Secret Anniversaries of the Heart...

The holiest of all holidays are those
Kept by ourselves in silence and apart;
The secret anniversaries of the heart....
---Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It's been a few days since the one year anniversary of the breaking story about the Mayor and his affair with former Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas; and it's been about a year since I first poked my virtual head into MayorSam's to get the latest MAV and Mirth chisme after a Google search popped up MayorSam on the top of the list.

Don't judge! I was raised in a family in which the wimmin' folk were real serious about their telenovelas (oh my gawd, does anyone remember Topacio-- circa 1985-ish? I loved that one! "Oh Jorge Luis! Jorge Luis!!!"); I know not to call any of my Tias aytime between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. -- "Meija, I'm watching my show, call me in an hour." "But Tia, I've been abducted by car jackers and they have me locked in the trunk. Help meeee!" "Ay, not now Meija! I'll call you back on commercial!" ::click::

This stuff was better than any of the telenovelas. For real.

So -- you could say that if MAV and Mirth had never, well... you know... I would never have come to MayorSam's. I learned more about Los Angeles politics in a few short days just by coming here than by reading any of the local fishwraps. The bloggers here (past and present) and many of you posters were responsible for shining a light on the City and it's politics and politicians and making me see The Way Things Are in a way which I had never done before. You could say that Antonio and Mirthala's tryst was partially responsible for the birth of Valley Doll. Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, the scrutiny and bad press doomed the star-crossed lovers, and the affair didn't even make it to Christmas. Salinas was summarily dismissed as an anchor on Telemundo and sent to the greener pastures of Riverside. She never showed up for her first day of work at her new assignment; quickly hightailed it outta Dodge; moved from the state; met a nice (we hope) boy; snagged a decent-size rock and posed with it on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine. What would Nathaniel Hawthorne think?

The current state of the Mayor's personal romantic life is less known or played out in the public eye -- which is really too bad; a single Mayor should be Los Angeles' Most Eligible Bachelor and conducting himself as such (on his off-hours, of course), and instead by reputation, has been reduced to Los Angeles' Biggest Lech. Hopefully his family has been able to put back the pieces of their lives post-Mirthala and all the fun that circus must have been in their respective worlds.

Bukowski once wrote: it is much more pleasant to forget a love which didn't work, as all love finally doesn't work ...

Feeling pleasant, Antonio? Yeah, that's what I thought.

For MAV and Mirth...

Isn't Mirthala sexy in that sweater in Los Angeles Magazine?

Look at those nice round boobies.

But alas, they're the milk jugs that destroyed a family and a political career.

The good thing is that it confirms that water seeks its level. Villaraigosa is about as substantive as a cracker. BUH-BYE cItY haLLers!

You would think she would be smiling but she's making herself to be the victim in that photo. You are right about the eligible bachelor label. If Antonio had any class (we know he doesn't) he would have a cleaner image. Too bad the entire city knows he's sleep with anything that has two legs, has to take Viagra to get it up. The women he flirts with our typical Latina youngsters. Ask his staff. What happen to the divorce and did Corina win the battle to get her name back?

If it was MAV's affair that brought you to Mayor Sam's, then it was only a matter of time before you got here.

If it wasn't this affair, it would have been another, at some point.

Antonio has probably never gone a month without hooking up with someone new -- while being married.

If he marries again, while in office (likely, because the next steps in politics require a more "stable" home life appearance), he'll begin cheating on the next wife after a suitable period of "mourning" his loss of singleness. He'll develop bad case of the "7-day itch" (unless someone looks REAL good at the wedding reception, and he just CAN'T hold out).

He's one sick little puppy.

To quote Wadsworth is apropos here, if you mean as in, the mayor shot a "Wadsworth" into Mirthala. Excuse the harsh and suggestive idiom.

Speaking of "boobies":

Santa Ana Councilman Carlos Bustamante quits 2 state panels after breast comments

By Christian Berthelsen, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

July 10, 2008

Santa Ana City Councilman Carlos Bustamante has quietly resigned from two state commissions he was appointed to by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, after his published remarks last month suggesting that a male candidate for Orange County sheriff could've gotten the job if he had breast implants.

Bustamante, a Republican, was appointed by Schwarzenegger in January to the state Fair Employment and Housing Commission, but his nomination had yet to be confirmed by the state Senate.

In a letter to the Senate Rules Committee on Monday, the governor's office said Bustamante's nomination to the fair employment board was being withdrawn. The commission is charged with enforcing California's civil rights laws and hears complaints regarding discrimination in employment and housing.

After the Orange County Board of Supervisors appointed Sandra Hutchens over Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters as the county's sheriff on June 10, Bustamante joked to a blogger: "I kept telling the chief [Walters]: 'Maybe we should get you some implants. Or a water bra.' "

The comment was reported in the Los Angeles Times. Bustamante denied making the remark but the account was confirmed by the blogger, Matt Cunningham, editor of the OC Blog, which looks at Orange County politics and government.

"When these remarks were brought to our attention, it seriously undermined any consideration he would've gotten," said state Sen. Alex Padilla (D- Pacoima), a member of the Senate Rules Committee, which weighs appointments. "Not only were the remarks extremely insensitive in my opinion, but in a year when we came within a hair of nominating the first woman presidential candidate of a political party, to hear that not only this kind of thinking still exists but that someone would say it publicly is unconscionable."

The comment also outraged political bloggers who, following its publication, began a letter-writing campaign to state senators in an effort to block his appointment, and to the County of Orange, where he works, about whether the remark violated workplace codes of conduct.

"When he's making these kind of remarks, how in the world could they put Mr. Bustamante into a body where he's handling these kind of complaints?" said Art Pedroza, the founder and editor of the political blog Orange Juice. "Part of their work involves civil rights and complaints about this kind of behavior."

Rachel Cameron, a spokeswoman for the governor, said Bustamante submitted a resignation letter last week that took effect Monday, citing a recent work promotion which left him without enough time to fulfill the duties of the office. Bustamante is the director of administration for the county's Public Works Department.

It was not clear if the Schwarzenegger administration asked Bustamante to resign, but Cameron said: "We want to make clear that we hold all of our appointees to the highest standard of professional conduct."

Reached on his cellphone this morning, Bustamante declined to immediately respond to questions but said he would call back later.

Bustamante also resigned from a second statewide commission to which he had been appointed by Schwarzenegger, the California Council on Criminal Justice.

Do you guys have anything else to crank on besides the Mayor?

It's been, done again, and then beaten to death.

To quote Winston Churchill "Everything that can be said has been said, but not yet been said by everyone.

Go dig up something new, or, be like your pal ZD, just make it up out of whole cloth.

But ragging in Antonio and Mirthala is yesterday's news and oh so passe.

Lack of integrity and character is never passe or yesterday's news. It is like a brand that burns every day. And Antonio is a burnt as they get.

845 = Jimmy Blackman.

And no, Mr. Blackman, we DON'T have a more interesting subject.

And no, Mr. Blackman, this isn't done. This is VERY relevant. This cat is running for Mayor, and his reckless, wasteful, lying ways are very relevant.

That's why Ace Smith has run tests seeing which of Villaraigosa's scandals matter to people, and Mirthala is still near the TOP of the list.

What's pathetic is that this isn't his only major issue.

Go ask Ace Smith.

Right?

It's not done, fool.

It's all coming home to roost(ers).

Remember ME, Mr. Blackman?

I hope people show up on Monday with Ron Kaye. this is the type of crap going on in city hall and needs to e stopped. The unethical local media could careless and doesn't run these stories. thanks to blogs and internet this story has hit the East Coast.

......L.A. Weekly has learned that City Councilman Tony Cardenas and his colleague Jan Perry — with an assist from Assemblyman Fabian Núñez — sought Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s personal involvement last August to make an unguaranteed loan of public funds to Islas, a rich political insider.
The push came after Islas, his wife, his business partner, his employees and their family members gave Cardenas $10,100 in contributions in 2006 and 2007. In fact, city records show, just 27 days before the raucous CRA hearing in August, Islas and his wife gave Cardenas $2,000. And 10 days after Islas got final City Council approval for the subsidy, Cardenas received another $2,000 in total from Islas, his wife, his business partner Jules Arthur and Arthur’s wife.

Cardenas made his highly unusual appearance at the August 2007 CRA meeting, lavishing his political contributor with public praise — even as Islas’ tenants, sitting nearby, accused Islas of taking public money and misusing it to exacerbate a slum situation at the Alexandria Hotel.

Go read the LA magazine article, then take the poster's advice and get a new topic. This one is boring. And the thought of Jimmy Blackman posting on Mayor Sam is hilarious. I seriously doubt he has time for that.

2:27 why would I want to read an article about that cheap, trifling 'ho ( I'm talking about Antonio). Neither she nor the Mayor has anything redeeming to say about this entire episode, er, I mean affair. So why bother. Cleaning out my cat box would be a less shit-filled exercise than reading what either one of them has to say about anything.

Now if Corina was on the cover, I'd be alll over that! What's Corina's Momma's name? I totally DIG La Suegra! The way she spilled to Beth Barrett -- friggin' classic!

TEAM MAMA RAIGOSA!

I was talking to 9:42, not you, Valley Doll. I'm sorry for that mix-up. They asked if Mirthala really had a fiancee and really wasn't coming back, etc. and I told them to read the article.

My bad.

1:47 am -- no worries! Its all good!

Besides, the mix-up allowed me to publically profess my love for Mama Raigosa.

Is there a "Mother-in-Law Of the Year Award", cause if so, Mama Raigosa deserves it!!

xoxo
