his gig so his egotistical pussy ass couldn't be the center of attention. Besides today is his day to beg for money outside the Starbucks in Santa Monica.

You guys are a bunch of dumb shits. The incorporation of East L.A. has nothing to do with the current city of L.A. boundaries. East L.A. is an unincorporated aread of L.A. County border by L.A., Monterey Park, Montebello and Commerce.

Wrong again, Zuma was there, in fine form and busy greeting his fans. Seriously, I've never seen anything like it... just all kinds of random people, young and old, of all ethnicities stopping Zuma and taking pictures with him and talking to him and he couldn't go two feet without being stopped by his adoring public. :)
Nice to see you there, Zuma. Hope you liked the cupcakes.
xoxo

Based on Valley Doll's report, sounds like a nice, upscale crowd, the kind zuma's attracted to city hall for daily public comment. Too bad I had to miss it.
Did anyone even pay attention to Ron Kaye, with Zuma's star wattage overshadowing everyone? Who else was there? I know some nice ladies from the Republican Club in their 80's...
What about McIntyre and Sandra Tsingh Loh? (She's the only cool one of the bunch.)

I saw a couple of mexican news station vans parked on Main Street - I don't know if the American news vans were around. Look for a slanted news report from the mexican stations.

628 am I say AMEN!!!
I live elsewhere in Los Angeles and I would do anything I can to help us get rid of this filthy portion of weigh-down-LA.

The head of the "East L A Residents Association" was quoted in the Daily News by Rachel Uranga, as saying "we're tired of being the ATM Machine for L A."
What deranged fantasyland do these people live in, with that big sucking noise they're putting out, for our money? (Their beef seems to be with Sheriff's services, mostly. Plus they look at South L A with its unemployment -- but they can't see to the other side of downtown.)
Uranga, the MEChA apologist, tries hard to come up with major contributions the city has received from them, and the best is, "the long-etablished community which popularized low-riders." Now, there's a contribution I can live without!
Hasta la vista, baby. BUT the problem is, as part of the County, they'll still suck up more than they pay into the County healthcare system, contribute to the jails and welfare, other social services.
I'd like to see an accounting of what they get vs. receive to see how much of an ATM they are. I'd like to see that by Council District to shut them all up.

Did you see the Mexicans in orange shirts led by a team of lesbians and one really dorky looking Jewish guy?
